CNN moving to ‘facial hair-challenged’ talk anchor

When CNN announced that John King would take over Wolf Blitzer’s gig as host of the cable network’s Sunday talk show “Late Edition,” we had to wonder: Could this mean that the always clean-cut King might follow in Blitzer’s footsteps and grow a beard?
“I’m facial hair-challenged,” acknowledged King, although he conceded he did get his gray hair “after Blitzer left the White House” and King took over that beat.

What say you, Blitzer?

“I have encouraged him to be himself,” he said when asked about King’s lack of facial hair. “That’s the best advice to give anybody moving up.”

Here’s one thing you won’t see on “Late Edition”: holograms. (CNN turned field correspondents into on-set holograms during its election night coverage this year … to mixed reviews.)

“Not to criticize the hologram ... but I don’t see it” working on the Sunday show, King said.
