About Politico's sensationalistic Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck story...

This past weekend, SNL goofed on the 2012 disaster film by mocking up a fake movie trailer to make the film's title be about Sarah Palin running for president with Glenn Beck as vice-president. I can't find a clip online, but it was amusing. Anyway, today Politico writes:
“I saw that, I saw that; he probably got a kick out of that,” Palin said. “It was just a hoot, too, to hear such a thing.”
“I don’t know,” she said. “We’ll see, we’ll see.”
The headline on the piece? "Sarah Palin: 'We'll see' about run with Glenn Beck" Really, Politico? It sure makes it sound as if Palin is serious about a considering a run with Beck. If you watch the relevant portion of the Fox and Friends interview it says nothing about where the Beck suggestion came from. Perhaps Palin was referring to the SNL sketch, not something reported by Newsmax -- which is why she describes the possibility as "a hoot" and suggests Beck "got a kick out of that." There's nothing about her demeanor or response to the question that suggests it's a real possibility. And later in Politico's brief story they write:
“Glenn Beck, I have great respect for,” she said. “He gets his message across in such a clever way.”
“He calls it like he sees it, and he's very, very, very effective,” Palin added.
If Palin "did not specifically tell Newsmax that she was considering a run with Beck" the only way Politico justifies writing "conservative outlet Newsmax reported [it] might be a possibility in 2012" is if you read a lot into Newsmax's own sensationalistic headline, "Palin-Beck Ticket? Sarah Doesn't Rule it Out". Further, if you read the Newsmax piece, when they brought up the possibility of a Palin/Beck ticket it was noted, "Palin initially chuckled when Newsmax broached the idea."
The bottom line here is that I see no evidence that Sarah Palin takes suggestion of running for President with Glenn Beck seriously. But you wouldn't know that from Politico's breathless coverage.
