These traitors voted as they did because they realize that they will suffer no political harm. I am originally from New Jersey. My relatives, without exception, are brain-dead 'Catholic' democrats. Their only ambitions are limited to getting a job in local government, or the postal service, and winning a basketball or football pool. It is not unusual for their kids to be on drugs, or welfare. Higher education is unknown. Worse, the New England states are populated with such stooges. So, I am not surprised that 'Republican' congressman have evaluated their constituents. We should not just focus on the republicans who voted for this bill. We should focus on getting all of them out of office. Once again,, they did not read the bill or the 300-page amendment that Waxman added at the last minute. Personally, I believe that this is Nancy Pelosi's response to the American people who want an investigation into her accusation that the CIA always lies and to the conflicts of interest built into this bill, including Pelosi and her husband. She will be recorded in history as one of the most reviled politicians of all time, just as this would be the largest tax in history.

This bill pure and simple was suicidal! Climate change caused by human beings is not supported by sound science. The irony here is that this country will simply have to import more oil from unfriendly foreign countries while at the same time destroying our domestic oil and gas industry. While many of us in the Midwest are beginning to enjoy the first warm weather in months, Congress and their minions in the press are busy setting up the next level of the "paradigm shift" and continue to win the battle in the "bloodless revolution" they have waged on our nation. I propose the new border of the Constitutional States of America should start at the Potomac, run NW above Ohio, include the Dakotas and then run generally south down the Rockies. We may go ahead & expand down to the Panama Canal while we're at it (they all speak English there...why not?) and sweep in a few Caribbean island, too (all of Hispanola & Cuba). We would have all the key agricultural areas as well as wealth concentration, manufacturing. Put up a BIG fence on the North and keep the Socialists out. Then we can focus on rebuilding our constiutional republic.

For the last ten years the earth has been cooling. At the same time carbon emissions have been increasing in output. I'm sure that was an inconvenient truth when the house voted on another 1500 page bill that they once again they failed to read. The bill included money for freddie, and fannie mae, as well as new green mortgages, money for acorn, and new building codes. But on the bright side it is supposed to extend unemployment benefits for the 2 million jobs that will be lost. I could go on and on, but I think you get my point it's time for term limits.

I just wanted to thank all of those congressmen who voted for this bill. I really look forward to choosing between feeding my family and keeping them warm and having lights for them to do their homework! Looking forward to bankruptcy, no way I can pay such exorbitant bills. This country is quickly being destroyed and most people aren't even aware what is going on, they will blame the electric companies and the gas companies for the increase costs, they will never believe these are costs imposed on us by a unruly government who is no longer for the people by the people. Its time to start recall petitions and term limitations. We need to take our country back!

I just feel like giving up the stupidity of the average American makes me sick. The liberals have them intoxicated on the kool aid. I watched it live on c-span and i couldn't believe them republican votes towards the end that other wise would have made the bill not pass. The main problem with this bill is the unintended consequences. It will make it even more difficult for domestic industry to compete with overseas "lack of regulation" countries, likely costing jobs while increasing worldwide pollution since jobs will shift to greater polluters.

There are two things wrong with the 8 Republicans who voted for the pitiful Waxman-Markey bill: that there were only 8, and that the bill is so watered down. Take the blinders off. Not only have your embarrassing views been eclipsed by 99% of all findings from the science of climate change but your unconscionable stonewalling will make the US less economically potent. Look at Toyota as one case in point: fuel efficient car makers make more money over the long-term. The US should use its vast know-how and heft to make business more efficient and to gain from technological advances that result from clean- and green-technology. But this will only happen if the incentives are in the right place over the long-term. And this is possible only if the true environmental cost of our economic activity is embedded in what we use and produce. A real shame that Congress doesn't have the guts to lead on this one.

I think everyone is misinterpreting the bill. Go read it. It calls for 90% coal and 10% renewable. There's nothing liberal about this bill, its business as usual. A 4% carbon reduction by 2050? HA! Rotten scoundrels. For that matter, any representative in Congress that voted Aye for the bill is contemptible, because none of them had read the legistlation. It's all partisan politics here. The rubbish they passed is unconstitutional. How on earth can men say it stands any other way? Especially given that no one had a chance to read a 1500 page document with a 440 page amendment, when the only the amendment itself was provided after 3 AM the morning the vote took place. They yes voters should all be convicted of gross negligence and be kicked out of office!! God save us from these thugs.

To Hagelganz, hope you will enjoy skyrocketing energy bills once this takes effect. Making us "energy independent" by making energy unaffordable is similar to a doctor promising to give you a miracle cure to your pain with a cyanide pill. You take the pill, drop dead and the doc tells your family--"See, I cured his pain, just like I promised." Obama is keeping his promise on making us "energy independent". Once this bill hits, we'll all be living like the Amish with horse & buggy travel & candlelight evenings! Of course, horse farts have a "carbon footprint" too so even this mode of travel may be unaffordable. My state (Illinois) just had the coldest July on record--I guess the earth's "fever" gave my state the chills!!
