Chinese firms cash in on green energy subsidies

Thanks to a steady stream of federal subsidies, ClimateWire reports, a group of Chinese firms are planning to build a 600-megawatt wind farm in west Texas, which will be one of the largest in the United States. Wind and solar power cost more to produce than energy generated by oil and gas, so subsidies from American taxpayers are the only way to generate a profit – for the Chinese.
And don’t expect the new wind farm to generate a lot of those green jobs President Obama keeps talking about. Like a lot of other things that used to be manufactured in the U.S. but no longer are, the giant wind turbines will be Made in China.
