Elizabeth Edwards “not that fond” of Obama’s health care plan

10/28/08 3:53 PM EDT

Rx for infighting

Politics is full of compromises, right?

Well, consider this example: Elizabeth Edwards – wife of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards and currently a health care advisor to Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign – isn’t 100% behind the Democratic nominee’s health care plan.

“We're on the verge of an Obama Presidency," said Edwards at George Washington University Monday night, and “I’m not that fond of his plan.” Edwards complained that Obama – like his Republican rival, Sen. John McCain -- views healthcare as a commodity, rather than a human right. Still, Edwards called the plan a step in the right direction – despite its lack of a "mandate for universality” – and said it wouldn’t scare people and politicians as had the Clinton administration’s attempt in 1993.

However, Edwards’ critique of Obama’s plan doesn’t mean that she’s saving any love for McCain’s health care proposals. Edwards – who has battled breast cancer since 2004 – said McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.”

Oh..now here is someone we need to get medical advice from...give me a break!!!!

Oct 28, 2008

You can bet Elizabeth has been making her own decisions regarding her medical treatment. This elitist attitude of these people is precisely why we do not need nor want them running the health care of our nation. btw, my last name is Edwards

Oct 28, 2008

that last statement says it all about how liberals think. we are all to stupid to make decisions for ourselves so we have to have the government make those decisions for us.

Oct 28, 2008

Her only credential is a bankruptcy attorney. I guess if being ill makes us experts, we are all experts. And is she immune to making stupid business decisions? After all, she married the cheater.

Oct 28, 2008

Well, there you go. It's the typical liberal response to anything. The people are stupid, and you have to have the great and wonderful government take over making decisions for them. If that's not an attitude from the old USSR, what is? And if you think the government is so great at economic decision-making, then how did we get into the sub-prime mess we are in?

Oct 28, 2008

You mean like the stupid individuals in Congress who have ruined my retirement savings by forcing lenders to lend money to people who couldn't pay it back?

Oct 28, 2008

Uh, Elizabeth, health care is not a "right" as designated by the Constitution. The government does not give "rights" to people.

Oct 28, 2008

Universal healthcare and making the choices for us, sounds like socialism to me.

Oct 28, 2008

So individuals are not smart enough to make their own decisions? Oh, yeah...that's right. The Government knows what's best for us...we are too stupid to think for ourselves.

Oct 28, 2008

That's liberalism. Note the last sentence. They want to do things for you because you're too stupid to do it yourself!

Oct 28, 2008

I would rather make my own economic decisions than have any one of these Pols do it for me. Especially not Barry Obama or any Edwards family member.

Oct 28, 2008

make stupid economics decisions. whom ever made this comment is stupid i gues you think that you will be able to hire some one to make a economic decision about my health yea right

Oct 28, 2008

Individuals can “make stupid economics decisions"? Ms. Edwards, how might you describe the economic decisions our government makes? I would call them disastrous. What say you?

Oct 28, 2008

Not only do people make stupid economic decisions they also make stupid political decisions...so I guess we should take the right to vote from them since she doesn't want the individual to make their own decision....arrogant,arrogant

Oct 28, 2008

We sure wouldn't want the government to leave "the decision-making process up to individuals". Much better to have politicians make all decisions and force them down the individuals' throats.

Oct 28, 2008

"Edwards – who has battled breast cancer since 2004 – said McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.”" See how the left thinks the gov knows what is best?

Oct 28, 2008

It is a right for the richest country in the world not to let people die of cancer because they can't afford the treatments, medicine and care. This is disgusting.

Oct 28, 2008

Obviously, the scariest sentence in the article is the last one. "However, Edwards’ critique of Obama’s plan doesn’t mean that she’s saving any love for McCain’s health care proposals. Edwards – who has battled breast cancer since 2004 – said McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” So I should leave my medical decisions up to the government? Hmmm. That to me is the core problem with the current democrats. Stop making these kinds of decisions for me. If someone feels that they are not capable of making their own decisions and cant control their own life, let them ask the govt to do it. But I dont want that.

Oct 28, 2008

God forbid you leave the decision-making process to individuals! We need the big ol' government to tell us simpleton average Americans what to do. Sad. Completely sad.

Oct 28, 2008

I didn't know Politicians have the best economic advice! I guess all those Economists who study for years on end are stupid. They should just become politicians and everyone will listen to their opinions.

Oct 28, 2008

"... However, Edwards’ critique of Obama’s plan doesn’t mean that she’s saving any love for McCain’s health care proposals. Edwards – who has battled breast cancer since 2004 – said McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” ..." Why should we expect typical politicians to have superior decision making skills. The Reid Pelosi management of Congress since January 2007 scares me more than my worst personal decision.

Oct 28, 2008

Typical rhetoric from a true liberal "make stupid economic decisions" therefore we must make the choices and decisions for them...Sounds like Socialism to me. What a goof for staying with that Cad. What a goof the media are for hiding the cad's affair when they knew about. If this doesn't expose the media for bias I don't know what would - or maybe I do...Barry O's association with all the wrong people all the time. Vote for REAL PRESIDENT vote for MCCAIN

Oct 28, 2008

what is next food care, car care, insurance care, when doe's it stop.well she is backing the right guy, just remember under your bud your going to get blasted. why don't you just give your wealth to acorn.

Oct 28, 2008

Human Right? Mandate for Universality. I know Obama is a Socialist, but this gal jumped that step right to communist. These lefty loons haven't even learned the simple wisdom from "The Incredibles." "Everybody is special" "Which means that nobody is"

Oct 28, 2008

The quotes in this story ring really false.

Oct 28, 2008

I'm not fond of it either and I'm 100% behind Senator Obama. If he came out a year ago with a single payer plan, he probably would have gone down in flames with Kucinich and Edwards. Talk about getting painted into a corner as socialist or Marxist. Got to give the kid credit... he knows exactly the stepping stones to get him into the White House. If the Congress sends him universal care, single payer, what do you think he'll do? Sign it or veto it?

Oct 28, 2008

Wow! Healthcare is a RIGHT, Ms. Edwards? Since when? Sounds like you are touting the political ideologies of the Weimar Republic. What happens next, then? Full-on socialism.

Oct 28, 2008

I'll fight to protect my God given right to make stupid decisions!

Oct 28, 2008

As if the GOVERNMENT makes all the right decisions for us. Please. Show me in the Constitution or Bill of Rights where universal healthcare is enumerated as a right! Seems like Marx is more of an influence with these dems than Washington or Lincoln or Jefferson. Maybe there should be a government office for universal marriage fidelity too, because people in marriages make stupid extra-marital decisions. John and Bill can fight each other for head of the line.... and Elizabeth and Hillary can commiserate on how they had no idea what was going on. People that clueless shoud not be advising anybody on anything.

Oct 28, 2008

Where is the outrage? Where is the criticism? This is totally inexcusable. Here is Elizabeth Edwards saying that the US Government SHOULD be making personal decisions for citizen's personal health care, and nobody is crying foul? I am dismayed at the state of political affairs in this country. We are truly going down the path to socialism. May as well start supporting Hugo Chavez and the Bolivarian revolution, 'cause that's where we're headed... What about the decision of a woman to have or not to have an abortion? I bet she's in favor of that decision because it's in line with the democratic platform...! Other health care decisions need to be left up to the government, of course, because the common man is too stupid to make a decision for himself. What a bunch of malarkey.

Oct 28, 2008

We have a lot of rights in this country. One of those rights is the right to be stupid, ie make bad decisions. It is not the gov'ts responsibility to save us from ourselves. Please, just leave me alone to make my own choices. No one called Elizabeth Edwards stupid to putting up with and staying with her scumbag husband.

Oct 28, 2008

Why would ANYONE be fond of a costly wasteful program when our country is BROKE? If you exceed your credit card limit you don’t go out and purchase a new Jaguar. Healthcare needs to be REFORMED so that it’s more cost effective and we need to STOP handing out $BILLIONS to illegals, the USA is NOT a freaking welcome mat for 3rd world peasants to wipe their feet on, they are wiping their feet on the backs of tax paying American citizens and the government doesn’t care (either party). Wake up you partisan idiots, BOTH major parties are giving your Republic away!

Oct 28, 2008

this chick is dumb as dirt. her wimpy little husband aint much better.

Oct 28, 2008

Sorry, Elizabeth, but if I make a "stupid economics decision" it affects me and my family. If the government does, it affects hundreds of millions of people. Tell me, which is worse again?

Oct 28, 2008

As an aging liberal hippie douche, I believe that the government has proven itself to be wiser than any of you individuals. Take our excellent handling of the congressional restaraunt ($2 million dollar loss), the bailout, Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac (Bailout cost and market value loss $3.8 Trillion or so), Medicare (bankrupt in 7 years), Social Secuirty (bankrupt in 18 years), Energy Production (done nothing, or everything to get in the way). See we know what's best for you all.

Oct 28, 2008

...said McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” So the governemtn thinks I am stupid and can not make decisions on my own. Give me a break.

Oct 28, 2008

Edwards said McCain's plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently "make stupid econonmics decisions." What are you serious? Allow me to make my own decisions? Why, when the government can do that for me? Stupid Democrats.

Oct 28, 2008

Gosh, I don't know how I lived this long without someone like Edwards to make my healthcare choices for me. What a stupid women. We can feel sorry for her condition, which I do, BUT she has NO right telling me I am too dumb to make economic decisions about my family.

Oct 28, 2008

It is not the place of the federal government to provide healthcare! I wish that these morons would get that through their heads.

Oct 28, 2008

Newsflash for Mrs. Edwards - health care IS NOT A RIGHT! Per the Constitution, a right is something given to you by your creator that the government cannot take away. i.e. life, libery, pursuit of happiness, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc. By definition, anything that requires another to provide something to you CANNOT BE A RIGHT! Therefore, since healthcare requires someone to provide you a service and/or medicine, IT CANNOT BE A RIGHT! It is not your right to demand someone provide you health care. That said, we live in the wealthiest nation in the world. As privaledged as we are, we should be able to find a way to privde affordable health care for all. However, I don't think that gov't mandated/controlled healthcare is the answer at all.

Oct 28, 2008

This is so wrong on so many counts. Health care is NOT a right, and "leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who frequently "make stupid economics decisions" is a stupid, socialist statement. One question for the know-it-all socialist who thinks she knows what is better for Americans than they do: Did you have an abortion as a young woman?

Oct 28, 2008

This is it in a nutshell. Just identify the one successful, economically sound, and managerially viable Federal Government program that any Federally managed Health Care system would be modeled after. Don't bother thinking, we all know THERE ISN'T ONE!!!!

Oct 28, 2008

Of course we can't allow individuals to make their own decisions....that would be ridiculous. The Government MUST make the decisions for all of the workers! Pray for our country with Obama at the helm.

Oct 28, 2008

Stupid decisions like voting for Obama? It never ceases to amaze me how often Democrats belittle common folk even while asking for their vote. It is elitist and demeaning to suggest that common folk can't take care of themselves and need the government to act as their nannies.

Oct 28, 2008

No wonder why John cheated on her. She's a dingbat.

Oct 28, 2008

Wasn't she the one who also said that women have the right to make their own decisions regarding and abortion and that government should stay out of it. Wonder why she changed her mind.

Oct 28, 2008

the patient and their doctor should make the decision!!!!!! Not a bean counter. You want to know the "Q" for surgery in England? It is 300,000! They go to southern Spain to get it done faster! In Canada you are denied heart bypass surgery if you are 65 or older! Thats what happens when the individual looses the right to choose his own doctor and health care path. DJS

Oct 28, 2008

What? Seriously what the? How can anyone even justify agreeing with ignorant people like this? My little sister has more common sense than this woman? I just want to know who the heck gave her a microphone and would sit there and listen to her?

Oct 28, 2008

Oh, So let's leave it up to the government to "make smart economic decisions." They have done such a bang up job with the financial crisis we are in now. No thank you. I will make my own decisions, thank you.

Oct 28, 2008

Obama and Edwards are left winged liberals. They want health care for all. Are they going to pay for it all? Why bother working if everything comes free from the government. This makes me sick!

Oct 28, 2008

(...fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.”) A liberal finally vocalizes their core belief. All political arguments can be boiled down to this one fundemental distinction: liberals believe that we need to be saved from ourselves. Idiots are telling us that we're idiots and we believe them. What does that make us? Some of you need to ask yourselves why you so badly want a career politician to have the answers to all of your worlds problems. The fact that you assume the preponderence of people to be incompetent speaks volumes about you.

Oct 28, 2008

Anybody who doubts the effort of BHO to turn this country to socialism need read no further than the last quoted statement from Ms. Edwards ( an admitted advisor). If you still believe the Democrats believe your smart enough manage your life on your own, you are drinking the home grown kool aid, not the bricks that come over the border.

Oct 28, 2008

A liberal is a man with both feet planted firmly in the air. Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy. You don't make the poor richer by making the rich poorer; it is the people who control the Government, not the Government the people. Some regard private enterprise as if it were a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look upon it as a cow that they can milk. Only a handful see it for what it really is - the strong horse that pulls the whole cart. The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent vice of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.

Oct 28, 2008

"...leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently "make stupid economics decisions"." REALLY? I'm more likely to make 'stupid decisions' than the government???

Oct 28, 2008

Obama and McCain are right! Health care *is* a commodity, not a basic human right. (By the way, this makes it even *more* wrong to pay for it with tax-and-spend socialism.)

Oct 28, 2008

"McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” Ummmm totalitarian socialism much? Last time I checked public goods were much worse than private ownership.

Oct 28, 2008

Just what is wrong with people showing a little personal responsibility by making their own decisions. The federal government shouldn't be the only entity allowed stupid economic decisions.

Oct 28, 2008

What's the difference between Osama and Obama? One is an America-hating Islamic militant who is hell-bent on destroying our way of life... ...and the other is the leader of Al Qaeda.

Oct 28, 2008

Her point is simple: give people $5,000 and how likely are they to spend it properly? Highly unlikely if you consider the current mortgage crisis. You don't think that insurance companies will be attempting to lure people into plans that are just as terrible as the ARMs? What will you do then? Complain that governments shouldn't regulate, then complain that the government didn't do anything? Give me a break, history shows us her point is valid.

Oct 28, 2008

The Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Redfern said that Americans don't want to help the poor so they need to be forced to do it. In 2006 we(individuals) gave about 300 billion! Just imagine what it was after Katrina! There are over 30,000 food pantries and soup kitchens. That's like 1 for every 10,000 people. In NY its 1 for every 7500. That's crazy! Don't tell me people aren't generous and need to be forced to give. How many help others that aren't even counted in the above? What the gov't needs to do is to teach people how to budget. But you can't force them to do that either unless you are giving a handout. It's because people want too much stuff. We wouldn't have such a plethora of thrift stores if people didn't have too much. Turn off the TV and stop looking at magazines that are there to make you jealous.

Oct 28, 2008

I'll be so happy when the government protects me from making "stupid economic decisions". Liberals know it all even when they don't.

Oct 28, 2008

If they want to make it a human right, then should we also be responsible to protect it and buy insurance? We need to collectively grow up. No one owes me health insurance any more than they owe me food or shelter. Want healthcare? Buy Anthem/Blue Cross insurance!

Oct 28, 2008

Will CBS, and NBC cover this story? I doubt it. I suppose they too think stupid American individuals will read/hear about Ms. Edwards comments and come to the wrong conclusion --- vote Republican. PLEASE - someone make a bumper sticker that reads "Don't blame me America turned Socialist. I voted for mcCain/Palin"!

Oct 28, 2008

If you love this you will really like it when they nationalize your 401(k). Remember when Bush wanted to give us the right to invest a portion of our SS. The government (mainly Democrats) said they could do a better job. I guess those economic geniuses were on the board at Freddie and Fannie.

Oct 28, 2008

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions. What else do you need to hear

Oct 28, 2008

where's the cake?

Oct 28, 2008

Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy. The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent vice of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. Some regard private enterprise as if it were a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look upon it as a cow that they can milk. Only a handful see it for what it really is - the strong horse that pulls the whole cart. Winston Churchill

Oct 28, 2008

Like a typical elitist, Elizabeth thinks the American people are too stupid to make their own health care decisions, so we need people like her who are smarter than people like us to make our decisions for us! Wow, what a condescending mentality!

Oct 28, 2008

But government CAN'T make a stupid economic decision, which affects us all, not just the individual who made his own stupid decision?

Oct 28, 2008

Funny, healthcare is a human right, unless your an unborn child.

Oct 28, 2008

note to miss Edwards .dont you think this is something you can take up with senator Obama after the election.iam quiet sure things can always be tweak.

Oct 28, 2008

...leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” As opposed to leaving decision making up to the government that ALWAYS makes stupid economic decisions? Keep the government out of my life, thank you very much. Funny how the framers of our consititution very smartly limited the power of government but now politicians are scrambling to put the government in charge of more and more of our lives. Wake up people. For now we still have the power to put a stop to the madness. Don't wait until they strip us of that power too. We have to wake up and take responsibility for ourselves, otherwise the government is going to slowly strip us of more of our rights. Like boiling a toad, we won't realize the water is boiling until it is too late.

Oct 28, 2008

Healthcare has never been a RIGHT and never should be. It's a privilege and it needs to be earned. We have the best healthcare in the world and yet we are 11th in wellness? Why? Because we are fat/lazy and most of us abuse the "free" system rather than take personal responsibility for own own personal fitness. Healthcare should be a cash only business with no government involvement.

Oct 28, 2008

ken@daypak.com: "that last statement says it all about how liberals think. we are all to stupid to make decisions for ourselves so we have to have the government make those decisions for us." ----- You are right.... the NANNY STATE comes into full bloom.

Oct 28, 2008

McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” *************************************** There it is folks, the money quote and a perfect picture of what the left thinks of Americans. According to these people we are just to stupid to think for ourselves. The arrogance of these twits is stunning. It seems they cannot even comprehend how insulting they are. It is evident that those that support this "nanny " Government approach are unable to think for themselves and actually NEEDE the Democrats to do everything for them. How sad for them.

Oct 28, 2008

Oh heavens no, we can't let people be in charge of their own health care! Even when they're trying to help people, Democrats can't help but reveal that they think people on average are so much more stupid than they are. Did Elizabeth Edwards have a government doctor tell her what to do for her cancer? I highly doubt it.

Oct 28, 2008

'Stupid economic decisions?' Ohh that's right, I forgot, I'm just a pheasant. What would I know about the economy or health care? I'm so stupid, thank you so so much Mrs. Edwards for taking the big bad decisions over my life away from me! I wouldn't want to be in control of my life, no sir!

Oct 28, 2008

Mccain leaving decision making processes to individuals is the main reason I'm voting for him.

Oct 28, 2008

Absurd government spending, the Patriot Act, bailing out poorly run companies, ill-planned war... And you want me to believe Republicans are conservative capitalists? McCain and Obama both have shortcomings but they are also the best each party could have offered. Come on America, it's time to unite!

Oct 28, 2008

NANNY STATE USA Things Government will no control for the stupid citizenry. health care diet work choices exercise size of family "volunteer" work military service education We will all be better off if we let Mahdi OBAMA set the course of our lives for us. I feel so much better. I no longer need to have any ambition or free will. - help.

Oct 28, 2008

As someone who has struggled with serious health issues for 16 years (half of my life), I think her comment is ridiculous. I'm sorry, but I don't want the government making decisions on my care. My issues have not been easily diagnosable, and I've already been to hell and back. I'm grateful I have the opportunity to make decisions on my own, otherwise I would never have made it as far as I have. On a similar note, I would like to ask the politicians one question in regards to universal health care - has anyone done the math to see if we even have enough medical providers to take care of everyone? Because last time I checked (and I worked in healthcare consulting for several years) we don't even have enough providers to take care of those people who are currently covered. What's the solution there? More outsourcing?

Oct 28, 2008

I think she is taking this adviser role a little too serious , i am quiet sure Barack put her on his team out of courtesy to her husband who did endorse him.after all she was on the hillary bandwagon. What a DUMB THING to come out and say before nov 4th. leave your opinion for after the election. I guess DEMS cant help themselves when things are going too good.

Oct 28, 2008

She hit the nail on the head! The Democrat's philosophy in a nutshell: [the} plan fails by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently "make stupid economic decisions." People are just to stupid to make decisions for themselves on money or health....Hello, did you say Nanny State?

Oct 28, 2008

It's not about the government having control of what you decide, it's just helping people get medical insurance. This system now is broken, it treats people as the product. Even those insured aren't necessarily covered well /(depending on policy). The health insurance companies continue to make windfalls. I don't agree with mandates, but easier to get insurance along with more cost effictive insurance is the way to. Why do we need to rack up bills in the ER when an antibiotic prescription could have fixed the problem. Obama's plan will help lower local taxes since they are pulled from property tax

Oct 28, 2008

Yeah, I'm too dumb to think for myself. I need the government to do it for me. They couldn't even manage home mortgages. I want to trust them with my healthcare?

Oct 28, 2008

Earth to Elizabeth: we don't need people like you, self-righteous, condescending and smug, making decisions for us. We want to make the decisions about our own bodies. THAT is our right.

Oct 28, 2008

Is anyone catching this???? she said, McCain's plan fails in all important areas BY LEAVING THE DECISION-MAKING PROCESS UP TO INDIVIDUALS, WHO CAN FREQUENTLY MAKE STUPID ECONOMICS DECISIONS." In essence, she says (and this is standard liberal belief) you, the american citizen are too stupid to manage your own healthcare. Therefore, we (the government) will decide what's best for you. Classic and blatant SOCIALISM!

Oct 28, 2008

This pretty well says it all about the left. "At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child - miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill disciplined, despotic, and useless. Liberalism is the philosophy of sniveling brats." - P.J. O'Rourke This is what the Left thinks of the general population as exhibited by left wing radical ANARCHIST and Obama supporter William Ayers: "Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home. Kill your parents, that's where it's really at." --Bill Ayers, Weather Underground, 1970

Oct 28, 2008

Don't let the Democrats win! Vote McCain/Palin in 2008. And Hillary in 2012!

Oct 28, 2008

Me American cant think for self Please help me democrats! me make stupid desisions

Oct 28, 2008

I'm a breast cancer survivor and I'm eternally grateful that I had a say in my treatment. And thanks for calling me stupid!

Oct 28, 2008

McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” I think this means that McCain's plan would still give you freedom to choose! Aren;t we supposed to have freedom?

Oct 28, 2008

"It is not the place of the federal government to provide healthcare! I wish that these morons would get that through their heads." It's about creating a system that works. The current system doesn't and less and less people are able to get insurance. It's a joke. Your go it alone attitude is fine... until you lose YOUR job and are left without health care.

Oct 28, 2008

See here is the crux of the problem with the Democratic party. They honestly do not feel people, you and I, are intelligent enough to make our own decisions. They think we need them to treat us like babies.

Oct 28, 2008

The left is no longer even trying to hide their agenda. Her last sentence, "individuals, make stupid economic decisions" pretty much sums up the divide in our country. Half of us (I assume there are still 50% out there), still belive that is our God given, as well as Constitutionally given RIGHT, to yes make our OWN decicisions. No matter if they are "stupid" or not. This is unreal what is going on in this country.

Oct 28, 2008

It is a God-given right to be sick, dammit!!! Anyway, Obama basically wants universal government-run health care, right? The same institution that runs the IRS should run health care. Oh, that's smart.

Oct 28, 2008

I'm not sure why Obama supporters are bashing Ms. Edwards. Obama chose her as an advisor and now you attack her for speaking out against him. You sound like your friend Obama attacking another citizen I know, Joe the Plumber. Obama has some pretty thin skin, as do those of you who can't even deal with someone that disagrees with your candidate.

Oct 28, 2008

What does Elizbeth Edwards have that qualifies her for health care advisor. Patients that treat themselves have fools for doctors and are fools themselves.

Oct 28, 2008

"McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.”" What the heck???? - but what if I don't want the nanny state in my medical decisions...or my bedroom...or my boardroom for that matter? When did we become a nation of dependent whiners unwilling or unable to take responsibility for our own decisions? The founding fathers and Ronald Reagan are rolling in their graves!

Oct 28, 2008

"individuals, who can frequently make stupid economics decisions”?? Not like the wonderful decisions made by the coconuts in congress, I guess. Here's a news flash for the socialists: I'd rather trust my life to my own decisions than to you idiots.

Oct 28, 2008

That last line says it all...the people are too stupid to make intelligent choices. Don't you just love elitist liberals?

Oct 28, 2008

Mrs. Edwards can afford any health care she desires. Universal health care would be a disaster. It won't work. Why do you think Canadians come here? As for the Constitution, it is dead.

Oct 28, 2008

The democrats are behaving exactly Scientologist lately, “Never defend, always attack” Palin, Joe the plumber, the news anchor’s husband in Florida…they use government computers to research and smear any dissenting opinions–truly sad and scary–Elizabeth should be afraid; be very, very afraid.

Oct 28, 2008

Oh please no, not another Canadian health care scheme! Elizabeth, don't you know that the "free" health care in Canada means everything else costs more in order to pay for it? Don't you know it means waiting for months and often years to get surgery? And don't you know that a lawsuit was won in Canada last year giving people there the RIGHT to have their own health insurance so they could get their health care in a timely manner?! God save us from well meaning politicians like Edwards and Obama!

Oct 28, 2008

As a recent near death intensive care patient with weeks of hospital and at home therapy, I can safely say that I'm damn glad the government wasn't involved.

Oct 28, 2008

Oh, so again, we need the government to tell us how to live our lives and make our own decisions. We're too stupid?!!! God Bless you!

Oct 28, 2008

And I suppose the government will want to choose our spouse also. That way we wont choose a slime ball.

Oct 28, 2008

GOD Help US,

Oct 28, 2008

Do you think that sounds a bit like socialism?! People better be waking up!

Oct 28, 2008

"""leaves the decision up to individuals?"""" and we make stupid decisions??? UHHH last time i checked my checkbook was balanced..how about yours?? or the govts?? You liberals always think u can spend my money better than me.... talk about idiots..

Oct 28, 2008

Anyone want to trade their health insurance for Medicaid? How about the Indian Health Service? I have worked in both systems as well as the VA and Tricare. The government making these kind of decisions is really not a good idea. If you need medicine for an illness, you may find that some government bean counter has decided that the pill size you only have to take once a day is too costly, so they will make you take 3 a day. Maybe the pill that doesn't cause some side effect is too costly, so you have to suck it up, "Side-effect Boy". These are daily realities of the government run systems of today. Anyone really want this?

Oct 28, 2008

Typical liberal... the masses are too stupid to make their own decisions. We will come up with one size fits all plan for America which takes away the free choice of the consumer and will be perfect for everyone. Mrs. Edwards If you want health care treated as a right of all people, then get an amendment to the constitution or shut up. Oh, that's right you don't have to... you can just put an activist judge on the bench who can interpret the right to free healthcare into the Bill of Rights.

Oct 28, 2008

Where does it list Health Care Guarantees in the Constitution or the Bible? And to say that we the people are too stupid to make our own decisions?

Oct 28, 2008

My god, so now we don't want to give people the opportunity to choose their health care since people "make stupid economics decisions?" Nice, yes, this plan doesn't go far enough. Health care is a "right." Forgive my ignorance but, isn't freedom a right guaranteed by our creator and defined in our constitution? I don't seem to remember anything about the gov needs to make sure we all receive the same crappy health care and I highly doubt "Liz" would receive the same as the average Joe.

Oct 28, 2008

So, health care is a "human right" according to Edwards? Is food a human right? Last time I checked, it ain't free. Is electricity a human right? Seems to me I have to pay for that too. How about my water - isn't that a human right? My water bill came yesterday. Edwards, you are a clown, just like your husband. When was the last time you gave up any of your health care for someone else? In some countries you wouldn't have even received treatment because your breast cancer was metastatic and they would have rationed your care in favor of someone salvagable.

Oct 28, 2008

What about the millions of people who do not want to buy health insurance? Why should the government force people to buy insurance they do not want? Stop the OBAMA Socialism

Oct 28, 2008

The last time I checked the constitution, the only rights guaranteed are, Life, Liberty and the Persuit of Happiness.

Oct 28, 2008

This is amazing, I am too stupid to make my own decisions, when I have a degree in health care... again amazing.

Oct 28, 2008

the stupid economic decisions regular people make are the ones that don't put money in the elite bank accounts!

Oct 28, 2008

So I'm too stupid to make my own decision about my health inurance....pleasse

Oct 28, 2008

Where did she get her Medical Degree? Oh, I know....Reed/Pelosi/Obama Med School. Thanks but no thanks to Barry's plan. I really AM smarter than him! and so is my dog

Oct 28, 2008

THANK YOU, MS. EDWARDS. In the last line of this article, you sum up beautifully what we conservatives have always said liberals believe about their compatriots. Finally, a little truth from the left. Hot damn.

Oct 28, 2008

i could be really mean and say some individuals make stupid extramarital decisions, but i won't.

Oct 28, 2008

Health care is NOT a right. It is a service that each individual purchases for himself. When the government runs health care the service providers (doctors) will do what the government wants, not what the sick person wants. It's bad enough that we are letting HMOs ruin the quality of care. Add the government and you have a sure fire failure in the making.

Oct 28, 2008

"McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently 'make stupid economics decisions.'" Man, I'm so glad I'll just be able to sit back, relax, and let the government make all my decisions for me. Because we all know that the government knows best(like forcing banks to relax lending standards). And apparently Mrs. Edwards thinks I'm too stupid to make a decision for myself. Thanks for letting us know what you really think about the people of this country!

Oct 28, 2008

I thought the Constitution allows me to be stupid, if I want.

Oct 28, 2008

That's right Elizabeth, health care is a "right". And of course we need bureaucrats to make decisions for people. After all we are too stupid to know better. Behind that country smile is one arrogant *itch.

Oct 28, 2008

The audacity to say that individuals "make stupid economic decisions'. Does it make more sense to leave the economic decisions to Congress, Wall Street, and/or the Treasury? Clearly their collective expertise leaves a bit to be desired or has Elizabeth missed all of the news lately. Thanks Elizabeth, but no thanks, I would prefer to make my own decisions.

Oct 28, 2008

-McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.”- Yeah, lets take away everyone's ability to choose lest they make a mistake. I just don't mean health care either, jobs, money, houses. Nobody should own property either. I can't wait tell I no longer have to think for myself.

Oct 28, 2008

I am tired of being told I am too stupid to make a decision.

Oct 28, 2008

Well she doesnt hide and call us stupid but she sounds stupid for thinking she is better than others in making sound decisions. I want the right to make my own mistakes and not the government doing it for me.

Oct 28, 2008

You know, I think I'm as smart as Elizabeth Edwards. I did a lot better picking a husband! And I bet I can make my own health care decisions to boot!

Oct 28, 2008

Unbelievable -- let us make stupid decisions -- just let us make them for ourselves. I'll put my faith in the American people over the Federal Government.

Oct 28, 2008

I have an idea! How about we let all the Dems that want to pay higher taxes, use it to appropriate the funds to others Dems for Universal Healthcare. That way the Reps. that don't want to pay higher taxes can use their existing health care services using the extra money they can keep before tax increases. The Dems will be happy with the tax increase and the Reps will be elated without one.

Oct 28, 2008

So McCain's plan fails because it actually puts a patient's health responsibilities in their own hands... Shocking!

Oct 28, 2008

Yes, Liz...you are so brilliant and all knowing. I can't make important decisions regarding my own body and my own healthcare, so I shall leave it up to you (since you and your husband have proven to be so honest and intelligient) and Obama the Marxist (because he's the glorious messiah)to make my health care decisions for me. Thank you so much, almighty ones!

Oct 28, 2008

Good Lord!!! "...leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently make stupid economic decisions." Can anyone one say Big Brother is "a knockin" on the door. Brace yourself for the mother of all "nanny states." Where's John Galt when we need him.

Oct 28, 2008

"stupid economic decisions"? I think I can do better than spend thousands on a toilet seat or hundreds for a hammer, funny only the government knows whats best. I can think on my own

Oct 28, 2008

"stupid economic decisions"? I think I can do better than spend thousands on a toilet seat or hundreds for a hammer, funny only the government knows whats best. I can think on my own

Oct 28, 2008

Health care a "human right"? Are you going to force doctors to administer health care for less than they wish to be compensated? Are you going to force college students into medical school to make sure this "human right" is fulfilled for all? A human right is something for all that is not at the expense of others Ms. Edwards.

Oct 28, 2008

Isn't it like a typical liberal who don't trust people with their own money, thus trusting the bureaucrats with the decision making for 300 million americans.

Oct 28, 2008

I don't want my higher taxes paying for crackheads' health benefits. If you want health care, get off the couch, get an education, get a better job, and pay part or all of your own damn benefits. I did and went from $17k to $165k on my own sweat, no handouts here.

Oct 28, 2008

Isn't it like a typical liberal who don't trust people with their own money, thus trusting the bureaucrats with the decision making for 300 million americans.

Oct 28, 2008

"...said McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” Umm, doesn't government do the same thing? I seem to remember a certain 700 billion bailout plan that main street was railing against. Let's see, I'm 29 and pay into a social security system that will be totally defunct before I hit an age of dreaming of what I will do with it. I seem to remember the government being the one with the key to the vaults for that. I seem to remember a word called "Freedom." A word that I thought I laid my life down for for 9 years of my life. Freedom means you have the right to make your own decisions for yourself. You also have to live with those decisions. Just remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is a government that will surely take everything you have.

Oct 28, 2008

"leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently 'make stupid economics decisions.'" Spoken like a true Socialist-Democrat" (the new name of the Democrat party) The people are "stupid" only the government "Ruling Class" (under Soc-Dem control) can make decisions for them. What ever happened to the right to make your own decisions? I thought this was still America, not the former Soviet Union or Venezuela.

Oct 28, 2008

>> Edwards...said McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” Do the elitists really believe that government can make better decisions than I?

Oct 28, 2008

"Edwards – who has battled breast cancer since 2004 – said McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” " So we should all trust faceless bureaucracies - which, of course, always make wise judgments - to make our decisions for us ?

Oct 28, 2008

America shall have Sharia Healthcare under OBAMA.

Oct 28, 2008

Whatever happened to personal responsibility? Shouldn't some people be held accountable for failing to make the right decisions? Why is the government better at making decisions than normal citizens? Maybe if the government could be controlling your husband's decisions, he wouldn't be out screwing that other woman, or would he?

Oct 28, 2008

The attitude that individuals frequently make "stupid economic decisions" is used as the justification for many policies that aspire to inject the government coffers with more tax payer money. Individuals may make unintelligent choices at times, but how often does government make bad choices and how much more damage do governmental choices do than individual choices? The effects of bad government choices are far more wide-reaching.

Oct 28, 2008

BOs plan is nuts...people will cancel their work sponsored plan to get the free gov't plan...and it will costs trillions! Just look at Hawaii...

Oct 28, 2008

I'm a staunch conservative but look what we've done. Bush with his compassionate conservatism (spend, spend, spend) and weak-kneed repubs in Congress and the Senate have left us in a position to watch the left takeover and forever enact socialist policies. Blame the Left if you want but first take a look in the mirror.

Oct 28, 2008

Have you ever been to a VA Hospital? That's an example of government run health system. Have you ever spoken to someone in Canada or the UK about their healthcare system? You'll die waiting for an operation...that is socialized medicine. We don't need government to run our healthcare. What we need to do is get rid of frivolous lawsuits against hospitals and doctors. We need to take power away from insurance companies that dictate medical care. Why do you think there is a decrease in the number of applications to medical schools? The best and the brightest no longer want to go into medicine because of the lawsuits and the insurance companies. The best doctors we have are retiring early because they can't deal with it. Big Government is not the answer. Obama will be a disaster. Please don't vote for him.

Oct 28, 2008

“make stupid economics decisions.” Come on Elizabeth, isn't that what America is all about? Freedom allows us to “make stupid economics decisions.” and also sound economic decisions. I don't need the government making my decisions for me. I work for the government, and they make some pretty stupid decisions.

Oct 28, 2008

Her comment that McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions" says everything. And the liberals call themselves pro-choice? Get out of my life, get out of my healthcare, get out of my pocketbook. Your family has already shown the world the kind of decisions you make(Sen. Edwards,), so please leave us alone. We don't need your brainpower helping us.

Oct 28, 2008

Just leave my health care up to me. I don't need any fing help from King Obama or any of his underlings

Oct 28, 2008

Elizabeth Edwards is the health advisor to the criminal Hussein Obama? He is just using her, as he uses everyone else in his life! John McCain for President!

Oct 28, 2008

Oh, by all means, Government, make my decisions for me. You've got such a great track record.

Oct 28, 2008

IF THE GOVERNMENT WANTS TO PAY FOR HEALTH CARE LET'S TO IT ON THEIR DIME. LET US DEDUCT OUR HEALTH CARE PREMIUMS FROM OUR TAXES. THAT WOULD DO MORE FOR THE ECONOMY AND HEALTH CARE THAN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TAKING IT OVER.

Oct 28, 2008

they can make stupid political decisions too like supporting a ultra liberal

Oct 28, 2008

What???...is she serious...is that a real answer? lady, your kidding right? "said McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” " So...let me get this straight...I am to stupid to make my own decisions and shold leave that to her and the government to make those decisions.

Oct 28, 2008

Does she think government should be the one making our medical decisions?

Oct 28, 2008

HEALTH CARE is not in the Bill of Rights or the Constitution any more than Home-Ownership or "Economic Justice" is a right. We have eaten the “bitter socialist pill” of home “economic justice” in the form of Fannie and Freddy subprime loans which have humiliated the borrowers and destabilized everyone financial institution and more down the line. The last thing we need is universal health care or even the Obama initiatives that foist bad business practices on everybody in the medical show, just as sub primes did in the financial show. If you want to see financial and institutional collapse, just wait until Obama starts pounding on small business, medical insurance and the medical profession. Good Day Comrades

Oct 28, 2008

Individuals making stupid economics decisions. This is what the Dems think of everyone without a law degree and even those if they happen to be Republican. There isn't a law against making stupid decisions and when have government bureaucrats been geniuses at anything Liz?

Oct 28, 2008

Typical liberal slave owner mentality that us stupid peasants can't think for ourselves and they have all the anwers.

Oct 28, 2008

Boy, if that ain't a ringing endorsement of McCain's plan, I don't know what is..."McCain's plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals...". To me, that plan sounds pretty darn American! Go McCain! Thanks Mrs Edwards!

Oct 28, 2008

leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” What is wrong with these people. We are in a contry full of sheep.

Oct 28, 2008

Let's see.....leaving decision making up to individuals. That would be called a "bill of rights" now wouldn't it? Or are we now part of the Soviet Union. Stupid idiots like this are why this county is in the shape it's in.

Oct 28, 2008

Try the British National Health Service if you want to see how the government makes your healthcare decisions for you. We have a commission that decides what drugs are cost-effective. If they don't approve a drug, you can't get it. You aren't even allowed to pay for it yourself (get back in line there!). Even if they eventually approve a new drug,it takes years. You can die first.

Oct 28, 2008

"said McCain’s plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.”" Isn't that just part of natural selection? My God people, it's not always a bad thing when someone dies. Don't you think Mother Nature knows a bit more about things than we do?

Oct 28, 2008

Name ONE agency run by the government that is efficient and qualified to make decisions about something as personal as my health care! People who are too stupid to make their own medical decisions are doomed, and save the taxpayers money in the long run. Sounds like a win-win to me!

Oct 28, 2008

I am too stupid I guess to understand the constitution or the bill of rights. I do not remember reading the United States Government was required to supply health care as a "right". Healthcare is a commodity. Using John McCains plan - the taxpayer gets to choose where he/she wants to purchase health care. Also health care provided by companies was only done so to compete with unions.

Oct 28, 2008

How typically socialist of her... don't trust the people to make their own decisions, because they make stupid decisions and the government ALWAYS knows what's better for you than you do, silly. Statements like this are really increasing in frequency lately, and Americans desperately need to take note of who we're about to hand the power to in this country. We need to tell ALL these socialists to go form their own country on some deserted island somewhere. The Democratic Party has moved SO far to the left that they are outright unAmerican at this point. Go move to France, you America-hating fools.

Oct 28, 2008

Well she's right about one thing. You laypersons cannot make rational decisions when you are the patient. It's not possible. BIAS, undeniable. Pain/life/death/nausea... you can think clearly when those things are looming? No, you cannot.

Oct 28, 2008

Shortly after the husband confessed Mrs Edwards and her hubby were giving a speech on cancer at a college in Massachusetts she was being paid a fee. Can you imagine giving a speech and be paid for it whereas a a person wo was not well known would gladly give the speech for free. these people have the best medical care.what do they really know about paying for health care. She seems to be doing well with her terrible prognosis. Or what that a lie also so he could win .

Oct 28, 2008

Another perfect example of why we should have the option to vote...."none of the above" in this year's presidential election. Both parties have really scraped the bottom of their respective barrels this time around.

Oct 28, 2008

Freedom of speech is not a God given right, it's a right afforded us by our Government and by our Constitution. Health care should be too. To let someone die simply because they aren't wealthy is just wrong on so many levels, it's immoral, it's unkind, and i bet if you asked Him, he'd say it's un-Christian too.

Oct 28, 2008

" by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” - So, I'm forced to be in a crappy plan, because OTHER PEOPLE won't make the correct decision??? Soooo - people that are willing to sell thier vote for a cigarette, or a dollar can be trusted to pick the next president - but when it comes to healthcare they aren't? Anyone else see a double standard here? The left thinks that everyone should be able to vote, and they will even help them to the polls, and tell them who to vote for - but when it comes to healthcare, they can't be trusted. What a joke!

Oct 28, 2008

Thanks Elizabeth for calling our attention to the fact that individuals make stupid economic decisions....sort of like the stupid decision you made to cover-up your husband's infidelities?

Oct 28, 2008

I am quite capable of making my own healthcare decisions and I don't want the government in my business.

Oct 28, 2008

The Libs are motivatng all the "Nanny Staters" go go out and vote. You should too to stop the transformation of America to Amerika.

Oct 28, 2008

The every ambitious Edwards family!

Oct 28, 2008

Hey Liz, here's a little medical advice for you: Tell John John to use a condom. No Charge!

Oct 28, 2008

Many people in the U.S. these days..are..too stupid to make some decisions for themselves. But, if it weren't for the greedy and opportunistic people who dumb them down and take advantage of them there wouldn't have to be a nanny state, at least to some degree.

Oct 28, 2008

Could you perhaps provide a source for the quote?

Oct 28, 2008

And right there is the scare. "individuals...make stupid economics decisions." Meaning that the government will do better? Yeah, right!

Oct 28, 2008

What reason is there to trust this woman's judgement when her claim to fame is being Pretty Boy's doormat?

Oct 28, 2008

Funny coming from a litigation lawyer and spouse who made MILLIONS suing drs. Lawyers heal thyselves!

Oct 28, 2008

Ironic "advice" regarding healthcare coming from a family of lawyers who made millions suing drs. Look in the litigation mirror to see why healthcare is in the state it is in!!

Oct 28, 2008

hey liberals think americans are stupid. So what.. I am a conservative and I think alot of Americans are stupid too. The 49 percent that are voting for Obummer. Yeah, they're pretty stupid.

Oct 28, 2008

What does she think about the draining cost of malpractice for our healthcare providers? Maybe we should ask John...

Oct 28, 2008

Another democrat telling us how stupid we are and how government should do everything for us. Will anyone have to work in the future or will be handed everything by congress?

Oct 28, 2008

yes. Government will fix our lives. Obama will save us from ourselves. All hail The One. Vote Obama '08...

Oct 28, 2008

" Edwards’ critique...plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals, who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.” There you have the Liberal mindset explained perfectly. Everyone is "stupid", better leave everything up to the smart liberals in politics. HOW ARROGANT! Wish the MSM would attempt to explain this comment away!

Oct 28, 2008

yeah, and the govt never makes "stupid economics decisions"

Oct 28, 2008

Obama is so scary!!! People wake up!!!

Oct 28, 2008

Hussein obama Will destroy my USA if he is elected. he must be stopped! Israel is also finished!

Oct 28, 2008

Y'all are too dumb to make decisions for yourself, so we, your govt., we'll make them for you. Typical liberal response. If fannie and freddie are examples of govt. decision making, all I have to say is NO THANK YOU!

Oct 28, 2008

so, let people make ' stupid economics decisions.' this is their right to make so called stupid decisions! i sure don't want barney frank or barry obama making stupid decisions for me!

Oct 28, 2008

Watch...life will have a whole new meaning to the Dems...that is where they will find the "right" to health care...but not to life!

Oct 28, 2008

medicare enrolees cost 8,000$/year. 34million of them. 270 million more at 8000$/year is 2 trillion/year more. not possible! not possible.

Oct 28, 2008

Shocking, the wife of a former Democratic Presidential candidate is not in favor of McCain's health care plan. How is this news?

Oct 28, 2008

Wow - that last comment is an outrageous insult to every American. Look at the past record of both democrats and republicans and tell me one "good" decision they have made for the people of this country.

Oct 28, 2008

People! It's not too late, email everyone you know who is still on the fence. We HAVE to vote McCain/Palin next week, or the socialist camel will have gotten his nose under the American tent. Do NOT let the Brownshirts steal this election! McCain is not George Bush, don't let the left define him as such. Obama is flat out dangerous and he all but promises to give away the store to any and all with their hands out in the next 4 or 8 years. We have never voted in an outright socialist before, please don't start now...

Oct 28, 2008

Healthcare is NOT a right. No one is obligated to care for you from cradle to grave.

Oct 28, 2008

When I make a stupid decision, only I (and possibly my family) are affected. When Barney Frank and Chris Dodd make stupid decisions, EVERYBODY is affected. I'd rather be responsible for my own mistakes, thank you.

Oct 29, 2008

Go bake some cookies

Oct 29, 2008

"who can frequently “make stupid economics decisions.”" This is exactly how Dems view us and the Dems poltiticain are alwasys smarter than us the people.

Oct 29, 2008

I agree with you cdedwards@faith.com & ken@daypak.com very well spoken.

Oct 29, 2008

So, individual Americans can frequently "make stupid economic decisions"? That infers that the American Government doesn't "frequently make stupid economic decisions" like the S&L crisis, the dot com bubble, and the small mortgage problem we currently find ourselves in, just to name a few! Yeah Liz, I'd much rather have the People's Republic of America making my economic decisions for me.

Oct 29, 2008

This is really good, its so easy for Mrs. Edwards to want the government involved in health care while she can go see her private doctors and make smart economic decisions, yeah right.

Oct 29, 2008

I LMMFAO reading all the comments. Sure hope all of you, your families, friends, co-workers that think like you get out and vote. Our true American VALUES is what this OJ election is all about.

I'm an American temporarily living in the UK and can tell you first hand what a disaster Obama's healthcare plan would be. It is socialism - here in the UK, the govt decides everything for you: when, where and what doctor you can see; what procedures you can have done; there are huge waiting lists for even simple procedures. I was told in July that I would have to wait until December to get a consultation appt just to go over some test results. I can't wait to move back to the US....I'm terrified of getting ill over here. I can't understand why McCain hasn't talked more about this. He needs to personalize things so Americans can understand. Get an American that has experienced the nightmare healthcare in the UK or Canada to talk about it. Americans have no idea that they will lose control over their healthcare. They just believe all the lies coming out of Obama's mouth because they're mad at Bush. God Help Us!

Ms. Ewards thinks that individual Americans frequently "make stupid economics decisions." Oh, and Big Govt. types like Jimmah Carter, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Greg Meeks, and Maxine Waters who are on video arguing AGAINST more oversight over Fannie and Freddie (major contributors to our current financial debacle) don't make REALLY stupid economics decisions? Hawaii tried universal health care (just for the kids) and it went bust after only 7 months!! http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/17/health/main4527996.shtml?source=RSSattr=Health_4527996

Oh please, we should all just get a scan bar under our skin, all make the same amount of money, live in cookie cutter houses that the government owns and never have to make any decisions for ourselves because we are just too stupid. We should just walk through life and let the government rule. Then of course the liberals would all blame George Bush.

Do people really want change so bad that they don't even see what's going on? I just don't understand how those who follow so blindly without knowing the issues at all. What is this would coming to? Socialism............with Obama it's certain.

You know it is typical BS. We are too stupid to make our own financial decisions but the government, who has run up an outrageous debt, is more qualified? Besides, I don't want anyone telling me that I have to have any medical procedure done or take any drug when my beliefs are to the contrary. Drugs don't cure anything. I wasn't created with extra parts that need to be removed. I need to take care of my body and avoid crisis through personal responsibility, diet, exercise and healthy living. DUH! Leave my health out of your politics please. Its none of anyone's business but my own! Only the whiners and those who believe they are entitled want this free healthcare nonsense. Responsible intelligent Americans want the freedom of choice, and to be left alone to live without outside interference. Get out of my life government, this is why there was a revolution 200+ years ago!
