Huh???!!!!! Even pro-Obama press is stunned by Nobel decision

From the Washington Post this morning:

Obama is the third sitting U.S. president--and the first in 90 years--to win the prestigious peace prize. His predecessors won during their second White House terms, however, and after significant achievements in their diplomacy. Woodrow Wilson was awarded the price in 1919, after helping to found the League of Nations and shaping the Treatise of Versailles; and Theodore Roosevelt was the recipient in 1906 for his work to negotiate an end to the Russo-Japanese war.

In contrast, Obama is struggling over whether to expand the war in Afghanistan, preparing to withdraw from Iraq, and searching for ways to build momentum to restart Israeli-Palestinian peace talks and assemble an international effort to stop Iran's nuclear program.

From the New York Times:

With American forces deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, President Obama’s name had not figured in speculation about the winner until minutes before the prize was announced here.

Reporters at a news conference to announce the prize pressed the committee’s chairman, Thorbjorn Jagland, to explain the reasons Mr. Obama had prevailed over other candidates who included human rights activists in China and Afghanistan and political figures in Africa.

Specifically, reporters asked whether Mr. Obama might not become mired in a war in Afghanistan as Lyndon B. Johnson was in Vietnam.

But the committee said it wanted to enhance Mr. Obama’s diplomatic efforts so far rather than anticipate events in the future.

 From the Associated Press:

Nobel observers were shocked by the unexpected choice so early in the Obama presidency, which began less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline.

Obama wins WW II and world chess championship. Mmm Mmm Mmm. Maybe Obama will win the World Series and Superbowl this year, too! Think how furious the Clintons must be right about now

Obama was awarded the Nobel Prize for the exactly same reasons he was elected President... EMPTY PROMISES. The world has truly done insane.

I thought the Committee had reached new lows giving Gore the prize for his climate fearmongering. Well at least they assmitted that it is all politics now. Everybody knew before, but it was always denied by the committee. Being a Laureate means ZILCH now (and often negative) so I pity the chemists, and physicists, and medicine folks for wqhom the prize was originally intended. WTF do the committee members think they are meddling in our political system? Time for either a big suit or something.

Headline should read: Humble Kenyan, first messiah to win peace prize.

The King of the World, fluffed his angel minions, adjusted his tarnished halo, and in great humble sincerity announced, "I won, and I owe it all to three people: me, myself, and I."

As I predicted a while back, the best part about a black messiah being elected to president, is that it will expose the sanctimonious left and all its follies for what they really are.

We, as a people, will respond to this piece of orchestrated pomposity and self-adoration by either vomiting or genuflecting. Step right up and place your bets, gentlement.

Has there ever been anyone in the history of mankind who has been handed so much with no evidence that he has ever put in a genuine day’s work in his entire life, or achieved anything beyond being born only half white and not being named George Bush? The world has gone complete mad. What is next, blind airline pilots?

This is perfect. If you ever needed an EXPLOSIVE EXAMPLE of this IDIOT, being nothing more than a CREATION OF THE MEDIA, this is it.
Ya know who he is? He's THE MUSIC MAN. He's Peter Sellers in 'BEING THERE'. He's the guy on the SIMPSONS who sells the town a MONO-RAIL.
He's not real. He's the Perfect Liberal Icon. Like LIBERALISM, he has no SUBSTANCE. That is WHY he got this award. The LEFT of this world, see him as a SYMBOL. To them, he IS the ONE they've been waiting for. And, as such, he must have STATURE. They saw him WEAKENED by World Events. They saw him FALTER and be INDECISIVE. The EMPEROR was in need of CLOTHES, in a HURRY. So they've thrown him a ROBE.
This is the BEGINNING OF THE END for this guy. Believe me. This is shining the light on his NOTHINGNESS, more than anything the right could have EVER come up with.
This JOKE in the White House, is OFFICIAL now. The EMPTY SUIT, now has his EMPTY PRIZE.

Well, he certainly is in distinguished company: Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, Yasar Arafat. When Iran makes good on it's threat to wipe out the State of Israel, will he have to give it back? When the Taliban / Al-Qaeda AGAIN attacks the US, will he have to give it back? Or will he use his ideas of questioning terror subjects: engage them in conversation about sports and women and maybe they'll slip and say something useful. . . . . .
The Nobel Committee has surely reached a new low.

Will they take away Woodrow Wilson's because he was a segregationist ? Why shouldn't they since they gave Obama his for essentially doing nothing ?

After laughing hysterically thinking people were joking, I actually got sick a little. Then I remembered, the Nobel folks are NOT about peace. They're about appeasement. And in this case, they're right. He's the chief appeaser in the world.

The giving of Mr. Obama the Nobel prise is a travesty of justice. This confirms what we all knew-the Nobel Prise is political, nonsensical, and controlled by those with vested interests, bent on destroying justice and equity in our world.

Maybe they thought giving him this award would sway him to take the troops out of Afghanistan?
Regardless, considering that Alfred Nobel invented dynamite and considering who's received the award before BHO, it's totally appropriate.
I quit taking this prize seriously after they gave it to Arafat the terrorist.

Un-freaking-believable. this "prize" has just turned into a joke. the whole world is now a joke. winning a nobel peace prize has no more value now than winning a publisher's clearing house prize.

Oct 9, 2009

When I was young in the 70's, I always thought of a Nobel prize as one of the greatest honors one could ever receive. But looking at it now, after what has happened over the past few years (Gore getting one for science, for example), now - the biggest farce of all, giving a peace award to Obama? The Nobel Prize Committee is now the biggest joke since Chris Matthews "thrill up his leg" line!

KsChemGuy

The prize already was a JOKE. If Al Gore and the IPCC can win by using fraudulent science data and out right lies...why are we surprise the the king of lies would not win one too.

Is goes to show you how politicized the Nobel Prize has become. As a scientist, I was appalled that Al Gore won; therefore, I had no respect for the it's existence.

To me, it was now become a trophy for progressive thinkers....not individuals making positive contributions to mankind. ONE BIG JOKE!

Mr. Obama should come out and say that he has thought it through some more. He has thought it through and decided that he will respectfully decline the prize. He should suggest that they pick someone else.
This would be the respectful thing to do.

Why are people blaming him for the stupidity of him getting the prize? It wasn't his idea and he has no vote on the commitee that selected him.

Is anyone serious about anything anymore? This joke of a Nobel Prize Committee is the BIGGEST JOKE YET!!! WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE FOOLING?? NOT EVEN "BO" BELIEVES IT!! What MORE can anyone say?? Just keep laughing; they're a bunch of FOOLS!

Because I want to win the prize next year, let me say right now that I want world peace.

"dude in the H" is right, though - Obama shouldn't be blamed for this.
