With all due respect to the author of this article, I'd like to make a comment pertaining the suggestion of the professor who researched welfare reform. Although I do agree that the criminal justice agencies should be involved, the last thing that should be utilized is more sanctioning. 40% of employers are willing to hire formerly incarcerated individuals...so he thinks that these people should be increasingly punished? There dealing with an ever present "invisible punishment" already

One more additional comment: to be politically correct (polite)these people should be referred to as those formerly incarcerated, otherwise this is a form of "invisible punishment" and tags individuals with the past.

Its a catch 22 these people serve their time in prison; get out trying to get their life in order. And when applying for jobs get shot down because of their arrest record or prison time. Something really need to be done in order to help these people and clean out our jail cells. I know this from a personal experience because it a cas with my boyfriend; can someone please help.

As an indiviual in NEW YORK CITY, in social justice, and believe in fighting for RIGHTS. Any indiviual that is HUNGRY, should be entitled employment. In the Bronx, I question where are the resources for MY MEN. Racism still occures today! A caucasian man with three felonies with no experience, against an afro-american, or hispanic with no experience. The caucasian will get the job. Email me! I live in the urban neighborhood, I see my men struggling and want employment, even if it is cleaning offices!!
