AP buries the lede: Obama will push additional tax hikes next year

Buried in this Friday story on Obama's future plans is a curious statement, attributed to White House Budget Director Peter Orszag, which didn't get nearly enough attention:

Orszag has said the spending blueprint, for the budget year that begins Oct. 1, 2010, would put the nation "back on a fiscally sustainable path" and suggested it would include a mix of spending cuts and new revenue-producing measures.

"New revenue-producing measures." In other words, more tax increases -- increases beyond the dozen or so that are already planned in the health care reform package.

President Obama's advisors understand that they have to counter the perception that deficit spending is out of control. But that doesn't mean Americans want to pay higher taxes.  President Obama might think he earns points by advocating fiscal prudence in next year's budget debate, but we all know what happened in the last midterm election after a president pushed a tax-hiking budget through Congress.

This is the Change you've been expecting... breaking with Tax and Spend traditions, O-man lunged into Spend, and can argue that now, the Tax part is somehow a necessary thing, and at the heart of it this will probably be blamed on Bush (unless he can tie circumstances to policies enacted by Gerald Ford and spread a little blame his way too).
With any more "spend like a drunken sailor" $pendulus Plans, the deficit will grow so large that taxes will become the only way out the "fine mess you've gotten us into, Fox News", but either way, we'll suffer from an epic hangover for generations. Enjoy!

This from the man who promised in his campaign speeches to eliminate earmarks and give the American public 5 days to read any bill pending passage. I'll believe it when I can plan my next ski trip in hell.

Well,is this a surprise? You elect a man based on a vapourware campaign, he gives you vapourware promises, and he then creates policies to collect vapour taxes from vapourised job holders. This gives a whole new meaning to the exuberance of "having a gas".

I suspect/hope people have some real resentment in the lack of substance from this administration; even given their tendency to relish the allusive vapours while subsequently choking on the smog of reality. It would be nice to envision the population finally coming to an understanding of political flatulence, no?

It's going to get a whole lot worse, before it gets better, folks. If we can make it through one more year of this person who occupies our house (for now), we can vote his partners in crime (house and senate majority) out of office. Then when it comes his turn, we must stay strong. If we do, we can out vote the stupid naive college students, all those who vote for color rather than substance, illegals, yellow dogs and we can overcome ACORN's fraud! Until then, fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Obama's self-fulfilling logic -- I spend money like a drunken sailor, therefore I tax.

It is imperative that the sane portion of the populace send a message through the 2010 Congressional elections that serves as a check on Obama's socialist and otherwise insane ambitions.

They will, of course, try to find a way to do it so that Democrats don't pay any taxes at all.

The odd thing is that many people who voted for Obama are split,50% think he's doing agreat job, the other 50% believe he hasn't gone far enough yet.Amazing!
