Gibbs says Obama "gratified" by Senate vote

11/21/09 9:08 PM EST

Saturday night, live                                                       (ap)

Health care reform passed its first major test in the Senate tonight, and heads to the Senate floor for debate Nov. 30. President Obama earlier set an end-of-the-year deadline so sign the bill, which -- if you're the betting type -- it seems they'll probably miss. Senate debate is expected to last three weeks.

From the White House, a somewhat subdued statement from press secretary Robert Gibbs:

“The president is gratified that the Senate has acted to begin consideration of health insurance reform legislation. Tonight’s  historic vote brings us one step closer to ending insurance company abuses, reining in spiraling health care costs, providing stability and security to those with health insurance, and extending quality health coverage to those who lack it. The president looks forward to a thorough and productive debate."

What if after a thorough and productive debate, the senate rejects this, "so called", health care bill...

Will the president find "self gratification" as stimulating as he would have found with it's passage???

After all the democrates in congress are only there to rubber stamp the president wishes......

HAS ANYONE IN DC. EVER HEARD OF "SEPARATION OF POWERS" ???????????

Saturday night's Senate Vote Just to have a debate on Healthcare, was a small victory for the "agents of change" democrats). It is noteworthy, that the Party of No & Fear, also fought against Social Security Reform and Medicare, and true to form or color, they are fighting against healthcare reform today!

Thank Gof for the Agents of Change....

The administration's deadline obsession and macho shot calling continues to come back to bite it. Had Obama simply said he would pass health care ASAP he wouldn't have blown multiple deadlines and always be in the position of saving face.

Thank you so much, NOT, for being a pusher of the most immense tax increase big brother ever tried to foist on Americans. At some $300 millions per vote (check Louisiana's Senator) this is the most expensive steamroller ever bought. Socialist and Marxist Senators Feinstein, Boxer, Reid, and the rest are cooperating with "Our Glorious Leader" in destroying America - "Our Glorious Leader" praised the bowl movement in the Senate from Korea, home of another equally demented "Glorious Leader". The illegal aliens are rejoicing at this step toward yet another "amnesty".

Dodd, Reid, Pelosi, Snowe, Graham et al.

This is 'la creme de la creme' in terms of representation?

We've scraped bottom for so long, these spineless, bottom-feeding turds represent our wishes?

Vote these sycophant serving parasites out of the beltway..

Anytime Obama is "happy" about something the American People lose big. Obama is the worst President in American history by many orders of magnitude and a pathetic excuse of human being to boot.

How's that hope and change working for you moronic Socialists who voted for him.
