Axelrod cannot explain Obama's Nobel Prize

In 2007, a 97-year-old Polish woman named Irena Sendler was nominated to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. During World War II, she saved 2500 Jewish children from the Nazis through a network that hid them from the Nazis with Polish families and in Catholic churches and convents. For her activities, Sendler was arrested and tortured, her arms and legs broken. She would have been executed but for a well-placed bribe that won her release. After the war, she was also persecuted by the Polish Communists.

That year's Nobel Peace prize went not to Sendler but to Al Gore, a serial self-promoter who personally contributes as much to global warming as many small American cities.

This is why the award of this year's peace prize to President Obama -- who has accomplished even less than Gore -- is not as surprising as it might seem. Even if Obama turns out to be the greatest president since George Washington, he has so far done nothing in office worthy of such an honor. With 205 nominees this year, worthier candidates must have abounded. This award should come as an embarrassment to the White House -- you might even hear Republicans use the phrase "Nobel-prize-winner" when describing Obama's failures during next year's election campaign. If he's wise, President Obama will turn it down.

This morning on MSNBC, presidential adviser David Axelrod was at pains to explain how his boss could possibly deserve this prize. "I think it's an affirmation by the Nobel committee that the things he's been working on and talking about around the world are important for humanity."

Incredibly, "just words" appear to have been good enough to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

You guys are so JEALOUS of Mr. Obama. Congratulate him, be proud that a son of the soil has won such a prestigious international award. Jealousy and envy are a poison to the soul...

Jealousy has nothing to do with it. The Nobel Peace Prize committee has reduced the award to insignificance by choosing a man of NO accomplishments other than surrounding himself with questionable entities.

No Kehinde, not jealous, but worried that the President's hubris will be even more of a problem and make our country more vulnerable to people who will use this award to show the world that he isn't what he's supposed to be.

Glad for the elation his supporters feel, but cautious about how this will play out on the world stage. Also sorry that he didn't have the courage or courtesy to meet with the Dali Lama, a man who lives what he talks when it comes to peace.

When the White House has to try to explain this, then even they know something is wrong!

Maybe it's because he wrecked our economy with all his spending, and some like nothing better than see us brought down!

Carter...Gore and now Obama? It would be interesting to see if the likes of george soros are buying these prizes for their friends. A thorough audit of each and every voting member as well as their relatives might prove interesting.

Nobel is extremely far left. I was shocked to hear on CNN (of all stations) they cannot explain how and why this has been awarded to Obama considering that nominees for the Nobel have to be in by Feb 12th? He took office on Jan 20th! They are awarding him the prize not on what he has done - which is nothing and everyone knows that, but what he is expected to do over the next 4 years which is so wrong. He also gets $1 million in cash. The only thing Obama has done is put HOPE into the lives of people all around the world expecting massive changes and turn the U.S. to a socialist country like Europe.

The nominations were closed 11 days after he took office. What did he do or even SAY in 11 days to WIN the award? Then again, the nutjob hypocrite Gore won it, sooooo, it ain't what it used to be.

Laslavic is right on! The Nobel Peace Prize is now nothing more that a political pat on the back!

Kehinde,
You Obamatrons are so out of touch. We aren't jealeous. We're smart. And able to see through a political ruse. Lying and deception are poisons to the soul as well.

Mr. Freddoso,
follow this link and read the last "myth" about the Nobel Prize.

You are right. Just words, or promises, can earn you a Nobel Prize. It's the only way the left can win them nowadays. Because they certainly can't actually DO anything.

I find it fitting that King Obama is up there with other former nominees, such as...Mussolini, Stalin and Hitler.

Kehinde,

Read the article again. Think about the person who didn't get the award the year AlGore got it.

Read about some of the nominees this year, and what they have done.

Obama has done nothing but read soaring speeches from a teleprompter.

I predict that God Almighty will be replaced with Obama The Diety within 12 months.

He will be praised as the real Second Coming of Christ, and will be given credit for creating the heavens and earth.

WOW, I bet Bill Clinton is pisssssssed!!!!!! Clinton tried for years to win a Nobel just like Jimmy Carter did. Clinton did everything at Camp David to work between Arafat and Israel but he FAILED. So OBOMO is given the prize by a socialist country, why am I not surprised.

Let's not forget that it was also given to Yassar Arafat, a terrorist who extorted billions of dollars that was supposed to go to the Palistinian people. Arafat was also a homosexual pedophile who died of AIDES. Carter, Gore, Arafat. A weakling, a blow hard and a scumbag. This is what the Nobel Peace Prize has come to honor.
