Specter proposed ban on switching parties in 2001

The LA Times cleverly looks back to when Jim Jeffords switched parties in 2001 causing the GOP to lose majority status. Needless to say Arlen Specter was not very happy.

"If somebody wants to change parties, they can do that," Specter said at the time. "But that kind of instability is not good for governance of the country and the Senate."

Spectacle says changing parties is "not good for governance. . ?" In this instance, it was wonderfully cathartic to get this poser out of the bowel of the GOP. More such cleansing is needed to distill the GOP into the party of the sane, the working people, the lovers of liberty and the Constitution.
