Poll: Obama personal popularity at new low

A new Gallup poll shows that the number of people who have a favorable impression of Barack Obama has fallen to its lowest point since he became president. Fifty-six percent say they have a favorable impression of Obama, versus 40 percent who say they have an unfavorable impression. (Four percent say they have no opinion.) Historically, a president's personal favorable rating has often been higher than his job approval rating; right now, Gallup has Obama's job approval at 52 percent.

In January, just before Obama took office, 78 percent of those surveyed by Gallup had a favorable impression of him, with just 18 percent having an unfavorable impression. By March, the favorable number had fallen to 69 percent, where it would stay virtually unchanged for four months: 67 percent in May, and 66 percent in July. Now, it has tumbled ten points to 56 percent.

Obama's favorable rating has fallen most markedly among Republicans: In January, 60 percent said they had a favorable impression of him, versus just 19 percent today. More ominous for the president's political prospects is the fact that he is also down significantly among independents, from 75 percent in January to 52 percent today. Among Democrats, Obama has slipped a little but is still extremely strong, going from 95 percent in January to 89 percent today.

Gallup points out that in this latest survey, Hillary Clinton is now more popular than Obama. Sixty-two percent say they have a favorable impression of the Secretary of State, versus 34 percent who have an unfavorable impression. That's a big change from the height of the battle for the Democratic nomination last year; in February 2008, just 48 percent had a favorable impression of Mrs. Clinton, versus 49 percent who had an unfavorable impression.

I'm trying to figure out what there is to like. He smokes, he lies continually, he apologizes for you and me for things that we didn't do, and politically - he is a socialist/marxist. What is there to like? He wears expensive suits and is a slick talker?
Would you really want your kid to be like him? He'd be grounded for not just the lies, but for how laughable they are - a matter of respect. How stupid does he think we are?

I think the guy hates America, he's dishonest, devious, and because of him and the actions of his present Democrat Party in no way in the world would I ever again vote for a Democrat. However, I have a favorable opinion of him in the fact he is black, and seems to be a good family man. That part of him I respect.

I am one of the seniors who will receive the 'bone' of $250. In the 'donut whole' this will pay for 2 prescriptions for ONE month.
Our President is like a Carney Huckster, and no truth is to be found in his mouth. I pray that God will change our president's heart and he will see the pain and suffering he has caused with his callous disregard for Americans, 'his country', and the Constitution!

He's still supported by the millions of Americans who stand in line with their hands out, waiting for his "fundamental transformation of America." Translation: Take the money I worked hard to earn and give it to the people he feels deserve it.

Socialism isn't enough for this man. He'll push us to Totalitarianism with a smiley face if we can't stop him.

"Republicans' more positive views of Clinton relative to Obama mark a reversal since January, when Republican ratings of Obama (60%) were much more positive than those of Clinton (35%). Thus, Obama's favorable rating has declined 41 points among Republicans since January, while Clinton's has not moved at all.

Independents' opinions of Obama have also soured, from 75% favorable to 52%. There have been only minor declines in Democrats' opinions of Obama."

This should prove to Obama that Republicans DID give him a chance, starting at a 60% favorability rating. It should also alarm him that he has lost 23% points with Independents.

I don't think $250 is going to make senior citizens fall all over Obama, they already know he is going to cut treatment for them! And I'd say many of our patriotic elderly would tell him to stick his $250.

I researched him during the campaign, I knew what he was, he deserves no respect.

I don't believe Gallup's numbers on popularity. Every one of the signature issues of Obama Administration is in the 40s popularity wise. I believe that Gallup is heavily weighting towards democraps and undercounting republicans and independents. Another possibility is that people are self censoring their true beliefs to the pollster, because of fear of being thought 'racist' if they gave a negative approval on the first African American President to the pollster. Gallup as a milk fed democrap pollster is doing its best to keep up Obama's poll numbers above fifty percent, a herculean task in this recesssion/depression.

He is buying votes with your tax dollars, We will all live to regret the day he came upon the scene. The name of the game is celebrity and he has managed to snag his share. Americans are celebrity crazy,
so it's no wonder they can't see past his agenda, which is to socialize America. Once he has given everything to the poor and ambition has been removed from our society, Obama will be living high off the hog but it will not matter to the poor lemmings. Just look at Cuba, isn't it a wonderful place. That's what Obama wants America to look like.

I am not a very patient person. Why is 52% a new low? He had no executive experience, no business experience, no economic training, no legislative accomplishments, and no military training. He sat in Rev. Wright's church for 20 years and can't remember a thing that the Rev taught him(he says). He is an accomplished liar and is still the President of the United States. 52% of the population is still brain dead.

Are you willing to give that up for this guller with what seems a deep, hostile and personal agenda against this country? Watch him apologize for your country and you as Americans. Do you really believe he likes us or just likes to use us to secure his and his globalist financial backers (George S.) own ends? Some times he doesn't even sound like an American!!!

I am proud to say that I didn't vote for Obama. Our wonderful media and liberal entertainment community were falling all over this guy - because " we had to have an African American President" The reality is we got a liberal elitist. Like most Americans, I was looking for the day when we all could be proud to have a minority in the White House, but my vision was an African American who had real slave roots to this land, and understood America, it's strenghts, it's weakness but more importantly - it's people !!

Just listen to him apologize for America and it's people. The Pied Piper had his agenda and it appears Obama does as well. Maybe he feels as though he hasn't been paid enough and is now leading the rats into Washington.
Sometimes it seems he doesn't even like this country or it's people, but merely uses us to achieve his and his globalist supporters (George S.) own ends (not usually Americas) Indeed, America appears to be for sale and is being sold as we speak!!

Obama is a TOTAL JOKE! I was in DC in early Sept. and the Obama bumper stickers were GONE compared to a month before! The question now is, how do we peacefully remove this moron dictator from power? Do we HAVE to wait for the next election?

With the Stretchmark (around their mouths) Media like Letterman, Olberman, Matthews, the music industry, the television industry, the movie industry, the newspaper industry, the industry that make models of industries, corrupt corporations such as General Electric (using NBC to promote Obama so they get green contracts and into Russia) promoting this mama's boy, his approval is still only 52%? According to the Forbes Rich List, George Soros is now the 28th most wealthy man in the World.

However Soros would not be a multi-billionaire if it were not for the international language Esperanto.

Born in Hungary in 1930 as Gyorgy Schwartz, the family changed its name in 1936 to Soros, which in Esperanto means "to soar." The deliberate Esperanto name-change was an effort to protect the Jewish family from the rise of fascist rulers and the whole family spoke this language at home.

George Soros used Esperanto to defect to the West in 1946, by attending an Esperanto youth meeting in Ipswich, England.

Esperanto enabled Soros both to defect, and to become a multi-billionaire.

Hello!! We are in this mess because of Bush. We are at war in Iraq because of Bush and Cheney and their lies. Just think how much money we spent on the Iraq war...past, present and future and all the soldiers lives we lost for no reason. If a hurricane floods another U.S. city Obama will be there making sure the US citizens are taken care of unlike Bush. I really amazed the critizism you are giving Obama. He helped bring this country from near collapse again because of the Bush administration. Don't you wish we had a economy like we did during the Clinton years and when he left office we had a surplus but again Bush screwed that up. Obama is an apologist who denegrates the integrity of the United States of America. If this is incompetence, then he is incompetant. But I'm getting the feeling that it is intentional, that Obama is TRYING to deflate the power and influence of the United States throughout the world. The question then becomes: WHY?
Is he simply a traitor? Does he have a greater agenda? Will he turn over our autonomy to the UN? I can only see "yes" answers, no "no"s.

There has never been a better use of Saul Alinsky's book "Rules for Radicals" than to marginalize and discredit those who, with good reason, do not believe Obama is eligible to be president. Anyone who uses logic and common sense on this issue will believe, at the very least, a full investigation of this man from nowhere should be done now. There was no vetting, and there are many reasons, from his father not being a US citizen, to his adoption and claiming to be a citizen of Indonesia on the only school admission papers he didn't manage to keep hidden, to his refusal to release his long form birth certificate and many other reasons to doubt his eligibility. I believe there is NO chance he is eligible, and if the truth ever gets out this will easily be the biggest political scandal in history. There is a virtual news blackout on even discussing the issue, those involved in knowingly helping prevent the truth about Obama from getting out have got to be afraid.

Bush destroyed America!! Republican party realizes they are a joke-no real leaders so they are scared and making up lies. If we had Bush in office one more year the United States would have crumbled!! Obama 2012!!

Boy, this publication, its Opinion section and most of the commenters are one big joke. Just keep voting for the crooks who are working diligently to turn you into third-world peasants. If you folks took off the white pointy hood once in a while, you might see that this nation has sunk further than the Titanic in the last decade. All hail the mighty Bush dynasty/kleptocracy!

Did any of you right wing nut tea partiers happen to notice that a majority (that's over 50%, for those of you who aren't sure) of Americans both like our President and support his policies? You guys are still in the minority! And as long as Obama's opponents keep calling him a marxist (or whatever nonsense you dream up) and showing more interest in nasty personal attacks than in solving problems, you will continue to be a minority, a noisy obnoxious minority, but a minority.

Obama appears to be a good father. Other than that there is nothing that makes him great. He hates America, he surrounds himself with radicals who hate America and he distorts the truth every chance he gets. Ask any psychologist : you cannot trust someone like that !!!

To junglejim123:

When did Obama say he hated America? Or are you a mind reader?

What "radicals" have he appointed to his cabinet or any other post since the election?

What specific lies has he perpetuated?

Speaking of asking any psychologist, you should do just that and get back on the meds. The people that I can't trust are those that post inflammatory accusations against a person and can't be bothered to provide any arguments to support them.

Obama is a great leader of his 57th State, the one upholding Harvard's Constitution.

Obama is a terrible leader for the rest of us living in the United States of America who prefer to uphold the US Constitution.

When is this screwed up administration of crooks and liars going to stop blaming everything on Bush? They can't take responsibility for anything. It's pathetic. I'm sure they'll still be blaming Bush when they lose the next election!

There is no way 50% of the Country like him. Look at the internet polls. How can annyone like him? He has ruined our country. Im tired of crazy people acting like anyone who doesn't want to be forced to pay for a public health care(which will be as good as the public school system, in other words the doctors will be as undereducated, untalented, and beat down by bearocracy as public teachers) is some right wing nut. I voted for Obama. I hate him more then McCain and thats saying something.
