Dodd shows signs of life in Connecticut

A new poll shows that Sen. Chris Dodd is showing signs of life in his 2010 bid to win a blank term, but his Republican challenger is still  ahead.
The Quinnipiac University poll, conducted on 1,575 registered voters found that Dodd trails former GOP Rep. Rob Simmons 45-39 percent. That's somewhat of an improvement for Dodd, who in April lagged behind Simmons 50 - 34 percent. Simmons leads Dodd among critical Independent voters by 53 - 30 percent.
Dodd, who is chairman of the powerful Senate Banking Committee, had been sinking in the polls for months after it was disclosed he received a favorable interest rate from a Countrywide Mortgage, a company that helped bring about the sub-prime mortgage implosion. His popularity dropped even further when he approved of legislative language allowing the American International Group - a major recipient of government bailout funds - to hand out $165 million in bonus money to its executives.
The poll found that among those who disapprove of Dodd, 24 percent cite overall dishonesty or lack of integrity, 17 percent say he has failed to deal with banking industry problems and 11 percent say Dodd fell out of favor after the Countrywide mortgage deal.
"Sen. Christopher Dodd's numbers are getting better but they are still lousy," Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz said. "He still has high negatives. About half of the voters don't trust Dodd and disapprove of the job he is doing. And he is still behind Simmons in a general election matchup."

He really deserves to lose. Dodd is corrupt.

If ever there was poster boy for what is so completely wrong and corrupt with Washington politicians, it is Sen. Dodd. If CT voters have such a short memory that they give this pay for play crook another term, then that state surely deserves any misfortunes that befall it, and to be known as a Connecticut Yankee should become a synonym for blind stupidity with respect to holding worthless politicians accountable for their malfeasance.

The GOP campaign will bash Dodd mercilessly on corruption. He won't get 45% of the vote. The democrat corruption message will also have national implications.

Corrupt Chris Dodd, the Senator from the 10-acre, 10-room waterview "Cottage" in Ireland. That he got through some kind of dope deal with his buddy the career fraud artist and convicted felon (for whom he arranged a pardon). Corrupt Chris, the man from subprime. Corrupt Chris, born to graft, whose father was a crook before him (one of a mere handful of Senators censured for corrupt dealing). Corrupt Chris, whose credit-card bill bails out the deadbeats at the expense of the chumps who pay their bills, but has been reported by his media enablers as pro-consumer. Here's hoping that the reign of Corrupt Chris is the high-water mark of crony capitalism, and not merely a milestone on its march.

Integrity is rather important. I'm surprized his CT Democrats haven't jettisoned him, given these numbers. Let's all spend money on losing. That's a good idea.

What's even more amazing about the Connecticut lefties is that there are 30% of them willing to be caught dead supporting this crook......oh wait, he's a Democrat. Of course he's acceptable for re-election. Foolish me! Had he been a Republican, he would have been forced out of office by an angry press and citizenry years ago like the former Repub. Governor. Different laws and different degrees of outrage for different political parties.
