EPA Suppresses Internal Global Warming Study, CEI Says

By: Kevin Mooney

Scientific findings at odds with the Obama Administration’s views on carbon dioxide and climate change are being suppressed as a result of political pressure, officials at the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) charge.

“This suppression of valid science for political reasons is beyond belief,” said CEI General Counsel Sam Kazman. “EPA’s conduct is even more outlandish because it flies in the face of the president’s widely-touted claim that ‘the days of science taking a back seat to ideology are over.’”
The agency has never made the study public or included it in official reference materials, according to CEI. As part of a recently concluded EPA public comment period on a proposed rule, CEI submitted a set four EPA emails, dated March 12-17, 2009, as evidence that the suppressed study included a critique of the agency’s global warming position.
CEI has asked EPA to make the study public and to allow public comments on it. CEI has also asked that EPA to prevent any reprisals against the study’s author who has been employed with the agency for 35 years.

This whole stinks to high heaven. The money trail leads to Gore,Obama, Pelosi and their cronies. This will cost us trillions of dollars and enrich prominent democrats. There will be hell to pay when the truth comes out.

This story needs to be on the front page in big headlines! This whole adm. is a bunch of lying thugs that are bullying those that disagree with them! So much for "open to other ideas".

CEI is a conservative group. The study was probably done under the Bush Admin. where EPA studies that were pro-Global Warming were suppressed. Who knows if anything out of the EPA is valid science.

the COMMUNISTS have finally taken over the USA. The COMMIE democratic party has done what the USSR was not able to do - without a shot ever being fired! 11-04-2008 will go down as the DARKEST date in USA history - for that is the date we voted our own DESTRUCTION!

"Who knows if anything out of the EPA is valid science.?" Answer: Everyone, if EPA makes the study available for public scrutiny. No one, if the study is suppressed.

Does anyone have a link for those "four EPA emails" or any other government documents from or related to the study?

Tim-They are called watermelons. Green on the outside, red on the inside. I watched it happen almost overnight in the late 80's when the wall came down. All the leftists on campus suddenly morphed to environmentalists. The objectives are the same: control the productive people.

And these suppressed findings are what, exactly? Anyone can make up a story that certain things are being suppressed. Such a claim is impossible to prove false.

CO2 is less than .038 of 1% of our atmosphere, following 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, .97% Argon. Global Warming is a fraud created in the UN. The UNICC report eleminated all questionable comments by scientist before releasing the report findings to the world. Remember, China, India and developing countries are exempt AND nuclear power which is non CO2 producing does NOT count in credits for reduction of CO2. Why? It's a "World Socialist" fraud.

I used to work at the EPA. It is highly politicized and the work/missions reflect the current administration's goals. The EPA should be free of the politics, and focus on their mission, but that's not how it works. Add to the fact that the staff is chock full of do nothing, inefficient, lazy, time wasters who couldn't get a job in the real world if they tried, and there's no incentive to try anything different.

Why has no one filed a FOI suit? Isn't that what it's for? Why are none of the congress critters demanding the release? Have any congressional committees seen it? WTF!!! Why do we have a congress if they are nothing more than compliant sheep blindly following "the one" to the slaughterhouse of America?

DWPittelli wrote: "The objectives are the same: control the productive people." In the case of the environmentalists, change "control" to "destroy." The better to achieve equality. NOTE: Water vapor (@4% of atmosphere) is the leading greenhouse gas. NOTE 2: It's the IPCC, which has been declared a political tract by most if not all of the world's leading scientists--even the ones who think the planet is warming.

FACT: The polar ice sheets are increasing in size. Look at the recent data. If global warming is really occurring, and if man is responsible why won't the media and politicos allow open discussion and debate? The fact that they won't is all the evidence you need to realize that man made global warming is an opinion being pushed down our throats and not a fact.

Fred is wrong, CEI is an independent group that does not take tax dollars. Is that why you chink they are a conservative group, Fred? Because they don't live off the tit of the Feds? I herd and read the email thread. They admitted is does not support the "agenda".

the epa has used flawed sceince since it's inseption. it's cost this country manufacturing, industrial,& chemical jobs forthe last 35 yrs. businesses leave this country to where thier are less restictions. as an unelected enity they should pass their findings to the legislature and let them debate & decide. it's about time our elected officials do their jobs, instaed of passing it to non-elected lawmaking groups.

The fact that the clowns in Congress are about to pass the most devastating tax in history (cap and trade) while the EPA suppresses relevent information is beyond belief. None of those miserable miscreants is looking out for the Reppublic, or the American People. Instead of statesmen we have political hacks (in both parties). We got the government we deserve because WE voted them in. Now, let's see how fast we can dump the lot.

We've been thru the S&L adventure, the dot-com run up, Y2K, subprime/Alt-A/Option-A loan mess and now the "carbon tax" (AKA Global Warming/AGW/cap-n-trade). Each and every one of these government FUBARs was intended to extract money from the masses and give it to the friends of the politicians. Always remember that the last "global consensus" was that Iraq had "stockpiles of WMD" and it was "all wrong". Now we have a new "global consensus" which also appears, in so many ways that it's hard to count, to be "all wrong"

"The EPA should be free of the politics, and focus on their mission..." No. The EPA and a whole raft of other non-essential Agencies that are not permitted by the Constitution need to be shut down. In fact, *most* of the Federal Govt. as it exists today is outside its Constitutional defined boundaries.

Here's the link to cei.org and, the emails discussed are reproduced at the bottom of their request to have the study placed in the public record. so far, EPA has apparently not replied to the request submitted on Tuesday. as we know, the House voted in favor of the Cap and Tax bill Friday night. I haven't seen the debate in the Congressional Record [yet] and do not know if any House members brought up the EPA study or CEI's request to have it placed in the public record. *** Hugo Chavez runs Venezuela in pretty much the same way, doesn't he? Data opposing his views is suppressed and the authors fired or attacked. Time to write to your US Senator, everyone.

First off, stop blaming Bush for the suppressed study. It doesn't matter who is in office- all scientific studies deserve an equal evaluation in Congress. If they are going to increase taxes drastically- the American people needs to know the exact measures Congress is voting on.

The uncontrollable fluctuation in foreign oil production and global events has a negative impact on our economy and our overall well being. Environmental benefits may be recognized with energy independence; however, the environment should not be our driving force until we fully understand our overall impact on the environment. Immediate environmental considerations also risk giving our competitors an unfair advantage in a global economy. http://www.americanplea.org
