Obama's Top 10 Apologies (So far)

Those devilish research elves behind The Morning Bell at The Heritage Foundation have come up with a list of President Obama's Top 10 Apologies. Can you imagine Harry Truman or Ronald Reagan on World Apology Tours?

Anyway, here's what the elves came up with. I am sure this will be a dynamic list - i.e. changing with regularity in coming days as Obama finds more sins for which he must apologize on our behalf:

10. Apology for Guantanamo in Washington: “There is also no question that Guantanamo set back the moral authority that is America’s strongest currency in the world. … Rather than keeping us safer, the prison at Guantanamo has weakened American national security. It is a rallying cry for our enemies.”

9. Apology for the Mistakes of the CIA: “So don’t be discouraged by what’s happened in the last few weeks. Don’t be discouraged that we have to acknowledge potentially we’ve made some mistakes.”

8.
Apology for U.S. Policy toward the Americas: “Too often, the United States has not pursued and sustained engagement with our neighbors. We have been too easily distracted by other priorities, and have failed to see that our own progress is tied directly to progress throughout the Americas.”

7.
Apology before the Turkish Parliament: “The United States is still working through some of our own darker periods in our history. … Our country still struggles with the legacies of slavery and segregation, the past treatment of Native Americans.”

6.
Apology for Guantanamo in France: “I don’t believe that there is a contradiction between our security and our values. And when you start sacrificing your values, when you lose yourself, then over the long term that will make you less secure.”

5.
Apology for the War on Terror: “Unfortunately, faced with an uncertain threat, our government made a series of hasty decisions. … In other words, we went off course.”

4.
Apology at the G-20 Summit of World Leaders: “I would like to think that with my election and the early decisions that we’ve made, that you’re starting to see some restoration of America’s standing in the world.”

3.
Apology to the Summit of the Americas: “While the United States has done much to promote peace and prosperity in the hemisphere, we have at times been disengaged, and at times we sought to dictate our terms. … So I’m here to launch a new chapter of engagement that will be sustained throughout my administration. The United States will be willing to acknowledge past errors where those errors have been made.”

2.
Apology to the Muslim World: “We sometimes make mistakes. We have not been perfect.”

1.
Apology to France and Europe: “Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.”

All of these sound like they would be included in a suicide note.

What would BO have done? Turned the terrorists loose? Guantanamo was necessary and still is as far as I am concerned. We did not react in haste. We did what was needed. I believe we are in big trouble as a nation with BO at the wheel. What is this apologizing to Muslims? We did nothing to them? We were attacked by radicals and that is who we pursued. I am proud to be an American! I will not apologize for my country!

On this fifth Anniversary of the death of our beloved 40th President and one day removed from D-Day ceremonies and his elegant, poignant 1984 Normandy speech - "America does not conquest, we liberate, we hope to ensure the freedom and democracy for all (humane) - That's what OBAMA doesn't get!

It seems Obama has taken on the sins of others. At least he's willing to admit the actions were wrong. Americans are so use to covering up and making excuses for our actions that we've forgotten how to say, "I'm sorry. I was wrong."

He should say he is sorry for running for president and winning.

Well, after what the conservatives did over the last administration, the US has a lot of people to apologize to. Maybe instead of attacking Obama for trying to repair international relations, conservatives should stop pretending we live on an island and run the world. We are a 'community' of nations, and if we want our neighbors to work with us, we need to try to get along with them (bullying does not count).

Well, after what the conservatives did over the last administration, we have a LOT to apologize for. Don't forget we live in a community of nations, and recently WE have been the bad neighbor.

So, Baddock, in this Community of Nations, if I held an open house in our local community and many friends came and enjoyed themselves from near and far, but one came and killed my children in front of me and my freinds because he had a hair up his a@#, and I chased after this individual, and happened to cut across your yard, I AM BEING A BAD NEIGHBOR? Please tell us how a Moderate or a Liberal or a Statist would handle the scenario.

I read every one of those "apologies" and didn't see a single expression of regret, remorse, sorrow or apology. What planet are you people from? All I read were honest expressions, of setting the record straight so we could resume important relationships on a footing based on trust grounded in honesty. Is there some reason we have to cover up our mistakes? Is it necessary, or even advisable? Don't people and states prefer to deal with people who are straight with them, and not just evidently self-serving?

It IS so unfortunate that the US has such a long history of meddling in the affairs of the world, of dabbling in the lives of all those under the thumb of the Taliban, Saddam, Hitler, Mussolini, to name a few. It is so frustrating that we continue to insist on liberty and democracy for the world. And so irritating that we continue to get in the way of murderous dictators like Ahmanutjob and Putin. Why doesn't the US lie down and die like Europe and accept Sharia law? Well, guess what, if BO has his way we will.

I am sorry the US elected Obama, I am sorry I did not campaign against him. That is all I am apologizing for.
