Palin running even with Obama?

It’s not too early, apparently, to test opinion on the 2012 presidential race. Pollster Scott Rasmussen has asked likely voters to decide between Barack Obama and three reasonably well-known Republicans, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin. He also asked about their preferences in three-way pairings between those candidates and recently-resigned CNN commentator Lou Dobbs. There are three interesting findings.

Number one. Obama is essentially tied with all three Republicans, leading Huckabee 45%-41% and Palin 46%-43% and even with Romney at 44%-44%. In other words, Obama is running at his job approval ratinRg level, which Rasmussen has at 46%-54%. This is reminiscent of the 2004 general election, in which George W. Bush’s 51% of the vote mirrored his job approval numbers.

Number two. This is a vote, up or down, on Obama; it doesn’t make much difference who his Republican opponent is. He runs just about the same against Romney, whose favorable and unfavorable numbers are 49%-38% as he does against Huckabee (57%-30%) or Palin (46%-49%).

Number three. Dobbs takes many more votes from each of the Republicans than he does from Obama. Once again, this is basically an up-or-down vote on Obama. This is not like the appeal of Ross Perot in 1992, who took about equal numbers of votes from George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton (and some of whose supporters wouldn’t have voted if he had not been running).

I don’t think these numbers are anything like a reliable indicator of how the 2012 election cycle will unfold; they’re more like a referendum on Obama today, and not a particularly complimentary one. But it’s interesting that three Republican politicians, each with his or her own liabilities, are still running about even with Obama.

Dems are clueless on the economy and how their hoax man made global warming would kill any recovery. It's a God Send that Americans are so quickly seeing through fact none of them are ready for prime time after being out of power for 50 yrs

Obama will keep pushing the deficit up and jobs will NOT return. The economy is going to get WORSE! Count on it!

A snowball would have a better chance rolling through hell intact than Obama getting elected in 2012.

Americans just need to decide if they want to go with another "politics as usual" Republican or whether they want someone with with genuine conservative credentials.

NO MORE "MODERATES" AND NO MORE RINOS!!!

Sarah Palin 2012!

Hostile Knowledge is right!!! NO MORE RINOS AND NO MORE DEMONCRATS!! Sarah Palin is the true hope for the Americans, and she maybe the last and real hope. These RINOS and fence sitting leaders like Mitt Romney, Huckabee, Cist, McCain and Pawlenty are likely to take care of themselves and their own interest rather than the interest of the Americans. They are not the true protectors and servants of the American people. I bet you, if one of them will get elected, they will take care of the lobbyists and there will still be corruption in DC. At least, Palin has the record of fiscal conservatism and fighting against corruption within her own party. She may not be a Harvard graduate but her heart is with the Americans's best interest. THINK ABOUT IT!!!

Whoa there hostile horsey! Not so fast- moderates are rarely a bad thing .We are the most lied to demographic -go after the conniving wolves aka, politicians that assume the shape of the most expedient vessel.True Conservatives don't really buy her schtick.Personally ,I want someone that wears that IS without blemish to lead our Nation. Not another multi tasking former pothead(haven't we had enough party animals over the last few turns? If Palin had possessed the character & courage to spare Sen.McCain the momentum killing weekly revelations - MUBARACK H. Obama would still be just a gleam in Saul Alinsky's eye.

Seems likely that a random pick of any US citizen for political office would be an improvement over the expensive, corrupt, way we go about it now. Certainly it's worth a try - anybody would be better that anyone in either the legislative or administrative branches (maybe judicial branch too).

Whoa yourself, pale horse...

You are NOT a conservative so a lecture from you is an exercise in irrelevance.

You can always spot a masquerading liberal. They can't decide whether to scratch their watch or wind their butt.

I wish the Republicans would unite with Mitt Romney so unitedly we'd be able to get our country back on track to freedom. Huckabee is good on moral issues except for love thy neighbor and that includes Mormons. Palin has courage and Romney has it all.

I'm not listening to polls. It's not just that they're notoriously inaccurate, but when it comes to Palin, there are so many issues involved, it's impossible, I believe, to get fair data. Between the people that hate her for whatever reason and the people who love Obama no matter what..blegh.. it's too messy.

Mitt 2012!!!

Only Mitt is going to be able to fix what Obama is up to. We need a specialist!

Mitt also has great family values and has a real grasp on foreign policy. I would be proud to have him as President--a true public servant and someone who loves America and wants to keep it free and strong!

By inference you are saying that in a heads up match between President Obama and the ,I quit so I can go cash in on my 15 minutes lady,it would be a close race?Thank you for that- I needed a good laugh.

You would'nt believe how far right...

Nov 29, 2009

No masquerade on my part ,in fact your attempt at an insult is pretty funny actually.Your version of Conservatism is too impotent for my crowd,we ascribe to the opinion that the Nation and this time in history demand something more than former potheads & coke snorters to truly lead morally, militarily or culturally.Maybe they're your equals -they are not mine.
