News media barred from ACORN meeting at Center for American Progress

Freedom of the press stopped at the door of the Center for American Progress earlier today when this reporter and a camera crew from Fox News were barred from covering a "briefing and discussion" meeting of left-wing advocacy groups worried about recent coverage of the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN).

Brian Kettenring, an ACORN spokesman, refused to allow journalists to cover the meeting, which was slated to include representatives from 10 organizations. The featured speaker at the meeting was Bertha Lewis, ACORN's chief organizer and CEO.
A spokesman for CAP declined to say if the liberal think tank approved of the ACORN's spokesman barring journalists from covering the meeting.

Listed on an invitation to the meeting as sponsors were the Alliance for Justice, Center for American Progress Action Fund, Center for Community Change, Common Cause, Fair Elections Legal Network, Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, People for the American Way, and Project Vote.

“The conservative campaign against ACORN and its voter registration campaign continues unabated,” the meeting announcement said.“These attacks should be understood in historical context, but also as a pretext for an affirmative strategy to demobilize voters of color. Thursday’s presentation and discussion will feature a range of speakers laying out the facts, answering questions, and discussing how to advance both a concrete message and a transcendent policy approach.”

The meeting was apparently sparked by recent coverage in the Examiner and Fox News of the fact ACORN is under criminal investigations in at least 14 states of allegations of voter registration fraud.

The Examiner and Fox have also covered allegations by members of the ACORN 8, a dissident group made up of present and former ACORN officers and members concerning financial, legal and management abuses.

The dissidents have raised numerous questions about ACORN's operations. They claim ACORN leaders use an affiliated group known as Citizens Consulting Inc. (CCI) to control the finances and activities of multiple allied organizations.
Tax documents examined by the Examiner indicate multiple links among ACORN, CCI and at least a dozen allied organizations at the state and national levels.

ACORN8 members have told the Examiner that “white liberals” in key ACORN leadership positions are responsible for questionable financial activities and illegal voter registration efforts that have generated internal dissent and widespread media coverage.

These guys need to be investigated by the Justice Department for voter fraud (including RICO violations). Unfortunately our legal system has also been compromised under the current administration.

Obama, SEIU and ACORN i would say marxist trifecta, but that's not true, this isn't about politics, it's about the money, please stay on this, please don't make it about politics, if we go political on this we will lose, we have to keep it all about the money.

The ACORN crooks and other howling Leftists believe they are on a righteous mission. Money and Political Power are the Gods of their religion. They are as cruel and relentless as crusading christians or islamic terrorists. Every dog has its day.

Thank you so much for covering this important issue. It's good to know there is still media out there who hasn't become a part of the official government press.

This group is a RICO investigation waiting to happen. ACORN is as crooked as a shillelagh. In typical liberal fashion, they accuse the conservatives who understand their illegalities as launching a witch hunt against them. What a hoot!

It is time for the American people to realize that Leftists are not liberals; they do not respect elections. They scream that they have been cheated when they fail to take an election through voter fraud and trickey recounts. Obama was a part of this mob. He has moved the census into the White House so he can manipulate population data in creating favorable voting districts for the Left. The American public has the attention span of a puppy and the "smart" ones are the most gullible.

ACORN is the current version of Hitler's "Brownshirts." Do you expect Holder, the USAG to investigate his leader's people? Hell, he wouldn't even prosecute the three New Black Panther Party members accused of intimidating voters in Philadelphia in 11/2008. Be afraid; be very afraid. "1984" is here!

Whether it be right or left wing, corruption has always been a part of DC and the Government. This fact goes back to the earliest days of our country. If the republicans think they are without guilt of this fact then they are living in the land of OZ. I am neither Right or Left, this us and them stuff is what corruprion thrives on so it can continue, no matter who's in office. The people have a right to know and that means all the people....!! The constitution is still viabel so far, we must begin to use it as Americans!! All Americans.
