Why hippies shouldn't talk about economics

The following video from a Santa Cruz, California city council meeting shows why some people really should avoid talking about economics. If you need a laugh this Friday morning, listening to the sage advice on display ought to do the trick:

California economics explained by a Conservative/Liberal/Confused Californian. Anyone want to guess what crop she was growing? Legalize Marijuana and give everyone free land...."come on this is California" , and of course give us tax bak like George Bush...the mind is a terrible thing to waste...

If real estate taxes were not so high downtown more businesses could afford the rents.
Food would be free if only growers didn't expect to be paid for their labors. Now that is inconsiderate of them. They should live in sod huts and toil for free.
It wouldn't hurt for the Agriculture Dept to subsidize fruit and vegetable crops. She's actually on to something here. Corn, soybeans, rice, and for all I know sugar cane are all subsidized by the US taxpayers. Products made from them are cheap - and fattening - while fruits and veggies that make you thin and healthy, are, as a practical matter, only available in healthful quantities to the well-to-do.
California does have some interesting crops.

Response to OK:
You listened to that entire rant and used that one line to interpret this lady as a Republican? Listen to EVERY OTHER THING SHE SAYS and tell me she's not a Democrat. Taken in whole, she is, at best, a Democrat who doesn't hate Bush.

Hippie? Did you hear her? She's a Republican. From her endorsement of Bush to not having a grasp on reality, we know how this one votes.

Alex,
Did you hear her?
"the businesses downtown really need to lower their rent"; that's a Republican? "On the East Coast they have slaves..."; "Why do we have to pay for the land? Its free?"; she is Not a Republican, no matter how hard you want to make her one. Yes, she likes Bush. She also likes flowers, plants, trees, and, you know, like... everything. You know?

John, you forgot the best part: '...fruit and VEGETABLE TREES!' Can't wait to get me some tasty peas off of the tree.

As to her political party? PI- Progressive Idiot.

Good Lord, is the Improvement District committee paying her for her work?

Poor California; has everything, except sufficient quantity of fiscally conservative thinkers.

Who cares whether she's a Democrat or Republican? Haven't both parties proven that they're hopelessly "progressive" and statist? It was a Republican administration that gave us TARP and the prescription drug program, after all. The Republicans stopped standing for capitalism and individual rights long ago.
