Is anyone surprised? Can you imagine if Bush appointed a "Czar" to oversee 30 billion taxpayer dollars and his only qualification was working as an activist for right-wing causes? Is this crazy, or what? We are all seeing what conservatives have been talking about for years: that the mainstream media is filed will left-wingers. Thank God for guys like Byron York, Bernie Goldberg and Fox News. I asked several prople yesterday who Van Jones was and the only person who knew who he was listened to Mark Levin and was aware of what a disgrace he is. The others, who only watch CBS and NBC knew nothing about this guy! A self-proclaimed communist and radical, Van Jones is simpatico with everyone else in the Obama Administration. Hopefully, one day, it will start getting some mainstream press - but only after they have no choice but to discuss it. It's pathetic.

It was John Hill of the website DefendGlenn.com that found the previously-unknown video of Van Jones calling Republicans a**holes that started this who brouhaha. John Podesta's group attacked them earlier this week and Hill said there would be "payback". Was there ever. 1 video, over 200,000 views in a day and now Van Jones is the biggest story in Washington, eclipsing health care. Kudos to DefendGlenn.

It isn't coincidental that the number of articles or reports on this story by the above media outlets closely parallels their dwindling ratings/circulation numbers. The decline of mainstream media news outlets is in direct relation to their lack of objectivity and fairness in covering the news! This reminds me of what is happening to conservative talk show host Michael Savage: Banned from entering Britain and put on a list with known jihadists and terrorist by England's Labor government. This is what we've known for 20 years. The difference, however, is that now more and more and more Americans, and even those who have never cared before, have begun to realize, address and identify these cases of liberal biases in the media.

Liberal media bias exists not just in the "how & what" is covered by the media, but what is NOT covered as well.

Kudos to Jake Tapper for at least addressing this in his *blog*, but it still doesn't count as ABC covering the story. I think Jake holds himself to a high standard (higher than the networks do!) and knows that if his network won't address the issue, HIS credibility as a journalist is at stake. He's choosing to nip it in the bud and address it himself via the blog. Still, there's not a snowball's chance in hell that we see this on the evening news.

Twenty years ago, in the pre-internet age, I listened to shortwave world news broadcasts in order to follow the crumble and collapse of the Iron Curtain.

All that Autumn and Winter one East Block station after another had drastic changes in format and content as their political facts on the ground changed.

The most memorable was a polite female voice on Radio Berlin who said the station was sorry that they had been lying to their listening audience for years. She begged forgiveness on behalf of the staff and the (new) management.

Why he made Hitler a man of the year in 1938 is not clear, but Hitler was certainly newsworthy and at the time Luce may not have known or believed in Hitler's plans for genocide.

However, it is CERTAIN that Luce did not make Stalin the man of the year of Time Magazine because Luce thought that Stalin was admirable. Luce did not like any communist. But, when the world is at war, there are times when your allies are worth a cover story.

You'll see a marked difference in the results...the word "controversy" is key.

Also, don't forget that Google search algorithms are reported to bias the priority in which "hits" are presented to the user. Nexis allows the user to focus on specific news sources and types, so unless the user does a number of sophisticated "advanced-mode" Google searches, any results may be severely skewed.

Some have commented about getting rid of the media. I think when your opponent is self destructing, let him. We have to have an active and intrusive "media" to keep the expected and natural course of power creep of government. What we are complaining about it seems is when the media not so subtlety paves the road for government expansiveness all in the name of "they know best what we really need".

Well, I don't rely on any of these media outlets for information precisely because of things like this. If you relied on these sources for information you would never get the whole story or any story for that matter. Just think, it was not to long ago these bias media elites had a monopoly on the information that was allowed out there. If they didn't want you to hear it or see it they just buried it with silence. It appears that Mr. York's article has clearly shown that reporting on the internet is unbalanced. Therefore, the government needs to step-in and "normalize" (the PC word for censor) all the "unfair" material written about Van Jones on the internet. In other words, since MSM had very little content about the controversy, well it's obvious that all other sources are lop-sided and should be therefore normalized to MSM/Government values and zeroed-out.

After all...the Administration has confidence that MSM represents the ultimate achievement in honest, thorough, and unbiased reporting. (one might assume that confidence is based on MSM journalists taking Demi Moore's pledge "to be a SERVANT TO the President")
