Palin endorses Hoffman in hot NY-23 congressional special election

Former Republican vice-presidential nominee and Alaska governor Sarah Palin has endorsed Doug Hoffman, the fast-rising Conservative Party of New York nominee for the congressional seat of former Rep. John McHugh in upstate New York. Palin confirmed her decision to endorse and make a maximum contribution to Hoffman in a message to The Weekly Standard:

"The people of the 23rd Congressional District of New York are ready to shake things up, and Doug Hoffman is coming on strong as Election Day approaches! He needs our help now.

"The votes of every member of Congress affect every American, so it's important for all of us to pay attention to this important Congressional campaign in upstate New York. I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York's 23rd Congressional district. It's my honor to endorse Doug and to do what I can to help him win, including having my political action committee, SarahPAC, donate to his campaign the maximum contribution allowed by law.
Our nation is at a crossroads, and this is once again a "time for choosing."

"The federal government borrows, spends, and prints too much money, while our national debt hits a record high. Government is growing while the private sector is shrinking, and unemployment is on the rise. Doug Hoffman is committed to ending the reckless spending in Washington, D.C. and the massive increase in the size and scope of the federal government. He is also fully committed to supporting our men and women in uniform as they seek to honorably complete their missions overseas.

"And best of all, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine."

Prediction: Not being identified with "any political machine" will be the most important asset a congressional candidate can have in 2010.

Sarah does follow her own path. I sort of hope that she keeps her independence and steers clear of the handlers that will try to mold her into a blue-suiteded automaton, spouting the party line.

Ideals matter! Sarah Palin believes in Ideals, as does Doug Hoffman. Those people and groups who oppose Sarah and Doug are doing so because they espouse ideas (as opposed to Ideals) that cater to selfishness and power. These groups will do anything to keep their "free lunch mentality" and trashing Sarah Palin is just the tip of the iceburg. The American people are awake now and we are going to support those candidates who believe in and practice honesty and integrity.

Go Gov. Palin!
The only politician I know of that routed out corruption in her own Party and oil companies!

The funny thing is, the libs are thrilled about this. Their hatred of Palin will allow them to support ol' Dede without looking like they're jumping sides. I just hope Hoffman wins or we'll have to hear the "Palin's pull is gone" ad nauseum.

She is anything but a genuine conservative. She is a fair-weather sideshow coming in at the final hour on this race only to seal the unfortunate fate of Doug Hoffman. If he was gaining any momentum it will surely be lost as the news of her endorsement spreads through the District. For every vote she may bring to the polls through her "popularity" she will bring three Democrats into the fold. Her endorsement called upon images of Reagan and true conservatism - sadly this is a vision she can only play lip service to as it is certainly not a reflective of her own ideological composition. http://republicanredefined.com/2009/10/23/palin-enters-district-23-gop-endorsement/

If Hoffman wins the GOP will gasp in shock. The Republican, Acorn endorsed, pro card check, pro cap and trade, pro abortion candidate has been endorsed by Rinos like Newt Gingrich. Lindsey Grahamesty and that progressive light ilk will be exposed for the frauds they are. New York is far from the Bible belt far right radical projected image of what fiscal conservatives are spoon fed by the media and special interest paid for politicians in both parties. Sarah Palin is doing America's work. You Go Girl!!

Sarah gives tea parties etc. a shot in the arm. I think Obama didn't expect the job to be so difficult. He wants to destroy America as fact as he can and be a one term president. He'll have a pension. lectures, books, paid security guards super health plan and fly world wide like Bubba Clinton. wih all his radical buddies overflowing the white house I predict he'll switch to his beloved Muslim religion minus the cutting off of heads. He shouts to the creowds who adore him "Ilove ya back."

Its much more then him winning or losing. It isnt about that at all. Its about holding his own. WIthout a party. Its about him running on Ideas, Ideas that have carried us for 200 plus years. Gov Palin, win lose or draw has and is showing her character. Fair minded people see this, Fair minded people aspire for it to be this way, Where we are a country of principle again, Not a free lunch, Were our Ideas and constitutions and values are a true messure of a person. Its much more then winning or losing its showing We have a voice.

NY-23 has historically been a Republican district. The conventional wisdom is now that the conservative vote will be split between the Republican nominee and the Conservative nominee, leading to a Democrat victory.

Given that the Republican candidate is an out and out liberal, has it occurred to anyone that she might split the liberal vote and the Conservative candidate might win?
