Hillary's sore subject

When former president Bill Clinton returned from North Korea with the two released journalists, he played it unusually low-key. But that hasn't had any impact on his wife. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton must feel a little jilted given her remarks at a talk in Kinshasha.

When asked by a university student what her husband thought of China and its involvement with the Democratic Republic of Congo, she replied: "You want to know what my husband thinks?" and then: "My husband is not the secretary of state, I am. You ask my opinion, I will tell you my opinion. I'm not going to channel my husband."

This isn't the first time Clinton's short fuse has come up as an obstacle in her diplomatic work. She recently referred to North Korean leadership as "small children and unruly teenagers and people who are demanding attention."

It is apparent that Hillary is still feeling the pain of the Monica Lewinsky affair. It is quite understandable that she does not want to play second fiddle to ex-president Bill Clinton. However, as the Secretary of State, she may need to be more diplomatic.
