Nobody likes a quitter, Sarah Palin

Her move to leave office early may save Sarah Palin the hassle of having to grind out the acrimonious end of her term in Alaska, battling Democrats and batting down frivolous ethics complaints as conservatives battle each other over her role.

But how can leaving office early help her with her greatest deficiency as a presidential contender -- a lack of experience on big issues? Palin has the total package has a candidate, except the obvious lack of a long track record of success. She took on the Alaskan establishment, rose quickly and energized the Republican party in August of 2008 -- a rise as fast as Barack Obama's. But what people want to know is whether she can get results.

She was introduced to the nation as a whip-smart up and comer from the wilds of Wasilla, but still in a state of becoming. After being turned back by voters, Palin seemed to follow a wise path of going back to Alaska to brush up on governance and gain greater mastery of issues.

If she spends the next two years developing her presidential team, raising money and trying to become the face of the Republican party she will be a different kind of target for her detractors and the drama that follows her will play out on the national stage.

If she spends her time with her family, writing a book and studying, perhaps Palin can overcome an incomplete grade for her one term as governor.

But I suspect that after voters grow weary of candidates with more charisma than experience, other Republicans with a track records of success will come to the fore.

Ronald Reagan spent the years between 1976 and 1980 preparing for his rendezvous with destiny, but that came after eight years as the governor of California.

Unless Palin is actually stepping away from the notion of a presidential run and thinking more about a career as a comentator or media personality, this strikes me as a mistake.

"Palin has the total package has a candidate, except the obvious lack of a long track record of success." Sorry, Mr. Stirewalt, but right there you lost me. Your comment rings hollow, especially when her record is compared to the likes of Obama and Bush combined. No candidate, in my lifetime, not even GW Bush, has faced the same level of destructive assault and unmasked hatred and petty condescension from the media as Palin. Reagan never faced it in his eight years as governor. You can call this move "quits" if you wish, but you don't know auto racing. This is a Pit Stop.

Exactly what great experience would Sarah Palin get if she remained in Alaska? None that would matter to national politics. If she comes south and raises money for the GOP and helps elect GOP to congress and take control back, that will be the experience that will count.

Of all pretenders to the Presidency, we have beens saddled with the least experienced of all. During the campaign critics ignored the total lack of experience of Obama while slamming Palin, the only candidate in the mix with any executive experience. Now we have Obama and Biden the two most incompetent executives in the history of our nation. Remember, that in addition to being traditional "Tax and Spend" liberals they are thugs in the mold of Harry Bridges.. Biden is now in Iraq discussing 'health care concerns' with the troops the lead says. Does this mean that under Obamacare the troops will loose the full medical care they have had for more than seventy years?

The move is not a "pit stop" for anyone except Sarah. She is, unthinkably, "quitting" her chief executive position in Alaska.

Obama had far less experience than Sarah and that did not seem to bother the press.

I don't understand how anyone could possibly be serious about voting this Psycho Daily Mae into the White House. What a loser. Better she disappear now and get it over with before more of her dirty laundry gets out and she needs another public apology from someone who made a mean statement, boo hoo. BYE SARAH, OKBYE NOW!

Interestingly, no one thought that Hillary Clinton campaigning on the Federal "dime" while still holding...but not working at...her US Senate seat from NY was a problem. In fact, she didn't give up the Senate salary until the day she got sworn in as Sec'y of State. Sarah, on the other hand, doesn't want to burden the State of Alaska (or its finances) collecting a salary while looking for another job. Typical Lib double standard. However, let's all keep in mind this one little tidbit....if Palin is such a weak candidate, why are the Democrats and Liberal Establishment spending huge amounts of time and money to try and make her look bad? Why don't they just ignore her? Fat chance.

I liked Reagan, but I do not think he had 8 years of the harassment tactics being levied against his family and his state of the kind being thrown against Alaska and Palin. Today's leftist fascist groups have learned the art of leveraging, and it is a wise move on Palin's part to help Alaska move on -- even if it isn't the best option for her personally. But I doubt she is going away, as much as I doubt that the leftist groups will stop their attacks, because each of these parties are who they are. The brown-shirts are out to kill her politically (and may have succeeded) and she is a person of conscious who would rather sacrifice herself than compromise her principles. (I just wish Obama had a little of that self-sacrificing spirit himself.)

This is about as stupid a column as could be written. It is "quitting" to leave once you've decided you are going to go in another direction. It isn't for Palin anymore than it was for Hillary Clinton ... anyone else who moved on.The only difference here is Palin is putting her actions where her mouth is. What a refreshing change! Bravo to a brave lady! Shame on you for your slanted take on it.

Correction: It isn't "quitting" ...

Sarah Palin is a quitter. Imagine if she quit the vice presidency or the presidency. Ooops, I've changed my mind and I want to do something else--so I'm quitting. What a flake!

Sarah Palin is no quitter...she has had tremendous success as Gov. these past 18 months. She is taking control of her future. After the dust settles and the rats go back into their holes, Palin will emerge on the National stage more powerful and effective than ever. She is greatly needed on the National stage now to speak out against the disaster that is ongoing in Washington. Alaska will miss her,but down here in unemployment heaven, her resignation is an exciting moment for those who are losing hope.

What a whiner! Quitter! She is quitting before her term ends... exactly why? She would server Alaska better? EVERY elected office holder that is in his/her lame duck period has the responsibility to work to their fullest capacity, until their final days of in office position. Imagine if every offical would quit once they pass their "hay day". She further cast a negative comments by saying "other" officals and how they make "economic visits" as if they *all* are doing wasteful and foolish things - but of course *she* would be doing those things. Arg! Princess Sarah is coming.

What is the difference of this, and Obama campaigning for President, when he should have been sitting in the Senate? At least Gov. Palin had other jobs, what has Obama run? GM?

Leaving now was a brilliant decision. She finally has no vindictive ethics charges over her head, she leaves before the Obama energy policy and other initiatives destroy the good work she has done in Alaska and she enables her Lt. Gov. to have the advantage of running as an incumbant in 2010.

the republican party will soon cease to exist. republican politicians like gov palin and gov sanford and sen ensign and ex-president bush have ruined the brand and destroyed all credibility. Maybe a replacement party will arise (no, not the Libertarians) but I doubt it. What we have is one-party system. I think the best move would be for all the republicans to re-register as democrats so that the illusion of a two-party system can be shattered.

Who can blame her? She's got a load of idiot Democrats filing frivolous ethics claims against her without a single one sticking.

Jul 4, 2009

Did you notice that the liberal media continued to go after Palin even after the election was over?- Why- because Obama and the Democratic Party are scared to death of this woman. She doesn't pull her punches like puss McCain did during the election. Remember that convention speech she gave- she openly mocked Obama. And she will be doing it full time now for the next 3 years. Obama and lame-o mormo cult Mitt Romney have a new problem on their hands.

Jul 4, 2009

The Democratic Party is scared to death of this woman. Why do you think the liberal media has been trying to tear her down 6 months after the election is over. She pulls no punches and will openly mock Obama for the next 3 years FULL TIME. Obama and Mitt Romney have a big problem. She's no wimp like McCain was!!!!!!!!

The DNC gave their "brownshirt" minions in Alaska marching orders: "Destroy her before the next election". They harrassed her with bogus ethics charges and were making her ineffective in doing her real job as governor. Now she can really get down to business, helping other Repubs gain seats in 2010 and and exposing these socialists corruptacrats who are destroying our country from within. Palin in 2012.

Palin is no more an idiot than Obama- at least, we know her academic past, not Obamas (how did he get into Columbia and why didn't he write something at the Harvard law review? What was his GPA?). I am amazed at the stupidity of the posts ranting on in mindless fashion about Palin and the Republican party. The Democrats are truly the self-destructing party, because once all the white men are appropriately unemployed and all the liberal white soccer moms are having to support their families because their white husbands can't get a job, also making them unable to afford soccer, and possibly a major world war to pull us out of another Great Depression- I think the word "Democrat" will be like a swear word to people of normal cognitive function. Those who bother to vote (minus ACORN and it's exponentially suspicious dead voter list) aren't going to vote for those who desire for the level of misery liberals think we are entitled to.

Palin is brilliant, she's found a way to move forward without giving her political enemies in AK more opportunities to cost the state more millions on b.s. ethics complaints.Recent polls show that 72% of republicans & 45% of Americans have a favorable opinion of her, she's smart to strike while the iron is hot. I think we'll be seeing a lot of Sarah Palin.

Jul 7, 2009

Palin is completely UNQUALIFIED for any political office, including the PRESIDENCY. It's obvious that she's resigning to avoid facing the ethics investigations against her. Don't be so easily fooled by her sweet (totally made up) anecdotal stories and her feigned accent to appeal to the average American. Remember, this lady was just a Governor of Alaska. She has no foreign policy experience, no economic revitalization experience, and no common sense or political competency. Ask yourself this, what MAKES HER QUALIFIED to be PRESIDENT of the U.S.? She simply cannot be placed in that position. IT will RUIN the image of our country!

Republicans need someone who can compete with Obama in 2012. Someone who has BUSINESS EXPERIENCE and can turn this economy right side up again. Obama is great for civil rights issues, but that's not the problem today. We need someone with ECONOMIC experience.
