"Imagine a judicial nominee said "my experience as a white man makes me better than a latina woman" Wouldn't they have to withdraw? New racism is no better than old racism. A white man racist nominee would be forced to withdraw. Latina woman racist should also withdraw." Facts can be hard things, but they remain facts: Sotomayor is a racist if she actually believes what she said. And it is without question racist to assume that one ethnic group is “better” than another. This is not about the Republican Party vs. Newt Gingrich. This is about the Republican Party remembering that it is the party of Abraham Lincoln and of freedom: not about racial grievance-mongering. A vital part of that is to recognize racism and oppose it, regardless from whence it comes.
