A cholesterol Christmas at Veep's house

Cardiac controlled CheneyAt Vice President Dick Cheney's holiday party last week, many attendees commented on the veep's slimmer frame. If, in fact, he has been losing weight, it must be because he's foregone some of the goodies offered up at his own home.
Some of the delicacies being served to guests included the cholesterol-laden maple glazed bacon (to be washed down with blue cheese breadsticks), beef tenderloin, roast beef and stuffed gorgonzola dipped in a beer batter. There to partake in the buffet: Karl Rove, Ed Gillespie, Dana Perino, Sen. John Cornyn, Rep. Roy Blunt, Bill Bennett and Alan Greenspan.
Wait: Hasn't Cheney been plagued by heart problems? Clearly, he's opting for more broccoli than beef.
Since he's only got a few more weeks in the vice president's plush digs on Massachusetts Avenue, we had to ask both Cheney and his wife, Lynne, what one perk they'd miss the most about life the in impressive home.
Sticking to the diplomatic script, both replied, "The people."
"The people who make this house what it is are just amazing," said Mrs. Cheney. "They've really been wonderful," said the vice president.
But how about the food? "We'll miss that, too," replied the vice president.
