An Election Day Word for my Liberal Friends

When William F. Buckley launched National Review magazine in 1955, it was said conservatives were standing athwart history yelling "Stop!" Today, as another generation of Americans go to the polls possibly to elect a true man of the Left as our 44th president, the liberal Leviathan - ever demanding that we think and act as it decrees - looms constantly larger in American life,

So it is no wonder that the excitement on this day is palpable among my liberal friends. They believe they stand at this moment on the threshold of being handed power they've not possessed for many decades. They rejoice at the opportunity for them to remake America in their own image.

They believe that those of us who, against all reason hold our reactionary notions about individual liberty as precious as ever, will, finally and for good, have no other choice but to submit, to be as Leviathan says we must be. To them, I have but one word:

Never.

Last time liberals had this much power, the New Deal, they deepened the Great Depression, interred Japanese Americans in desert camps, tried to pack the Supreme Court, devalued the currency, and broke George Washington's tradition that a President only serve two terms.

William F. Buckley is turning over in his grave with the so call Conservative movement seen in the last couple of decades. Even his son is not for the neo-cons and McBush. Why don't they just rename this paper the Neo-Con Examiner. I have never seen a newspaper so bias.

The right wing cowers in fear as the nation threatens to lurch back toward moderate centrism. God forbid that common sense and moderation might return to Washington. The Republican nut case wing just four years ago crowed endlessly the about a Permanent Republican Majority. I have one word for you: NEVER. Lie and distort all you want -- let's see who's buying that BS today.

In 12-18 months the Obamanation will be known as the most hated man in America and the Dems will be running away from him as fast as they can - which will not be fast enough to prevent a Republican Congress in 2010.

sherardg@yahoo.com, you have no sense of history at all...much like most Obamites. But arguing with liberals is like arguing with the wall. Never mind.

This is what happens when Republicans elect or nominate a "moderate" statist rather than a champion of freedom. The inherent contradiction of being moderately controlled by the state always fails to the logic of more control, ever more. After all, once you yield the principle what objection is left? Yes, but less? Yes, but slower? Good luck with that. We'll see that the only difference b/t O and W is who gets our money delivered to them as a payoff. The wolves gather . . .
