ACORN's 'Power Plan" found in documents group left behind in Oklahoma City

A five-year ACORN  plan to "make Oklahoma a progressive state in the way it was 100 years ago" was found amid thousands of documents left behind last year in an abandoned office formerly used by the Oklahoma City branch of the controversial leftist community organizing outfit.

The tax-exempt non-profit is required by federal law to avoid partisan politics but the heart of the "Power Plan" makes clear the organization's goal of transforming the Sooner State from one of the nation's most consistently red states to the blue side of the spectrum, like California and New York:

"Therefore, the route to power is twofold: First, build powerful city organizations in Oklahoma City and Tulsa that can control these municipalities. Second, become an influential organization by shaping a handful of strategic legislative districts that, by themselves, can change who controls the state legislature.

"(W)e will be seen as the force that is making Oklahoma a progressive state in the way that it was 100 years ago.

"By using this power to win significant changes for working people, by the end of our 5 years, we will have legitimized the progressive takeover of the statehouse and head into 2012 with a real possibility of changing what Oklahomans look for and expect out of their Congressional delegation."

Also found among the documents, according to OklahomaWatchdog.org, was a suggested script for approaching volunteers in Houston to help ACORN recruit voters to support President Obama during the 2008 presidential election:

"Those internal documents include a sheet titled 'Canvass recruitment' a script directed towards ACORN activists in Houston which says: 'Hi, my name is ____. We are hiring Outreach Workers to remind people to get out and vote for Barack Obama in the upcoming election. One of our team members spoke to you today and you signed up for our intake tomorrow. You are interested in working with us on this important election, correct?

"It continues: 'We're hiring for people to go door to door talking to registered voters in Houston to get out the vote for Barack.'"

The documents were left behind in an office in Oklahoma City's "Little Mexico" neighborhood, according to the Red Dirt Report's Andrew Griffin, who originally broke the story. Adam Carter, the ACORN organizer running the office, apparently left town without paying rent owed for the office space.

RICO - start the investigation, and include Obama and the Dem National Committee

Why have the feds not filed the racketeering charges yet? And why hasn't the IRS confiscated everything they own for violating their tax status?

As a resident of Oklahoma City all I can say is, not bloody likely.

BTW, Oklahoma was a Progressive stronghold in the early years. My great-grandfather was one of the first Democrats elected here.

"apparently left town without paying rent owed for the office space."

Yes, apparently the bill should have been sent to "the workers" and "the people", failing that, "the oppressed".

The early day Democrats were as different as day from night to the present day "progressives". Bill Murray would call out the National Guard on the present day bunch.

The current House bill defunding ACORN also defunds and voids the contract of any contractor accused of defrauding the federal government. So how about "defunding" Haliburton, KBR (which has actually caused the electrocution of our soldiers in Iraq; unlike ACORN, which hasn't killed anyone), and Blackhawk (another outfit accused of killing, actually murdering, innocent civilians)?

Where is our sense of outrage? How many reports do we need to hear? This organization is not just obviously partisan (what a joke that is)- it is corrupt, immoral, irresponsible, and unaccountable. Wake up Congress.

We need to defund Acorn and like previous posts have stated, they aren't the only ones. If we have a law...enforce it. By the way, it may be good to defund congress at this point. They really need to be held to account.

Wake up America!! ACORN is under investigation in 14 states for election fraud. Congress is held by the Democrats. They will still sneak ACORN funding because they know they are in deep trouble in 2010. They will need every vote they can get, even if it means voting early and often.

See, Barack didn't go back on his word to use public funds for his presidential elction. He just funneled them through ACORN.

These people are so corrupt!! And DNC has been a part of this corruption. They only get out the vote for one party and we have all known this for a long time. Of course the DNC had no intention of investigating them because they were helping them!! Our tax-payer money going to this organization is a crime!! Talk about corruption!!

Imagine the outrage if this were a rightwing group rather than leftwing. Newspapers would create whole new sections to report on it.

I'm sure that most folks in Oaklahoma City had no inkling that these dangerous slime bags were targeting them. Wake up voters!

RICO sounds good, but go after them for falsely claiming tax exempt status. Demand payment of back taxes and penalties with the 3x RICO multiplier and try to connect their donors list as co-conspirators. HIT THEM WHERE IT HURTS.
