EXAMINER HOT ZONE: Does Obama think Americans are so gullible?

Examiner Editorial
September 10, 2009

President Obama’s address to Congress and the nation Wednesday evening was yet another illustration of his seemingly endless ability to soar to genuinely impressive rhetorical heights without ever landing back on truthful ground. Nothing better illustrates this than Obama’s medical malpractice “demonstration project” gambit. Here’s the essential fact about federal demonstration projects – they are nothing more than a dodge, a deceitful way for Washington politicians to appear as if they are doing something concrete when in reality they’re tucking the idea at hand safely out of sight over in a corner. Obama might as well have said Wednesday night that he will appoint a presidential commission or have challenged Congress to create an emergency national task force on medical malpractice. The Democratic majority sitting in the House chamber would have stomped and clapped and yelled with equal delight, knowing the chief executive had just consigned medical malpractice caps to irrelevance, along with any GOP senator or representative gullible enough to think Obama was thus doing anything other than playing them for suckers.

So it was throughout this 47- minute nationally televised monument to presidential flimflam. Sometimes the prevarications were so obvious that even the president’s most ardent supporters – like the news staff of The New York Times - had to concede that he was playing fast and loose with the facts. For instance, the Times quoted Obama’s repeating of his familiar claim that “if you are among the hundreds of millions of Americans who already have health insurance, nothing in our plan requires you to change what you have.”

"That is technically true,” the Times carefully admitted, “but there is a real possibility that existing policies could change as a result of the legislation. The government, for instance, would set new standards, and employers that already offer insurance would have to bring their plans into compliance.” In other words, when, as is inevitable, the cost of providing health insurance is more than the federal fine Obama seeks for not providing it, companies will drop their employee plans, forcing millions of people into the government-run health care system against their will.

Similarly, Obama claimed “most of this plan can be paid for by finding savings within the existing health care system, a system that is currently full of waste and abuse.” If $675 billion equals “most” of the $900 billion Obama says his proposal would cost, why wait to get those savings? Finally, there is abortion and illegal immigrants. Obama said “no federal dollars” will fund abortions under his proposal and “the reforms I am proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.” If Obama truly believes that, then he will have no objection when Democrats in Congress reverse their previous votes barring such provisions from the legislation when they were proposed by Republicans. In short, did the president sleep through August?

Better yet, do the Republicans think Americans are so gullible. Wahhh. Cry babies. Obama hit the ball out of the park last night. I am so proud of him. I think these right wing nuts like Republican Leader Jobba the Hutt Limbaugh and Drama Queen Beck started think Americans are gullible. They say anything and everything and make lies and half truths. And that cracker from South Carolina calling him a liar. America, and now the world knows what a vicious party the RNP is.But for the paper-waving, town-hall-loving conservatives who came not to listen but to be seen objecting, it was just another reason to block out any good and focus on being the Party of No. And if the answer's always going to be no, the question remains: why is Obama so determined to be inclusive of those people who want to take their toys and go home anyway? Its time to go it alone. Screw the Repulicans.

I Agree!!! Does the EXAMINER think we're gullible is the bigger question!

Does Obama think we're that gullible ? Of course he does or he wouldn't have engaged in 47 minutes of utter prime time clap-trap ! He's also too self absorbed to realize that the majority of Americans don't believe a word he's saying . He's proving himself to be not only myopic but tone deaf as well . I'm not saying he's stupid but he's certainly profoundly challenged in some vital areas !

I agree. This is not an objective newspaper. Its just a right wing, neo-con republican propaganda rag. Day after day, its a constant attack on President Obama even providing a daily president tracking poll from the conservative Ramussan poll. But for the paper-waving, town-hall-loving conservatives who came not to listen but to be seen objecting, it was just another reason to block out any good and focus on being the Party of No. And if the answer's always going to be no, the question remains: why is Obama so determined to be inclusive of those people who want to take their toys and go home anyway? Its time to forget about any Republican support.

The purpose of health insurance is to spread the cost over the years. If all of us were 25 years old and perfectly healthy, we would not need coverage. Marriage, children and old age appear sooner than we think and then coverage is needed. Obama wants to deny coverage to those of us at a time when it is needed and give it to those who pay nothing over the years. Spreading the cost over a number of years is the purpose of actuarial tables. The president is a pathological liar and we should confront him regardless of where Rep. Joe Wilson was, it needs to be said and we need to be angry and stay angry.

greg

Sep 10, 2009

Stay angry. Who cares? You know what guys....I think you might be confusing Anger with losing. But see, when the guy that you disagree with gets elected, he's probably going to do things you disagree with. He could cut taxes on the wealthy. Remove government's oversight capability. Invade a country that you thought should not be invaded. See now you're in the minority. It's supposed to taste like sh.t.. And by the way, if I remember correctly when a disagreement was expressed about that President's actions when ya'll were in power I believe the response was "Why do you hate America?". "Watch what you say." "Love it or leave it." "or you are unpatriotic or un American.".....

Go Joe, Go!!!! And I'm not talking about Joe Hair-Plugs. Cong. Wilson summed up all of the townhalls in a 2 second blurt out. It may not have been civil, but it was the most truthful statement made in that chamber all evening.

If voted today, the "plan" will NOT START until 2013.... AFTER the next Presidential election.

LOL

If it's such a hurry, why does it not start for FOUR YEARS?

It's a flimflam. He needs to rush it through because the more people find out about it, the less they want it.

All the soaring rhetoric of the joint session address by President Obama was drowned out by four words, two in a feminine Alaskan accent, and two shouted in a southern drawl.

All Obama's mean attack on the GOP produced was cheers from his supporters.Did he earn more votes for the confusing health care bills? Not one. A waste of White House influence.

I listened on the radio so I didn't get distracted by the charming persona of the President, the Speaker of the House leaping up to applaud, or the camera shots around the chamber. I think I heard a different speech than I would have with all that staging.

I fear he does think the American people are so gullible because the charm offensive has always worked before. Last night some of his comments bordered on offensive when he sounded like a scolding dad. Too bad because I think we might get health legislation passed that better serves us when it is designed by knowledgeable members of the Congress, without making private deals.

Hmmm...if this little newspaper is so bad, then why is it growing while the Washington Post is about to go out of business?

We've figured Obama out. His play book is straight from Saul Alinsky and Van Jones and Rahm Emmanuel. Use an existing crisis to force radical socialist/communist solutions on the people. His plan will force people off private insurance and onto the tax payer system and will cover abortion.

I have a psychological theory about the man. He hates this country and blames it for his shiftless African father dumping him. He hates being black and wants to destroy this country out of his own self-hatred and out of revenge for his father dumping him.

It's sad how the Democratic Party is losing it. Sad how they trusted in a man that is destroying them from the inside out. Had they seriously looked at Obama's history and character, they would have known to stay clear. Hillary knew. Now the party that had so much distinction and character and actual "hope" is gone. Destroyed by this immature, inexperienced angry marxist and lying racist. This could have been the presidency and administration that truly changed the course of America to a higher plain. But, no longer. Not with the skeletons in Obama's closet, each oozing out, day after day. Wright, Rezko, Odinga, Ayers, Van Jones, Pflaeger, etc. This is guy a lunatic.

I would be so ashamed to be calling myself a Democrat today. I really had hoped this year would be different. It's not. It's even worse.

Sep 10, 2009

What's sad about dems is that all you can do is cry "racist" instead of backing up your arguments with any facts but you'd have to have read the bill to know what we're talking about. It's pathetic that you fall back on that everytime- all you see is the color of his skin. We couldn't care less, his policies are red and that's what matters!

It's amazing that so many people who disagree with The Examiner and denigrate it as a Republican rag actually read it!! Must be trying to learn something.

Bush had his problems. He left a huge deficit - A deficit that evolved over 8 years. We now have a deficit TRIPLE what it was 8 MONTHS AGO!! Sorry, guys (and gals). That falls directly in Mr. O's lap and can't be blamed on the previous administration. If Obama is so fired up about the waste and abuse in Medicare, why isn't he getting rid of that abuse FIRST before he adds many millions more to the rolls and opens it up to even MORE waste and abuse? As we've seen w/Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, the VA hospitals, the Post Office, hell, even the deficit, the government cannot run anything in a cost effective manner. And we want to let them at HEALTHCARE?!?!?!? Thanks but no thanks. . . . .

Guess which type lie Obama is trying to peddle now.

Long ago Tennyson wrote:

"That a lie which is half a truth is ever the blackest of lies;

That a lie which is all a lie may be met and fought with outright;

But a lie which is part a truth is a harder matter to fight."

Obama lies, just as Pelosi lies, when the evidence shows committee votes to squash amendments to clarify just who is supposed to be eligible.

As with a Last Will and Testament when certain persons are not specifically excluded those persons may have a leg to stand on to contest the provisions of the Will. Far far safer to prudently and specifically exclude those who would plunder the estate/State.

Pass the SAFE Act and insist on E-Verify everywhere all the time.

And by the bye, how come Joe Biden comments about Wilson's outburst but was silent following Harry Reid's outburst under similar circumstances ?

Uh Greg... if Mr. Inclusive wants to be so, well inclusive, why is his party not allowing most Republican proposals to even be read in committee? And why, if he is so sure that illegals are excluded (his giant loophole - emergency rooms), why not write it in? And if he is so sure government will only provide competition, why not write in that government cannot be the lowest priced contractor? And if it IS such a great plan, and there won't be rationing, and there will be choice of doctors and all the other things he claims the bills don't or do do - let's absolutely write in that the president and congress are required to enroll immediately. If it is so f*ing good - why not?
These Dem losers wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole...

I think not very many people heard the "4 years from now the plan will start". I think its a plan to start the Next Republican President off with total crap to deal with. Like Obama keeps whinning he had too. If you said no illegals will get this health care then put in the bill the words "NO illegal persons will get this healthcare".. Put in the Bill "No Abortions will be funded with government money" Put it in writing Mr President. Why so afraid to put in writing what you keep saying you stand for? Is it because you are lying?

Answer. . .yes he does think that, because he has gotten away with almost every lie! He is a chronic liar and the press does nothing.

While questionable as to time, place and appropriateness, Joe Wilson's words were the most honest words spoken during the entire health-care speech.

Obama has failed, miserably and absolutely. He is an incompetent tool of the left who was chosen for his skin color and glib manner. It appears however, that his organization has hired an enormous amount of low wage drones to prowl conservative sites chanting "racism" and "we won". Tiresome little parasites who will soon be dust in the wind after being crushed under the boot heel of Nationalism that is growing in this country. Greg,do you hear us?

Why wouldn't he assume the gullibility

he's got ACORN and unions thugging

Few commuters on Washington's Metro system are aware that The Examiner is a mouthpiece for its right-wing owner, Philip Anschutz, a Republican donor and strong supporter of Bush's administration and an active patron of a number of religious and conservative causes.

Take Note

Sep 16, 2009

True. Anschutz, the Examiner's owner, is a multi-billionaire and a very reclusive and shadowy person. He doesn't talk to the media at all but is buying up newspapers so he can promote his Republican agenda. People only read the Examiner because it's handed to them for free.
