Adam Kwasman confused a busload of YMCA campers for migrant children on Tuesday, and you shouldn't miss his reaction to learning the truth.
The Arizona Republican congressional candidate was at a protest in Oracle, Ariz., when he spotted a bus coming down the road. He proceeded to tweet: "Bus coming in. This is not compassion. This is the abrogation of the rule of law." (He's since deleted the tweet, but it lives forever thanks to Politwoops).
Kwasman later told KPNX-TV host Brahm Resnik that he saw "some of the children in the buses and the fear on their faces. This is not compassion."
Upon being informed by Resnik that the bus was not migrant children, but rather YMCA campers, Kwasman replied: "They were sad too."
Resnik says reporters "saw the children laughing and taking pictures on their iPhones."
"I apologize. ... I was leaving when I saw them," Kwasman told Resnik.
Kwasman, a current member of the Arizona House of Representatives, has two opponents in the 1st District GOP primary.
