Survey finds only 43 percent would re-elect Obama now

Only 43 percent of voters surveyed by the Zogby/O'Leary Poll would vote for President Obama less than a year after he was elected, or about the same level of support President Clinton won in 1992 in a three-way race with the first President Bush and former EDS executive and national political gadfly Ross Perot.

Perhaps even more worrisome for the president is that only 37 percent of independents queried in the survey said they would support Obama. That figure appears to be consistent with exit polling following the Virginia and New Jersey governorship races which indicated a seismic shift among independents away from Obama and to Republican candidates Bob McDonnell and Chris Christie.

And on the question of trust, Obama also fell far short of his performance during the 2008 presidential race. A year later, Zogby/O'Leary find that 42 percent of voters say they do not trust the Obama White House “at all” to gain passage in Congress of legislation that will create new jobs in 2010, and another 11 percent say they don't have much trust that the president can succeed on that score.

The survey is conducted by pollster Brad O'Leary in conjunction with Zogby International.

“President Obama’s popularity with the voting public has been eroding for some time, but these numbers really drive home the point,” said O’Leary. “Most voters don’t trust the president on the number one issue of the day,  job creation.  On top of that, a surprising plurality of voters, and Independent voters in particular, don’t side with President Obama on the number one issue to him:  whether or not he should be President.”

pssst... hey pull up a chair and let me tell you something. As soon as President Obama passes Health care and everything settles in and the "they're gonna kill Grandma cause she has W.M.D's' crowd is exposed for the provaricators that they are President Obamas numbers will rise like Bush/Cheney's bank accounts.

I am surprised 37% of indies support him. His pork bill has been an epic fail regarding job creation...his promise of 8% unemployment was a lie.

His promotion of higher taxes and higher energy prices, his failures on the foreign front (including the capitulation to terrorists) are not popular with a good number of Democrats--let along indies and Republicans.

Based on Obama's track record and double talk, I am surprise that he even garnered 43%.

They should have been paying closer attention during the campaign - looked at his lack of experience, his voting record, associations etc. Or, they shouldn't vote.
The press is a central player to blame - they did nothing but applaud the Marxist, and not only gave him passes on a number of things, but actively buried them. They behaved negligently... and should be classified not a "free press", but propoganda firms and shills for the Democrats.

Great, now these idiots wise up but we're stuck with this buffoon for 3 more years. We have the opportunity to really change things in 2010 and then the repubs need to prevent another term of Obama. 1 term is enough and it will take time to undo a lot of his damaging policies and clean out the corruption of this democrat administration. Look at the mess we're in already after only 1 year (plus years of a democrat congress).

I think there are many independents moderate Republicans who had misgivings about Obama, but where willing to give him the benefit of the doubt given the economic circumstances during the election. They won't make the same mistake twice, now that they've seen Obama's tax and spend policies and meek, self-effacing foreign policy. Obama will lose Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, Colorado and Nevada, for starters, in 2012. That's my prediction.

Well thank God someone is waking up. I wondered how long it would take before that hopeychange wore off. I wonder what did it. Was it the unfulfilled campaign promises? Was it the outright lies? Was it the bowing and scraping apology tour? Or was it his continual ham-handed treatment of our military men and women and veterans?

Being an Independent, I only wish to have a contender who isn't a prior lawyer, judge, failed business owner, former drug addict, is not in cahoots with special interests, one with a proven voting record and gets vetted more than a teenager from parents when picking up his prom date.

Yeah jeez Obama, why can't you hurry up and fix the 8 year mess Bush left us in. And while you're at it, do it all in your first year ok you lamer?

Anyone else care to shoot wildlife from a helicopter with a high powered rifle? I'm heading up to Alaska to hook up with Palin and talk about how the earth is only 3000 years old while we gun down wolves. It's going to be a great family outing. You should come.

As I've been saying from day one, Obama will be a "One term" president, as these stickers illustrate quite well:

John, how long are you Obama worshippers going to keep blaming everything on Bush? The housing market meltdown had mostly to do with Democrats in Congress pressuring mortgage providers to relax lending standards so that tens of millions of financially unqualified individuals, including millions of illegal aliens, could get sub-prime mortgages. The result of this bone-headed Democratic policy is a record number of foreclosures across the country.

These polls only amaze me because of one adpect--who are the idiotic 43 percent?? They can clearly see Obama and Biden and Pelosi, etc. are not an ounce different from Bush and the Republicans. Right??
