The chilling and cowardly words of Eric Holder

Examiner Editorial
-
February 19, 2009

Attorney General Eric Holder thinks Americans are “a nation of cowards” on matters of race. This is the same Holder who kowtowed to Bill Clinton to help secure Clinton’s pardon of fugitive financier Marc Rich. And the same Holder who prostrated himself to Hillary Clinton’s political ambitions by helping arrange pardons for 16 Puerto Rican terrorists. Now, he has the nerve to call the rest of us cowards, even as he speaks as the man who controls the entire federal law-enforcement apparatus? Quite simply, Holder has insulted all Americans, regardless of age or ethnicity.

Not only were Holder’s comments morally bankrupt, demonstrably untrue, and compelling proof of his own outlandish hubris; they also carried distinctly chilling undertones of government coercion. It is not the province of law enforcement chiefs to be judges and chief scolds of what their countrymen discuss. The current generation of Americans have spent half a century grappling with – and transcending – deeply rooted racial problems more extensively than any other nation in the world. President Barack Obama’s administration, with Holder its attorney general, is itself proof that Americans have more than discussed racial issues, they have voted their convictions. The glaring hubris of a man who would deem himself fit to pronounce such moral judgments on his fellow citizens is astonishing.

The context of Holder’s remarks, meanwhile, was chilling. He spoke on Wednesday not in some philosophical setting like a college graduation but in his official capacity as attorney general, to the employees at the Department of Justice. He talked of using DoJ to “creat[e] … artificial opportunities to engage one another” in conversations about race. Yet Holder also seeks to define what sorts of “conversations about the racial matters that continue to divide us” are acceptable. For instance, regarding affirmative action, he castigated those who, according to his own Olympian discernment, are “on the extremes [and] who … advance nothing more than their own, narrow self interest.”

Bizarrely, Holder criticized “the alternative [which] is to allow to continue the polite, restrained mixing that now passes as meaningful interaction.” Who is he to decide what private interactions should be “allowed”?

He should look in the mirror

Feb 20, 2009

He and his transition team are the ones who failed to appeal the Rothe Development affirmative action case to the Supreme Court earlier this month, and someone in the media should call him on it.

His statement was honest, the ones that are outrage about his comments are simply hypocrites, because even as write that racist behavior is the law of the land. As a African American Woman, I love my country but any race use my color as a excuse to give them confidence, it will be meant with unapologetic anger and that is that!

Take the Mirror Test. I suggest that everyone (including the Attorney General) take a close look in a mirror and study carefully what particular shade of skin they see on the face in the mirror; and while doing so, ask themselves whether the color of that skin or any other color of skin is really of any significance whatsoever, or whether, in fact, the real issue of concern is what goes on inside the skull in the brain that is currently looking at the face in the mirror - the intelligence, knowledge, determination, character, work ethic, honesty, language skills, learning ability, trustworthiness, personality and all the rest. Racial discrimination is illegal in our country and if instances of racial discrimination are taking place the Attorney General needs to see that such cases are prosecuted. Otherwise, perhaps we can agree that skin color is irrelevant and refocus our attention on the many significant problems we currently face, on things that actually do matter.

There's only one race: The Human Race. Catgorizing groups of people based on skin color or other physical characteristics is bigotry. Didn't anyone tell holder that there is no white race? There's no black race. There are no red or yellow races.

Holder is an opportunistic manipulator. He's deliberately provoking the fear/emotion element of race to his own advantage. Trouble is that America just became the first majority-white nation on Earth to elect a black leader. He's picked just about the most ridiculous time in American history to make this ludicrous allegation. In a time of dire economic circumstances, with financial fraud finally coming to light throughout the nation, American needs an Attorney General who gives top priority NOT to his own political career at the expense of others, but to the best interests of the nation at large. Holder is clearly not that person.

Is Holder aware that America just elected Barack Obama? Does he think the 10 percent of America that is black accomplished this without any votes from the other 90 percent of the nation?

Too bad Holder did not have the courage to say this BEFORE he was confirmed. I guess he does not have any.

He's throwing out chum. He is laying the groundwork to position all opposition to Obama's administration as racist. He is trying to provoke a high profile incident that they will then wield like a club against opponents. Don't take the bait. Keep cool, stay on point, keep it factual. Argue the merits of the case against their initiatives and don't stray.

Half the illegal aliens in the country have taken out sub-prime loans and now we are supposed to reach into our pockets to keep them in their homes; otherwise we are racists. This seems a highly unprofessional statement coming from an attorney general, and I think the country has moved past the point where the race card can be pulled out to trump every argument.

Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh asked the question regarding Holder: "Well, what are we supposed to discuss?" I suspect Holder's "discussion" about race involves more groveling and apologizing from white people about stuff that happened before they were born. What if my side of the discussion were: "You people of color need to get over it and move on. You have all the opportunity or more opportunity to be all you can be."?

I am appalled by Eric Holden's comments. They were absurd and non-sensical, inaccurate and divisive. This is the best O'bama could do for selection for this position?? The Liberals again are sabotoging themselves, showing clearly that they are light years away from having a clue of what really goes on in the world. Obama and Holden should be ashamed of themselves, they are a major embarrasment.

If he used another word less "offensive" then cowardly, the speech would had gone unnoticed and the message lost. I will have to listen to it again but was he not saying that we all tend to segregate ourselves? I thought, you know, I tend to segregate to my own. But instead, because he is black, I see comments that automatically say he was trying to blame whites. I thought he was talking about all races. I see as usual, this paper making it a political issue.

Feb 20, 2009

Holder has no room to comment about race relations. Check out the law suit of Durnford v. Ashcroft. The Clintoon Justice Dept. (of which Holder was a part) had to pay over $10,000,000 to settle a discrimination claim that the "leaders of Justice" refused to hire white males to be immigration judges. WHITE MAN NEEDN'T APPLY!!! Real nice "ERICH". You coward. Why didn't you complain to Janet Reno? You're the COWARD!

So much for Obama's promises and voter's hopes of a post-racial america. Obama's implicit promise to whites was no race-baiting and we're not 30 days into his presidency and we get statements from the AG that you would expect to hear from rude agitators and con men like Al Sharpton. Holder must go!!

Feb 20, 2009

To understand Eric Holder's comments you first must understand that Eric Holder is a blatant, hardcore racist. In his view nothing - - NOTHING on this earth takes place that does not revolve around race. He demonstrated this while Deputy Attorney General under Janet Reno and has wasted no time reaffirming that position since his latest confirmation.

The whole world stood up and applauded the election of America's "First Black President". Tell me why there was no celebration by the Black Community or anybody else when Condoleeze Rice, the First Black Woman was appointed to a Cabinet Position. Secretary of State, no less. There was some recognition of Colin Powell. But...this was in BUSH's Administration, and...funny thing... I heard no mention of Race either way. But for TWO YEARS the race card has been played on us almost daily by the Media and the D's....and apparently we ain't seen nuthin' yet. The hubris by Erice Holder reflects the supreme Audacity of Arrogance fueled by his new-found Power. And let me remind you HE DOES HAVE THE POWER.

Feb 20, 2009

People should recognize who they are, but not make a big deal about it. Holder wants people to make a big deal about who they are but not to really understand it. I don't care if the first whomever is elected; that's not of any consequence to anything. Great leaders show their leadership through action, not through exploiting inequality for personal gain.

tinydancer1966

Feb 20, 2009

This is yet more proof that the American people have elected the wrong president. It is the most inept, divisive, and racist administration ever put into the white house. Hopefully the same American people will wake up in time for the elections in 2010 and 2012. If the country survives that long.

There is nothing so powerful and frightening as a politically empowered and ideologically extreme Attorney General. He is not there by accident -- he is there because Obama wants this kind of behavior from his AG. The first step to tyranny is to take away the guns. The second is to stifle dissent (e.g. criminalize speech that is "offensive", pass the "Fairness Doctrine", etc.). This administration is going to be purposeful towards both ends. God help this country.

Feb 20, 2009

Let's take the lastest case with the New York Post cartoon. A clearly offensive, threatening gesture is made in the national media. The culprit is called on it by many. Instead of entering into a dialogue about the incident, the newspaper, and the nation at large essentially sweep it under the rug. In my book, that is called a hit and run. Those who don't stand to fight, defend, or explain are considered cowards. If a similar gesture had been made toward a Clinton, Reagan, Bush, Kennedy, or Eisenhower, the nation at large would not shy away from confronting the situation. Can anyone remember a threat such as this against a US President, let's say post WWI? Ask yourself why is this case deemed unimportant by a seemingly large majority? Then ask if maybe Holder's comments speak to some truth..

Feb 20, 2009

This editorial hit the nail on the head. Mr. Holder should do his job, and trying to frame the "national debate" on race, whatever that is, is definitely not in his job description. I'll have to ask my Asian-American, African-American, and Hispanic American parters at the poker table tomorrow night what he is talking about. Mr. Holder needs to grind his personal axe in private because he sure doesn't live in my world.

My first thought was why didn't Holder think HIS statements were racist? If he meant for his statement to encourage thoughts, I think he went just a little too far with it -- all this did was plant a little seed of discord that can only grow into something the country is trying to turn around! Racism doesn't just fall into the laps of whites -- it is an issue with EVERY ethnic group that all of us are responsible for!

In Response to VMiller. Save your anger. Grab a mirror, yes looking back at you is someone who has been given every advantage this country has to offer. Even though 99% of your race did not qualify or earn those advantages. How about just saying Thank you! Someday this nation will have a real objective conversation on matters of race. That conversation will be nothing less than a complete indictment on you and your fellow ethnics. This is a conversation long overdue. In the meantime, just keep filling our jails at warp speed.

The race-baiting continues; only now the Sharpton's and Jackson's have been replaced with Holder. - This editorial is 100% correct! There is NO BETTER country in the WORLD for those of African descent (or any other ethnicity for that matter!) There are NO 1st or 2nd generation decentents of slaves alive today; and in fact more Whites have lost their lives during the Civil War to free the slaves, than black lives lost in their struggle for Cilvil Rights. How will those who claim to speak for the 'majority' of African Americans EVER look forward when they keep looking in the rear view mirror??? - Truth is, Holder, Sharpton, Wright, etc are like a tired, VERY old, worn out, blemished record that keeps playing and playing without realizing how grating, irrelevant, and outdated the ir song has become!

Frank discussion about race is impossible in this country. We’re not cowards, WE DON’T’ WANT TO BE DRAGGED DOWN TO HUMAN RESOURCES!!!! If you question Obama’s policies, you’ll be accused of being a racist. Congress completely caved in on Burris and allowed him to be a senator because they feared they’d be accused of being a racist. THEY WERE ACCUSED OF RACISM. If you questioned Bush, you were unpatriotic. If you question Obama, you’re a racist. The race card is played constantly to strangle dissent. It works fabulously. Holder doesn’t want frank discussion about race. Obama doesn’t want frank discussion about race.

Holder is correct in that we do not often have honest, open, all-cards-on-the-table discussions about conflict between the races. It is nearly impossible to do so without someone getting too upset to continue. None of us could come away from an honest race discussion with our pedestals fully intact. As long as chipping away at certain pedestals remains politically incorrect, honest discussion will not be possible.

Talk about a lack of context. I doubt the editorial writer, or most of the comenters, could pass a quiz on the content of the speech. They heard "nation of cowards" and sounded off, without knowing what the heck he was talking about. I doubt you were upset when Bill Cosby went on tirade against less elite blacks, because he said what some of you wanted to hear. Very selective outrage, friends.

Feb 20, 2009

Holder has shamed his position. What he said has caused the general public to realize what a raceist he truly is. Are we looking at a pompous "donkey"? This 'race' thing will never be over with his kind of attitude. It's just blacks, once again, useing blacks to play the race card..just like Jackson and Sharpton.

Having lived in so-called unlightened and progressive Europe, I can say without a doubt that the United States compares quite well to the vast majority of industrial countries when it comes to public discussion of race. In fact, with the exception of a few countries such as South Africa, it is hard to conceive of a country that has addressed the subject of race as openly, honestly, and often as the United States of America. Holder is a twerp. If he wants to dispense with cowardice and race, he can use his perch at the DOJ to address the undeniable fact of how blacks commit a vastly larger share of violent crime (mostly against each other) than their percentage of the population, a fact reflected by dismal statistics regarding prison populations. You can't blame it all on racism and cops.

Holder is apparently committed to setting the standard for cowardice and hypocrisy ... and apparently proud of it. He doesn't have the good sense to even write a decent speech - much less say something productive. What he said was insulting and untrue. As such he is unfit to serve the citizens of this country. If Holden is Obama's idea of "change you can believe in", I reject it.

Holder also said: "But we must do more, and we in this room bear a special responsibility. Through its work and through its example this Department of Justice, as long as I am here, must — and will — lead the nation to the "new birth of freedom" so long ago promised by our greatest president. This is our duty and our solemn obligation." Just what do you have in mind for the DOJ, Eric? Just how do you plan for your department to facilitate this "new birth of freedom?" Inquiring cowards want to know.

I've watched the media and the Democrats in Chicago all of my life, using race to control people, tactics of fear, repression and guilt as a way to control. The negative backlash to Holder's comments proves his point. As far as comments such as there is no such thing as race, there has been such a thing as race for all of America's history, it was written into the constitution, you can't hold back a whole class of people for 200 years and then just say it has no impact today because things have changed. Even if all is equal today (which I would debate) unless you want to deny that you built on the success of your parents and grand parents then you can't deny that there are people in the US who are starting behind because we denied earlier generations.

Mr. Holder appears to be extremely retrograde, out of touch or both. My many friends of all races and I have had frank discussions about race since at least the 1970's and probably earlier. We have discussed it to the point that it no longer is even relevant to who we are and how we relate. What is cowardly, Mr. Holder, is to live in the past; whether for the protection of your own prejudices or for the gain you seek by dividing a unified people. I don't classify people by their natural attributes, over which they had no control. Apparently, you still do. Get over it.

President Obama's minister of twenty years said "Goddamn America" . Michelle Obama said that "this is a very mean nation", and now Attorney General Holder says we are a nation of cowards. This coming from people who no doubt benefited from government programs, programs going back almost fifty years. We had the Great Society, we've had busing, welfare, Affirmative Action, free clinics, free immunizations, Project Headstart, Section 8 for cheap rent. No taxes for the "poor", the Earned Income check sent out to many working families. Trillions have been spent trying to right the wrongs of our history. Of course that history offically ended with Abraham Lincoln, and today, there is not a soul walking on this land who had a thing to do with slavery. I for one am already tired of the rhetoric coming from this White House. The best we can do is not become defensive and browbeaten. Remember 49% of American voters did not vote for President

Feb 20, 2009

He has done a lot of things I dont appreciate including the Elian Gonzalez fiasco. However, Holder is speaking the truth about us Americans. At least here in the US you can look to history and can understand segregation. However, even in a rich country like Singapore, Americans tend to segregate themselves and I know a lot of people who have lived there for over five years but have never interacted with the locals outside the workplace, even those locals with similar socio-economic status. This is particularly true of American women.

Has not everything mentionable and unmentionable already been said, ad nauseum? Sometimes I long for a little 'polite restraint'.

If Mr Holder feels that we are a "nation of cowards" with respect to issues of race, then I respectfully submit that he visit the graves at Gettysburg. If the Republican North had not prevailed over the Democrat South in this pivotal battle of the Civil War then Mr Holder would be picking cotton right now.

Don't be afraid of Truth spoken out loud

Feb 20, 2009

This article is chillingly the standard(is that fear I smell)response to the suggestion of unemotional discourse where we agree to disagree. Let us learn to discuss facts and opinions with no emotional attachment -- Blacks have. This piece reflects that old tired attitude, pulled out time and again: defensiveness, outrage, insult, followed by slander and strong words of over-reaction. This nation has more deeply rooted racial problems than any other nation in the world - any grappling is simply expected of a decent society. With all the transcendence that has occurred, still, Holder is called names, his credentials called into question and words like bizarre are used to describe him. Why? Open minds are desirable.

Chilling Cowardly Editorial by Examiner

Feb 20, 2009

Examiner needs to get off its high horse. Holder merely stated the obvious. Americans DON'T sit around discussing racial issues because it is difficult and it does take courage. We spend infinitely more time talking about basketball, what they saw on TV last night, and any number of other issues that are easier to discuss than race. Holder has spent his entire life dealing directly with racial issues. This editorial is STUPID.

South Africa v. USA

Feb 20, 2009

The Editorial states, "current generation of Americans have spent half a century grappling with – and transcending – deeply rooted racial problems more extensively than any other nation in the world." I fear that South Africa may have us beat on that score. They even elected a black President before we did. Several even.

'Let us learn to discuss facts and opinions with no emotional attachment -- Blacks have.' Two questions come to mind: 1 - Do you actually know any black people? 2 - What's the weather like on Mars?

Lies, Darned Lies, and Statistics

Feb 20, 2009

Mark mentioned "dismal statistics regarding prison populations. You can't blame it all on racism." True, you can also blame overzealous prosecutors and activist judges who might punish black criminals more harshly than white ones for similar crimes. Maybe legal representation is also to blame. Who gets probation and short jail sentences? Who gets longer sentences? Who lives in neighborhoods more subject to crackdowns for particular crimes (violent or otherwise)? Who gets a criminal rap sheet and who gets to laugh about dumb things they got away with when they were kids?

It is time to trump the race card. The best offense against this tactic of intimidation is to refuse to acknowledge it. We are only cowards if we meekly accept this overt strategy to silence our objections for fear of being singled out as a racist.

Hey Genghis, or as John Kerry would say- Jenjhis. You hit it on the head brother. Its all about reparations. Four years of bleeding the treasury to right a wrong none of us had anything to do with--including the those on the receiving end. Dig deep!

I;m sick of race baiters like Holder continuing to plant this cancer in the minds of blacks and destroying their lives. I'm a white guy who has always looked up to so many blacks from Mingus to Thomas to Sowell to the pot washer who I grew up with in my dad's kitchen. Consider there's no way for anyone, absolutely no one inclding Holder to climb into my brain and know my white life. They can never know the challenges, stupid people, people who have for no apparent reason at all given me a cold shoulder, a hard time or treated me so unfairly it would make you wince. They can never know if my life and the challenges I face are any different than theirs. So please SHUTUP about white priveledge and racism and GET A LIFE! Life is hard and life in unfair to ALL OF US

The Left-- which includes blacks like Holder & Obama-- just want to use slavery & segregation (both remnants of a distant past) as an eternal crutch & tool of moral coercion against whites, playing on & exploiting white guilt. How about a conversation on black illegitimacy, black-on-white crime (murder, rape, armed robbery), affirmative action & quotas? How about the black culture glorifying violence & misogyny? No, Holder, Obama, and black America are too cowardly to have a frank discussion of those issues. Holder is a rank racist, a black Bull Connor.

We are all individuals with an opportunity to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness..What does Race have to do with that? Especially when we have individuals ie President Obama and Attorney General Holder who have achieved that which was unthinkable 50 years ago. These two Americans had better do what is right for all Americans and leave the color of the skin out of it. To bring race and color into it is to do a diservice to the job that needs to be done to promote the Greatness that is America..

The "nation of cowards" comment made by Eric Holder is despicable. Typical left wing liberal replies include "anybody who disagrees with Holder is a hypocrite" What??? The fascists have arrived.

Regardless of Hillary and Bill (time to let go btw) his statement was foul and showed disdain for the American People. Not only republicans are upset with the statement. I am a dem who supports both bill and hillary, but Holder is a disgusting tool who feels disdain for Americans (as does Obama) and he should apologize. I'm sure Obama agrees with him, or he'da made him issue one. They both disgust me.

Pretty ugly stuff coming from Eric Holder the Attorney General. When was the last time we had an AG we could trust? Not the Lesbian Woman Reno. Not the Hispanic Gonzalez. Not the Black Man Holder. It was the White Man John Ashcroft who, while hospitalized, refused to sign off on Bush's Patriot Act schemes. There. I guess I'm not a coward, right Mr. Holder?

Holder's comments were deeply disturbing. In the mid 1800's Muslims, Europeans and the US disavowed slavery as a policy. Our country has made significant progress is eliminating antiblack behavior culminating in the election (by whites by wide margins) of Obama. Despite this, whites are still being made to feel guilty. Blacks can say anything they want (Chris Rock) but whites are not able to raise racial issues without being called a racist. It's time for blacks to stop wanting to continue the guilt trip. We're not cowards, we just can't see how two-way conversations can take place.

If you wonder why there are inequities in the U.S. justice system.....why rich white men get away with serious crimes while poor African American men go to prison look no further than Eric Holder. If you are white, rich, powerful, and influential, like Marc Rich, Eric Holder will help you get special treatment even a pardon. How is it that this corrupt man has the nerve to call us a nation of cowards. This corrupt man should resign immediately. Obama should be ashamed to have a man like this in his cabinet!

Feb 20, 2009

Okay, Let's have a frank discussion about race, starting with the high crime rate among blacks, then move on to illegitimate births, underperformance in school, gansta culture, etc, etc, etc. The nice thing about having an Obama administration in town is that there probably will be more discussions about race, but they won't involve the kind of guilt-ridden groveling Holder is hoping for. Holder's remarks reflect the thinking of the Marxist social worker who appointed him to his current job. Keep it up Obama and company, and pretty soon people won't be afraid to discuss how they really feel about race and racist hacks like Holder.

What did you expect America? The statements from our new, carefully selected AG are only the begining. What we will soon have is our own form of Apartheid within a generation. I never thanked God because we elected "white" Presidents before, but when I see people in the streets crying with joy because we elected a "black" President, who then is the racist? They need to confiscate our homes and 401-K's, supress free speech, ban cartoonists and talk radio and take our guns away before the job is complete. (but keep ganster rap as a positive form of self expression) The time has come for another Tea Party. We need to join Santelli or Savage for a "10 Million Man March" in Washington in the Fall of 2009 before this country is not a country anymore.

From the editorial to all but one comment: Good way to prove Holder's point. "Why, I declare!" "Goodness Gracious!" "Can you believe! "Well I never!" Uh . . . Mr Holder? We'd better start the discussion with the more advanced part of the class . . .

Calling people cowards and me a coward is insulting and beyond comprehsion. I am a Vietnam veteran and I believe the real coward is Mr. Holder and the media for not taking him to task for the remark. When are American going to realize that African Americans have a chip on their shoulders and that they think that common courtsey doesn't apply to them. Their agenda is only what can the government do for them.

Racial bias exists in every society, whether we like it or not. Does it apply to everyone? Emphatically no! Does it apply to people of every race? Emphatically yes. So Mr. Holder, before you start calling everyone a coward regarding their willingness to discuss race, here's a few people you might want to talk to: Start with yourself; then move on to Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Don Imus, maybe a group conversation with the Congressional Black Caucus, and if you really feel comfortable, sit down w/the likes of ACORN and check out their agenda. I'm certain talking to these people will be genuinely enlightening regarding their pespective on race, but one more thing, ask yourself your perspective. Ask yourself why you think you thought it was a good idea to raise this issue in one of y our first meetings w/your employees. More importantly, what did you do, as Assistant Attorney General during the Clinton years to advance the conversation. We'll all listening. We can't hear you!!!

When Michael Steele was elected RNC Chairman a few weeks ago, I was one of those who cheered loudly; as I E mailed the RNC: "he's smart, well-spoken and where President Obama is divisive, it seems, Mr. Steele is a unifier." I did not vote for President Obama, but I certainly wish him success; as we all know, the country needs it; but if Mr. Holder's choice of "coward" is because he, himself, has a hatred or prejudice, he will not have the respect or credibility his office or the Department of Justice deserves; it may be, President Obama will need to consider Mr. Holder's position.

Right Wing Panties in a Twist Over Obvious Observation

Feb 21, 2009

Holder was speaking about society generally, stating the obvious. It doesn't take much for the Right Wing to go nuts over stating the obvious - although Holder could have chosen a better word than coward. The comments here highlight the thinly veiled anger and hatred toward African Americans who speak their minds.

It's hard to believe Holder didn't consult with Barak H. before making that speech. What next? Gestapo? A segue to BHO's July 2 speech in Colorado Springs "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded as the military"? Let's see if Dear Leader will disavow his minion within say two days--if not, the writing's on the wall!

If I, as a white peson, say that I think another white person is lazy, immoral, dishonest, dumb, or just an unmitigated jerk, no one accuses me of being a racist. If I make the same comments about a "person of color"...even if they are indisputably true, I would be called "racist in many quarters, or at the least, being cculturally "insensitive". The same applies if I choose to avoid certain groups, or persons, because I happen to disaprove of their actions or behavior, or because I know that if I inadvertently an unitentionally say something they find "offensive",I am quite likely to have all sorts of hassles. Many people have a political correctness chip on thier shoulder the size of a telephone pole!

I sympathise. When your in the pits and you look around, you only see the pit walls and a little blue sky way above. We all are tryin to climb outa the rut of ignorance!!Building financial towers to the sky hasn't proven to be the answer. Maybe we should institute opening ravenaged Federal Forestry and BLM lands here and there for that old promise of 40 acres and a mule. Yea, well good luck. Ya got an a angry urban population that has all it existance dependant on forces it can't control.A captive, hapless, clueless bunch essentially controled by their entertainment source. As long as those trucks keep a'rollin with plastic wrapped everything, itt'l seem to make sence.

Only those that are of the political and media class are cowards about discussing racial relations. Every time one of these persons wish to make a point that is critical of liberal African/Americans They are slapped with the race card as in James Clyburn's dropping the race card on the various governors for making comments regarding not taking the bailout money.

The problem with any race conversation is that often you are guilty of racism, not based on what you say, but based on how someone decides to hear what you said. I have read blogs were just disagreeing with Obama on policy is met with the accusation that the poster is "racist". How is disagreeing on something like the stimulus plan mean the person is racist? Given this response, why would anyone want to discuss race issues? If your accused of racism just for disagreeing on a economic policy!

Hardly About Holder

Feb 23, 2009

I would love to hear a frank discussion on race that doesn't BEGIN with Why Your Race Sucks. Most of the commenters have already failed, from that perspective. Holder's comments are far less chilling that the bile spewing from this page.
