Death of the Obama dream

By: Noemie Emery
Examiner Columnist
March 24, 2009

Well, that was fast.

On March 20, only two months after the cosmic anointing, Vanity Fair, of all places, unloaded on Barack Obama, in the terms it had reserved for the past four or five years for the likes of George W. Bush.

Well, not the whole magazine, but one of its writers, media writer Michael Wolff, took an axe to the president, in a posting beginning “Sheesh, the guy is Jimmy Carter,” ending “This guy is leaden and this show is in trouble,” and titled “Barack Obama is a Terrible Bore.”

The same day, ex-fan Peggy Noonan called him “insubstantial and weightless...not fully focused...jumping from issue to issue and venue to venue from day to day.” “The administration’s difficulties...have created an unfortunate impression of incompetence,”
said The Economist. Politico noted that his skills as a salesman have begun to desert him.

It all came at the end of what Rick Klein of ABC News called Obama’s ‘lost week,’ which got worse on Sunday, when he was attacked by the New York Times in three columns and one editorial. One warned of an oncoming fall of Katrina dimensions. And these were his friends.

Actually, since he was sworn, in most of his weeks have been lost ones, or at least weeks headed downward, the problem being that three or four variations on the theme of incompetence have had time to harden and set.

First, the financial crisis he was hired to fix has only grown worse under his tutelage, losing another 2,000-plus points on the Dow since his ascension. Second, the ‘smoothest transition on record’ stopped being smooth when Bush went back to Texas, and has since been a mélange of scandals and dithering. Third, the immense sums in his budget are starting to stun the more moderate Democrats, not to mention the Obamacons, who once put their hopes in his ‘moderate’ temperament.

Fourth, he and some of his high-profile picks have shown a repeated addiction to unforced errors and slights---mixing up names, misplacing dates, dissing Nancy Reagan, dissing the British Prime Minister, dissing the Special Olympics, created and run by John Kennedy’s sister—giving the impression the administration is run by the under-informed and the boorish and socially compromised.

Would Caroline’s father, who took part in his family’s effort to raise his retarded sister as normal, and who as president put great store in his special relationship with “Uncle Harold” McMillan, have found this amusing? One rather thinks not.

In short, the idea of Obama, the eloquent, elegant, trans-racial hero, able to inspire his way around anything, ran into reality and was dissolved by it, revealing a not-well-prepared neophyte politician with an embarrassing penchant for gaffes.

The markets are down, the price tags are up, the British are piqued, and the independents are heading back to the Republicans, who now have a (slight) lead in the generic ballot, for the first time in nearly three years.

Obama’s teleprompter has its own blog, its own code name---Totus--- and is building a following. One laughs with it, and at him, which cannot be promising. For a would-be Messiah, this is hardly good news.

Way back last year---it was called the campaign--- some people, John McCain and Hillary Clinton, to name only two of them, seemed to suggest that something like this might happen, that there were risks to electing someone with no record or background to speak of, who had never done anything well except talk. They were dismissed as too old and too cranky, jealous that they too did not have a fan base of cult-like intensity.

This was probably right---at least about jealousy---but it doesn’t mean they were wrong on the rest. They were waiting for the bubble to burst, which it did, but too late for their benefit.

“Democrats are worried that the Obama spell will break between the time of his nomination and the time of the election, and deny him the White House,” Charles Krauthammer wrote February 15, 2008, winning the Seer of the Year prize for prognostication. “My guess is that he can maintain the spell just past Inauguration Day. After which will come the awakening. It will be rude.”

I don't see why anyone is surprised. Everyone knew that Obama had No governing experience No economic experience No business experience No military experience, and No foreign policy experience. And rudderless chaos is the result.

We all knew this would happen. BO is an empty suit. He can't even introduce his friends without relying on his teleprompter! He and his crew of taxcheat thugs are doing their best to impose socialism on our country and the press is just beginning to notice that every conservative in the country was right last year in their assessment of Obama. God help us!

The "false prophet" is showing us why we need governors and mayors as President and not just Senate talkers. Anyone who votes "present" and just keeps campaigning is not trained for anything beyond speech class. When Carter and Clinton hit rough patches they had more sober Democrats to guide them. Pelosi and Reid don't qualify as they are part of the problem.

The office of President of the US is not the place for on the job training by incompetent advisors, especially when your VP is Mr. Malaprop!

I have come to the conclusion that the majority of American voters are either ignorant, misinformed and/or naive. Obama's resume is thin at best. He is an empty suit who has used his personality to rise to the highest office in the land. There was no substance there prior to the election. How, in God's name, do the ignorant masses expect there to be substance now. People wanted hope and change. Well, they got it, and now they are hoping that they will have some change left when he is finished.

I recall very well Dr. Krauthammer's comment and thought it to be likely prescient. But we should be very afraid. When you combine inexperience and ineptitude with a class warfare driven Marxist agenda, the perfect storm awaits. May God help our great country.

BO is like a dog who chases a car...and then catches it...and then doesn't know what to do with it..as for P. Noonan & G. Will; this mess is almost worth them having to eat crow about their messiah.

It is the Nations Newspapers and Media who are really responsible for not vetting a Marxist radical. Downplaying his lack of experience and making his race be the only thing that mattered. They should be held fully repsonsible. They were given Constitutional protection to do exactly what they didnt do. Expose the mans ideology for what it is and his inexperience for what it would mean.

Obama's largest handicap is simply that he isn't a 'real' thinker. He reacts to issues like a child with a very short attention span. On top of that he is heavily invested in the Socialist mindset. I have to say that if Socialism was so great why isn't the whole world doing it. There must be a good reason and it is simply the the fact that a govt. can't spend it's way to prosperity, someone somewhere has to produce something and sell it for a profit for the world to keep enough incentive to allow prople to have the initiative to produce and prosper. If you take that away as Socialist ideas espose, you end up with nothing but everyone on the dole. So with everyone on the dole, who earns the money to pay them? Read this carefully: SoCiAlisM ...there you go!

We Republicans / conservatives were all confident that something like this would happen. But we were simply called "racist", "dinosaurs", "out of touch", etc. The fact is, 0bama has never tried to lead anything, to build something and make it work. As an ACORN-trained "community organizer", it was always his job to disrupt things. Now, he is on the other side of the desk, and there are thousands (if not millions) of people trying to disrupt HIS plans (not out of malice, as the Democrats are trying to make people believe, but just looking out for their own self-interests). He has no idea how to deal with that situation. He also expected the Congressional Democrats to prostrate themselves before him, but both Reid and Pelosi have said "We don't work for the President" (which is, of course, true - see "Constitution of the United States"). So 0bama has a lot more hostility to deal with than he ever anticipated, and he has no clue how to handle it.

True Haters Some of You Are. Where were you when Lil Bush was spending billions of dollars on smoke screen weaspons mass destruction and stab in the back his ole friend Saddam Hussein. You President Obama haters were somewhere playing your violin, while the US economy was building to a feverish pitch of mass destruction. Now, you pretend to really expect President Obama to just pop on the scene, and in last than a fiscal quarter, make everything right. Have you lost your minds, or are you just haters. It wouldn't have mattered if President Obama had fixed the Republican mess in 4 years, you would still find something to hate him for. Lil Bush had 8 years to make this mess, where was your complaining then?? Please, give yourselves a break.

I have read, a co-worker of his in Chicago, said all he did all day was prop his feet up and write his book and in fact he was lazy. Obama loves the idea of being President, but not the work of the job. He is probably more suited to be a B-movie actor...if he could remember the script.

"On top of that he is heavily invested in the Socialist mindset" Even worse, he has a real dislike of this country, its people and its heritage. All his advisers and family saw America as the cause of all problems in the world. His mother and grandfather were just sure that if "evil" America hadn't stood in the way the entire world would be basking in the glow of world communism. Who would believe that this great country would elect a man who holds it in such contempt?

OMG! ALL TRUE AND GETTING WORSE

Mar 25, 2009

America only has itself to blame. Everyone, even the morons who voted for him, knew he had ZERO experience. We deserve everything we get. I think it was Romney who said that the White House was no place for an "intern-in-chief" to cut his teeth. Romney's advise to Obama on Larry King the other noght was "focus, focus, focus." I think that's good counsel from an experienced veteran. Obama knows that he has to make socialist moves while the economy is in turmoil, or he won't get it thru. So he has to take advantage of the crisis now. If he waits, his window of opportunity is gone. To me the scariest part of his lack of experiece is that Obama himself knows he has none; and yet he pushed forward. One must ask "why?" Why would a guy who knows he's not qualified not withdraw from the campaign? The press refused to vet himself during the campaign. I think we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg now. It's going to get worse--and we deserve it all. We're so stupid.

We need more then prayer we need to stand up and stop this before it's to late. I just read a article that said a depression is a good thing because we can go back to a more simple life!!! WTF!!! Can you imagine the chaos of a depression in a country so spoiled that they have everything at the click of a button?? Nobody has money saved, food and water stored and protection except a few smart people and just try holding off a hungry mob that did not plan as well as you. Not only that but the president can declare a national emergency for ANY reason and take all you belongings and even force you to work. Look them up excutive orders ! Obama has very bad intentions fir this country and the people and day after day we watch as our constitution is trampled and nothing is being done to stop this madness!!!! I also pray for our country our children and for some to step forward and make this stop.

I blame Oprah Winfrey for this idiot! 100% - She convinced the middle to be for the "black man"! Martin Luther King is rolling over in his grave, he wanted us to be color blind! Measure a man by his actions! Voting for a man because he is black IS as racist as not voting for him because he is black. I didn't vote for him because his record on votes was "present" . I wonder if she is still proud of her Chicagoland buddy. I am sickened by all of DC! George Bush bailed out his buddies who donated big $$$ to his campaign fund, Obamas just following suit, no change at all. Why can't these idiots be responsible for their actions? I think they should all return campaign money they received from these companies, FANNY AND FREDDY especially- The scariest words in the english language: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

I blame the Democrats for putting up this guy in the first place. (Second only to the MSM for their failures.) You would think that by the time a political party puts up a guy, they would be putting up someone reasonably experienced and competent. In this case, they didn't.

Sapwolf

Mar 25, 2009

I was saying that is was likely Obama would turn hard left. My prediction was based on a study of what had been vetted (partial, the MSM still owes us quite a bit). His Alinsky beliefs, Chicago Machine, 20 years with Wright, Bill Ayers type friends, disrespect for the Constitution. He has had no leadership job, let alone a real job with serious responsibilities where he could get valuable experience as an executive. He is just the Hollow Man, or still a child in many respects. His 60 Minutes interview betrayed again the snarkiness, cockiness, style with no substance we now expect from him given he has NEVER actually had to meet tough deadlines or tough negotiations, etc. Can anybody imagine Hillary, John M. or Palin having this disastrous first 60-70 days? I don't see how he can last his full term. An average GOP candidate will have a chance in 2012. And watch the GOP take back 30+ seats in the House next year.

There will be no unwinding or fixing the devastation Dear Leader is loosing upon the country. Too many will be on the dole; too many will fear being reliant on themselves; and the "Obama Youth Corps" will be ever-present to report unseemly behavior among neighbors, if not family members. And now with talk of supporting failing newspapers, a Ministry of Truth and Information will be created. Sorry folks, the long wonderful American Experiment is coming to a jarring halt.

The only thing really holding up Obama's popularity numbers are the people who are too embarrassed to admit they were duped and made a terrible mistake. Once those folks get over their shame, I suspect Obama's numbers to be worse than Bush's.

Funny that only a few outlets that provided the truth were so eviscerated by the main stream outlets and rapidly sinking newspapers were so right. I know many who voted for president Obama and are simply beside themselves that all these things are so upside down. Of course, they still blame Bush even though you can show them otherwise. It is almost as if these people cannot accept the truth when they want to experience the reality they voted in.

All You Obama Haters (Kookie Aunt for Obama)

Mar 25, 2009

The problem is that no one wanted to hold Obama accountable for anything other than hope and change. When asked to name 1 accomplishment or view point(other than Iraq), none of his voters could. No one asked him the tough questions at all so we can thank ourselves. Was it due to the fear of being labeled racist? Who knows, but at least we know if our country crumbles that there will be an eloquent John Kennedy/Martin Luther King'esque speech to follow. I'm just hoping (did I use the H-word)that it doesn't include "I inherited this economy".

Did anyone watch FrontLine last night or do you idiots read only the DC Neo-Con Examiner and listen to Faux News? That's the paradox of the situation that we're in now. Government has got to run big deficits to stimulate the economy, deficits that would have been unthinkable ...President Clinton, turned over the keys to a car in good shape, Bush ran the car like an undisciplined drunk teenager, and turned the keys over to Obama. Now the car is a wreck and he gives the keys to Obama and says, "here she is". Of course Sarah would wink her eye and all would be well. McCain would have a breakdown by now.

As a black grandmother who marched with Dr. King, I knew that the election of Mr. Obama was not his dream. He was a wonderful man, who would have been very sad to see so many white folks who voted out of misplaced guilt. This was not Dr. King's message! He would have wanted the most honorable and most experieced candidate to win. Like all people of color, I hoped to see a black man or woman in the White House in my lifetime, but not this way. I wanted it to be someone who cared about America, who didn't see black people or white people, just people. Mr. Obama used white folkses guilt to gain their trust and get their votes. Please pray for our country that these policies he wants do pass.

If we as the American people -- with the benefit of hindsight of the past 60 days -- could get a mulligan, do you think the entire election could have gone differently? I mean, the whole election. With the benefit of "if I knew then what I know now", how many of us would not rather see Romney as President? I did not support him at the time, but now -- with the financial system cascading down around us -- now I would gladly have an astute, experienced businessman in the White House. Throw rocks at me if you will. Romney may not be the best choice during more mundane time periods. But, during a financial crisis such as this, he would be head and shoulders above the performance we are seeing. Just facts.

The MSM got him in. They must get him out NOW. Obama is seriously threatening our liberty, damaging our economy, emboldening our enemies, and offending our allies. And this is what we can see before our eyes. Who knows what's going on behind the scenes. Obama is not eligible to be president. The are many allegations of crime and fraud against him. MSM, investigate and start reporting the truth. Get him removed from office before the damage is extreme and irreparable.

It was evident from the beginning that Obama wanted to play a president on TV NOT be one.He has no clue and those of you who bought into this mess need to do a little research before you vote next time. The MSM will not tell you the truth; the politicians will definitely not tell you the truth! We need an adult back in the White House. I have worked hard all my life toiling with other like-minded persons to help this country become the best free market society that is can be and to set an example for the rest of the world. What type of people led us into a type of government that has failed thru-out the rest of the world? Astute article, followed by sharp comments that are befitting President Obama's performance as the top CEO of this country. However, while many of us wonder aloud how the top man in this country could be grinding it into the ground so quickly, there are still tons of people who continue to see him as the political piper leading them out of chaos. Just look at the percentages of the populace who continue to think the country is going in the "right" direction -- it's up under the Obama presidency. Go figure!

It's Chief Editor is from the Weekly Standard, Emery is from the Weekly Standard, and in this very same issue, Continetti is from -- you guessed it -- the Weekly Standard. Offer opposing opinions much? How about some actual investigative journalism instead of a daily 40-page, right-wing rant at the guy who inherited this teutonic mess from YOUR "conservative" friends. Amen to all the Obama enlightenment that is breaking out. I don't know whether to say he's as bad as we thought he'd be or worse; however, let me comment on Hillary Clinton. Everytime she raises her head in public as our esteemed Secretary of State she seems more incompetent and more a detriment to American interests than she did the last time. I guess Obama AND Hillary fooled more than half of the people, and it seems like she would have been just as bad a president. Remember when she was the smartest woman in America? If the big O weren't making such a negative of himself, we'd be hearing a lot more about Hillary's failings.

The entirety of Obama's mandate appears to be aesthetic. With that clean and well-spoken persona that so attracted Joe Biden to him ---and apparently mesmerized a majority of voters--- this incredible narcissist is finding out that there's a lot more to being President than simply campaigning. And, yet, that's all he does. Twenty-ten and it's all over.

Obama is aN "Obamist" not a socialist. His drive stem from the years of a misplaced childhood. He needed to save himself by "fixing" the world that he found uncomfortable. A world where he was not at home, emotionally nor financially. He has set out to make the paradise that will fix things for all the lost. Note his involvement in his church, the bunch of subversives and activists in Chicago. The pretty speeches gave him the heady rapture of 1930's mindless adoration and demand for "change" in Germany. Since He has the Messiah, he needed not detailed plans, a general will for paradise would be sufficient, that plus the "charm" he counted on. He is a dangerous man because he does not know one cannot impose paradise. Imposition, by its nature, destroys what it wants.

2008 is an eerie replay of 1976. Americans were so fed up with Republicans in 1976 that they elected a relative unknown but utterly incompetant novice to be president. Hooray for AuntKookie telling the Obama haters. Couldn't say it better myself. This mess started in '89 or '90, guess who was President and it wasn't Clinton. To all the Obama haters, get past this, because I know if a Republican was in office people would waste time and comment on how stupid McCain was and how he can't get by without his teleprompter. George Bush was and is a good man. So is John McCain. I can't say the same thing for Obama. His agenda was an easy read from the get-go. He had absolutely no experience and no qualifications for his present job. He doesn't have a clue how to solve ANY problems let alone one of the magnitude he is faced with now (economy). He appears to bounce from one thing to another but if you notice, ALL of his energy is spent on turning this country into a Socialist State all the while saying, "the country voted for change..." He fully believes this is his mandate to march down the socialist aisle. The man should be removed from office NOW!!!

It was cool for the media to push the voters to vote for the first black President no matter his past experience record. He was given passes that would have dogged McCain. Race had nothing to do with my vote for McCain for if McCain was black and Obama was white my vote still would have gone to McCain without question. Obama spoke and presented himself well but if you really listened to him he said nothing. We have another Jimmy Carter again which I considered the most honest but most incompentent President of the last 50-60 years. My fear is Obama will give him a run for that title except I not sure if he's honest with us the people.

The stupid people who voted for Obama were too busy watching American Idol and wishing to suck off the working public's earnings while sitting on their fat asses. He can't and won't do that, so I sincerely believe he is not a natural born citizen and should be put out of office immediately. How can anyone with half a brain, argue with this? As for the reason he won the election, it was largely because people are ignorant, lazy, and don't want to look up the facts before they voted. They just voted that way because grandpa, great grandpa, mom and dad always voted that way. DUH!

What a bunch of whingeing right-wing ratbags you are! The problems Obama is dealing with were all created by the last 28 years of (mostly) neocon policies which have brought the world to the brink of chaos - climate change, war, global terror and financial crisis. Obama may be inexperienced, but at least his heart is in the right place and, with support from the right people, I'm sure he can do better than his predecessors. Whether you lot give him a chance is another thing!

For those of you who don't read your Bible. The Bible states that when the "fig tree" sprouteth, that generation will not pass away until the son of man returneth. The biblical "fig tree" is referring to Israel. Israel "sprouteth", or in other words, became a state, in 1948. A biblical generation is 70-80 years. Do the math. Now you can see that we are definitely in the very last days. In fact, it could be any time now. So if God did indeed let Obama be president, I believe it was for the reason, to usher in the end. The Bible states that in the end time, there will be a one world order, and again, that is what Obama is working towards. Listen to the news!

Dear Posted, If you read your Bible, you would know my comments aren't childish, slanted, views. Isn't that what liberals always do when they can't argue a subject because they will lose? Don't they always call names? Oh, and one more thing, evidently, your mommy didn't love you enough to want you to go to heaven someday. Evidently, she didn't teach you about God and his holy word. She will be judged for that. Or maybe, she DID teach you and you don't believe or maybe you don't care. YOU will be judged for that.

Barack Obama isn't even an American. He's not a US citizen. He was born in Kenya, and his mother was too young to pass US citizenship to him under the laws then. FactCheck is wrong, and Wikipedia will publish only lies concerning Obama's citizenship status. The person to believe is Obama's African relatives and Kenyan Ambassador Peter Ogego, who said, early on, that Obama was born in the Coast Provincial Hospital in Mombasa Kenya. Obama's intentions may be suspect because he isn't constitutionally qualified to hold the office of POTUS. Even if he were otherwise qualified (as a skilled executive), he would not be fit to hold office.
