Two men were shot, one fatally, in Northeast D.C. near Gallaudet University, police said.

The shootings are being investigated as one case. However, the men were found a block apart and police have released descriptions of different suspects for each of the victims, D.C. police spokeswoman Officer Tisha Gant said.

About 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, police went to the 1200 block of Raum Street NE and found a man who had been shot in the chest. That victim was pronounced dead, Gant said.

Police are looking for a man who was wearing all-black clothing and a black mask in connection with the slaying.

Officers found another man in the 1200 block of Simms Place NE who had been shot in the leg. Gant said that she did not know the man's condition.

Police are looking for a black man wearing a gray and green jacket in connection with that shooting.
