Scott Ott's Examiner Scrappleface: Journalists raise funds for troubled Fort Hood shooter

News fairly unbalanced. We report. You decipher.

Journalists across the nation, moved by the plight of a troubled Muslim psychiatrist whose "understandable emotional turmoil" broke out in gunfire last week at Fort Hood, Texas, will hold a major fundraising event in the coming weeks in honor of the accused shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan.

News coverage of the tragedy sparked reporters and anchors in the mainstream media to "reach out to Hasan in love and brotherhood because his righteous indignation at the illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan led him to express his outrage in the only avenue open to a non-journalist," according to an unnamed organizer of the upcoming charity event.

"We in the free press naturally see Hasan's actions as a First Amendment issue," the source said. "As a disadvantaged Muslim American, and captive of the U.S. military, Hasan's options for speaking truth to power were quite limited. He did what he could within his means, and now he's being punished for this expression of free speech."

The event will include a bevy of "A-List" news media figures manning the phones to receive contributions toward establishment of a graduate school that will train disenchanted members of the military to solve their problems with a computer keyboard, rather than with a semi-automatic handgun.

In a news release announcing plans for the fundraiser, the Society of Professional Journalist-Celebrities said, "As Major Hasan lies grievously wounded, cut down in the prime of his life by a police officer whose sworn duty is to protect and serve him, we journalists will do what we can to guard future Hasans from the brutality of an oppressive regime."

"We can't help but think how things would have been different if, instead of a handgun, Hasan would have had a press pass and a laptop computer," the group said. "He still could have accomplished his purposes, and he wouldn't be strapped to a gurney, fighting for his life right now. Rather, he could walk right into the White House or Pentagon press rooms and take the fight to the enemy like the rest of us do every day."

Will the same bleeding heart journalist be so simpathic to "We The People" if we were to use the same "no hope" option against our government???
All of our liberties are threatened by this same government,is that justification??
Are they "God's" that can grant absolution for Acts of Violence??
Was this their way of saying;America is still an un-just place to live??
Maybe it is just another Radical Muslim Terrorist that happen to be wearing a US uniform??
These so-called"journalist"should be covering the part of this story about how this tradgedy could have been avoided!!

Too bad this satire is so close to how the press and this government are behaving.

Wow, pretty crazy piece. Even though this was satire, I wouldn't put it past some extremists to try to support a guy who kills in cold blood, all for a good cause.

A very good satire sir, clearly you confused some poor folks.

If I was a worker in the hospital where this scum is recovering, I would have somehow made it down to the ICU and he would have NEVER recovered!

Hey, I would be just helping him to meet Allah and his 72 virgins a little sooner, so I see that as loving my muslim brother!

Loving him to DEATH!

"The pen (laptop) is mightier than the sword (automatic handgun) in promoting and protecting dhimmitude?

How does our president feel about zealots "who cling to their Korans and automatic weapons"?

To paraphrase Hillary Clinton, "It takes a dhimmi to spread the word."

This piece of satire helps to get across the rage many of us are starting to feel as we turn on news show after news show trying to convince us that this guy is the victim and the teachings of Islam played no role in the slaughter.

Its disgusting what we've allowed ourselves to become.......prisoners in our own society and culture.

Satire is supposed to be humorous and have a legitimate point. This is just plain stupid.

Yet not quite as stupid as those commenters who took it seriously.

Nov 11, 2009

What is troubling is I believed this to be a true news report, instead of it being fiction. I wish that entire incident had been fiction! God be with their families! I pray for them daily!

Is it satire? Or just the truth that we have not yet learned. After learning the truth of so many unbelievable events how can we ever readily sort fact from fiction. After all, that which is fable today may be history tomorrow. And does anybody really believe that there aren't people doing just what was written. If so then they are bigger "IDIOTS" than 'bigyaz' who is obviously auditioning as a writing critic for the New York Slimes.

I am standing here beside myself or sitting there with myself and I am knowing that all the comments before this very one, were wriiten by those who are without a faith to be fanatical about and not of the one true faith, that being the peaceful faith of Satire. Fanatics who are religious are to be found in every faith. Take me for an instance, Barak Obama is a faithful, fanatical follower of the Communist/Marxist faith. Major Hassan was a fanatical follower of the Shoot You First Question Me Later religion. Democrats are fanatical only when they are faithfully raising taxes, a religion defined only by a very deep hole they are digging. Also, I am here to tell me, all who would commit a posting to a website named Scrappleface, must also be fanatics in search of a faith bound together by the satirical wit they cannot understand.
What a state of sad affairs to be in bed with. I am saying goodbye now.
