Iran smolders, Afghanistan burns, and Obama heads to...Denmark

By: Byron York

With growing pressure for decisions on life-or-death issues in Afghanistan and Iran, this morning the White House announced that President Obama will soon travel to…Copenhagen. Obama will be in Denmark for just a few hours -- he leaves this Thursday and returns Friday -- which is just enough time to make a pitch for Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympic Games. He'll be following First Lady Michelle Obama, who is also going to Copenhagen as part of the promote-Chicago team. Here is the White House press release:

Today, the White House announced that President Barack Obama will travel to Copenhagen, Denmark to support Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games at the 121st International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session. On Friday, October 2nd, IOC members will elect the host city for the 2016 Summer Games.

President Obama will join First Lady Michelle Obama, who will be leading the United States delegation to Copenhagen. Mrs. Obama will arrive in Copenhagen on Wednesday, September 30, along with Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to President Obama and head of the White House Office on Olympic, Paralympic and Youth Sport.

President Obama will depart Washington on the evening of Thursday, October 1 and arrive in Copenhagen on the morning of October 2 local time, just prior to Chicago’s presentation to the voting members of the IOC. He will arrive back in Washington on Friday afternoon.

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will both make presentations to the IOC during Friday’s session. They will discuss why Chicago is best to host the 2016 Summer Games, and how the United States is eager to bring the world together to celebrate the ideals of the Olympic movement.

While in Denmark, the President and First Lady will meet with Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness, the Prince Consort. President Obama will also meet with Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen.

And it's not just the president and the first lady. Indeed, a significant part of the Obama administration -- the group includes top White House adviser Valerie Jarrett, Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood -- is also heading to Copenhagen to make the pitch for Chicago.

Wow. Good to know the left's Golden God is on top of things. Whew. I feel safer already. Don't forget, guys. This guy has LOADS of folks back in Chi Town to pay back for this election. And since the fundage pipeline to ACORN is rapidly being plugged, he's got to find other ways to take care of the situation. Folks who don't pay for services rendered in Chicagoland can wind up in really bad situations, don't ya know...

I wish this president would make a "pitch" for the United States.

But we must remember that he owes a lot to the Chicago Thugs, and that is who will make million from this Olympic circus.
And the taxpayers will pick up the tab for years and years and years.
Corruption is so deep it's amazing that we even exist at all.

Obama's failed Presidency is a perfect opportunity to discredit three interlocking groups for the next 30 years.

1. The leftist wing of the Democrat party.

3. Blacks, for their blind 96% support of Democrats no matter what. A group that votes for one side in a manner comparable to Saddam Hussein's mock elections deserves a leader along those lines.

But I doubt the GOP strategists are smart enough to tie Obama's failure to these 3 groups, to discredit them for a generation.

Think about it. This is a loose – loose situation for Mr. Obama and the USA. Is this the first time a head of state has come to plead his case to the IOC for the Olympics? If not, I am sure it is the first time a sitting US President has done it. Typically the host city spends a ton of money without re-cooping its costs. If he gets the Olympics in Chicago, who will pay the bills? Everyone (US and world citizens) will wonder what deals he made behind closed doors. It will appear that the big bad USA came in and threw its weight around. The country’s that loose the Olympics will blame Obama, which will do no good for US relations. If Chicago does not get the Olympics, it will be a huge slap in the face of the President, Michelle Obama, and the United States. The world will be laughing at our ineptness. I have to wonder if the city were Phoenix instead of Chicago, would the president of the US go to sell his wares to the IOC. Nothing good will come of this.
