For Schieffer, a dream come true

Even for big time, hot shot TV journalists, there are still some dreams that can seem just out of reach. For CBS' Bob Schieffer -- newsman by day, and amateur musician by night -- that dream was to play at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry with his band, Honky Tonk Confidential. He told Yeas & Nays in April 2007 that he's always longed to croon at the legendary venue.

Well, some dreams to come true: Schieffer and Honky Tonk Confidential finally debuted at the Opry last night for a show in honor of Tuesday's presidential debate in Nashville (Schieffer will moderate the final debate on October 15).

Schieffer was in good company, too: Also performing were country stars Brad Paisley, Julie Roberts, Josh Turner and Trisha Yearwood, as well as Hootie and the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker.
