Obama punts on immigration summit again

For the second time, the Obama administration has put off an immigration reform summit. The event was scheduled for June 17 at the White House, but has now been scratched from the schedule without another date set.
The meeting was to have included a bipartisan contingency from Congress as well as advocacy groups and other stakeholders. It was originally moved from June 8, due to a scheduling conflict, according to White House aides and was postponed again for the same reason, they said Friday.
Obama and Congress are struggling to pass major health care reform legislation and the debate has been so consuming that even energy reform, Obama's second priority, has faded into the background.
"Health care first, energy second," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said earlier this week.
Nonetheless, groups advocating immigration reform said on Friday they planned to keep pushing Obama and Congress on the matter by reminding them of their promise to begin working on the issue this year.
"While it is disappointing to hear this meeting has been delayed again, we know President Obama and our congressional leadership remain firmly committed to realizing just and humane immigration reform this year," said Deepak Bhargava, executive director of the Campaign for Community Change.
The House Congressional Hispanic Caucus has been working behind the scenes to get consensus in the House on some kind of immigration reform plan, but with lawmakers' attention focused on health care and energy legislation, it seems an unlikely feat this year, especially if Obama isn't putting it at the top of his list. Chairwoman Nydia Velazquez said she was "disappointed" that the meeting was cancelled, but said "we are confident the President will keep his word by enacting reform this year."

We already have immigration laws! Enforce them, like every other country does! With millions of citizens out of work, with prices and taxes going up, we do not need amnesty, new visa workers nor guest workers...all jobs should be available for citizens. Let foreign leaders reform their own country, to help their own people, it is not our responsibility!

Obama has this immigration legislation on hold because all hell is going to break loose because of his proposals on this issue. Republican Senate leader Boehner calls the draft by the Democrats a piece of s--t! Some of the proposals in store for us are: Legal status in 24 hours even without concluding background checks. Taxpayers to pay for illegals attorney fees. Amnesty for gang members. Permanent temporary visas. Pay to help Mexico keep Mexicans in Mexico. English not required for Citizenship. Pay no back taxes. Amnesty for those who have been deported. Tax credits for illegals. Fast rack for SPP which means open borders for Canada and Mexico. Give illegals first priority over others filing for citizenship. And my personal favorite; In state tuition for illegal students going to college. This once again amounts to the Democrats pandering and forever gaining the Hispanic vote. Amazing!!! This administration is unbelievable!!!

I think is time for our president to make good on his promise to have an immigration reform. We need this, the country need this. We can no longer separate families as we doing now. We need to end this and give amnesty to those who have worked hard for this country and paid taxes. Yes illegals do pay taxes.. those of you who think they don't our mere ignorants but they do! It don't matter if you are an illegal from Canada or Mexico you will get that amnesty. So President Obama do good on your promise and make this reform happen! remember it was the hispanic vote who got you where u are now.

If families are split up, the best solution solution is for them to go reunited in the countries they came from, not bring the rest of their family here. We don't have the jobs for them here, and we can't afford to pay Social Security and Medicare for them in a few years when they retire. Yes, illegals do pay taxes, but not generally income taxes - if you are in the lower 40% of pay in America you generally don't have to pay income taxes. If we worked in their country, we would have to pay taxes there without becoming a citizen, so just because they pay taxes doesn't mean that we should make them citizens. We have enough problems without making citizens of all of these illegal workers and their families. Who will pay for their health care and education?

The law of mercy truimphs over the law of condemnation and judgment. While we were yet sinners and had all broken the Holy and righteous law of the Eternal God, Christ died, in that He granted all mercy, and still pardons all transgressions. "Woman, where are those your accusers? Has no man condemned you?" "Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more.", said Jesus Christ of Nazareth Who alone fulfilled the law. AMEN, GOD BLESS THE USA
