Mark Tapscott: Obamacare could kill AARP

By: Mark Tapscott
Editorial Page Editor
July 30, 2009

Marketing operations don't get any slicker than the one behind AARP. Their invitation to join arrived in my mail box even before I turned 50. I joined for one year, but never renewed because I knew the truth about this famous group.

That truth is this: Millions join AARP and in return receive a host of useful services and resources. But their money and influence are hijacked to support causes that are absolutely inimical to their best interests.

The hijacking is the work of AARP's Washington staff, which is an integral part of the tireless liberal lobbying machine that runs 24/7 in the nation's capital pushing to protect and expand current government entitlements and to create costly new ones.

But AARP's leadership has outsmarted itself by going all out to aid President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in their drive to nationalize America's health care system.

That was predictable, given AARP history. In 2005, AARP led the charge against President Bush's still-born proposal to reform Social Security by allowing younger workers to put a small portion of their contributions into private investment accounts. Two years before that, AARP backed Bush's Prescription Drug Benefit, the largest expansion of the Medicare program since its creation in 1965.

In short, stick around D.C. for any length of time during the past three decades and you likely figured out that AARP's national office was and is today a key player on the side of Big Government, higher taxes and more bureaucracy.

The group has no PAC, which creates a patina of non-partisan respectability, but a look at the political contributions of the people working in AARP's Washington office exposes the real AARP

A. Barry Rand, AARP's CEO, maxed out for Obama in 2008, giving $4,600 to the president's campaign committee and $4,300 to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint production of the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee. And AARP general counsel Joan Wise gave $1,000 to Obama.

But FEC records reveal that big bucks for Obama from Rand and Wise are just the opening line of the AARP story. The following data are for 2006 and 2008 and only for individuals who listed AARP as their employer.

Policy director Jill Fensen gave $300 to Obama, while AARP research director Linda Fisher gave $750 to Obama, $2,300 to Hillary Clinton, and $250 to the Virginia Democratic Party. In 2006, Fisher gave a combined $2,300 to assorted Democratic campaign outlets.

Then there is AARP policy director Enid Kassner who gave Obama $750, AARP health advisor Lee Keiser who gave the DNC $500, AARP strategy consultant Joseph Liu who gave Obama $2,300, and AARP project manager Beth Lazur who gave Obama $1,500.

The list goes on and on: AARP speechwriter Erica Nash-Thomas gave Obama $2,350, AARP consultant Bryan Rawlings gave Obama $1,000, and AARP economist John Turner sent $900 to Hillary Clinton, $1,918 to the DNC, and $426 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. I could keep going here, but you get the picture.

There were a few AARPers here and there who gave to GOP candidates. Matthew Mitchell, who listed himself as an AARP "executive," gave Fred Thompson $1,000, AARP attorney Nancy Bell gave McCain-Palin $500, and AARP accountant Diane Knotts gave $500 to the Republican National Committee. But working for AARP as a Republican must be a lonely experience.

So why could Obamacare be the death of AARP? Among so much else, Obama and AARP promise seniors they can keep their present doctors, but an already worsening national doctor shortage will be made far worse by Obamacare. "Cost-saving" fee reimbursements and increased red tape will drive them out of the profession.

And Obama and AARP promise seniors high-quality care, but the Obamacare reality will be long lines and waiting lists for critical treatment and appointments with specialists here, just like in Canada, Great Britain and every other nation with government-run health care.

Finally, Obamacare will give seniors counseling to help them "consider their options" when their health deteriorates beyond a certain point. That's another way of saying Obamacare bureaucrats pull the plug, regardless of the family's wishes, so get ready.

In short, Obamacare means health care rationing for old folks, the sick and the terminally ill. There will be hell to pay for AARP with its members when this ugly reality becomes crystal clear, as it most certainly will.

I've been asking the same question of how an association would push a viewpoint totatally against the interest of it's members...

Much as NOW destroyed its credibility when it backed Bill Clinton over Gennifer Flowers and Monica Lewinsky, they are proving that they are just another group where the bureaucrats are looking out for their own interests rather than the public it is supposed to serve-same for the AMA...

Years ago, I figured out the AARP scam. I wrote a director about the AARP health care push; I got back a long letter about the glories of socialized Rx.
What broke the camel's back, is AARP conducted a poll and inclued 18 year olds. I understood then that AARP was a front, a bogus organization.
I had signed up for another 5 years. I demanded my membership be cancelled and the money refunded. The money was.
Since then I put in File 13 every AARP invitation. Why would I want to belong to a front that does not serve my intersts?
AAA is a better deal for rooms and insurance and a lot more.

MY HUSBAND AND I DECIDED IN THE LAST MONTH, AFTER RECEIVING 2 PERIODICALS FROM AARP AND NOTING THAT AARP WAS NOT SHOWING ANY SIGNS OF STANDING UP FOR SENIORS THAT WE WILL NOT RENEW OUR MEMBERSHIP TO AARP AFTER CURRENT CARDS EXPIRE. LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE IN WASHINGTON TODAY, IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY FOR A FEW WHILE WE THE PEOPLE GET TAXED OUT OF EXISTANCE. CAN YOU IMAGINE THESE PEOPLE IN WASHINGTON IE: CONGRESS AND THE WHITEHOUSE WON'T BE SUBJECT TO THIS WONDERFUL OBAMACARE? THIS IS ALL SO DISGUSTING AND MOST PEOPLE AREN'T EVEN PAYING ATTENTION.

Jul 29, 2009

Every senior needs to share this with all of their friends and family members. CAll out AARP for their wrong-headed support of OBAMACARE which bodes very badly for seniors.

So the alternative is a 100% mandated private insurance option? You know what I don't want health insurance, I DON'T want to go to the hospital and that's my choice, but don't tell me I have to pay for someone else's health insurance. I'd rather pay for the health costs directly rather than health insurance -- this is robbing the American Citizen in any form.

Please let your voices be heard. Get on the phones to AARP and of course your representatives now. These call MAKE a difference. You don't have to be an eloquent speaker! I hate making these phone calls and and sputter, but the work needs to be done. If we don't stop Obamacare we'll be spitting and sputtering to our graves or urns.

I wish everyone reading this would write their local paper and complain both about the AARP and the newspaper covereage (if it's as bad as mine) and ask if they have read the whole bill (all three or four or five of them) and please refrain from endorsing it until they have. The devil is in the details and there's a thousand pitchforks in this.

I cancelled my AARP membership today. AARP has betrayed me and other senior citizens by supporting President Obama's proposed Healthcare legislation. I do not wish to be a part of an organization which is not looking out for my best interests.

I called today and cancelled my AARP membership.
I also have roadside service with AARP which I already told them I'll go with another company in December when it's time to pay up for another year.
No way is AARP looking out for the seniors.

AARP has always been an astroturf grass roots organization for Senior Citizens. It was first organized by an insurance company as its marketing arm. It has grown into a seller of over priced insurance specializing in selling to elderly who don't look to hard at the product. It doesn't, and never did represent the interests of anyone except the makers of the cheesey insurance and other products they push in thier mailings and magazine.

AARP can only be suporting Obama Care because they believe it will incrase their sales of pricy insurance products to "fill in the gaps" in Obama Care!

Buried in this "hellth plan" are two radical policies comprising a program of eugenic engineering
A) THE FOCA (Freedom of Choice Act)in collusion with Planned Parenthood~funding all abortions on demand and mandating ALL AMERICAN hospitals provide abortion(60,000,000 since Roe v. Wade). B) A "rationing" of Care provision" to "elderly"citizens apportioned by a government Czar and "Care" bureaucracy (comprised of 53 departments). The culture of Death as national policy...

AARP is one of several "associations" that exist primarily to sell group insurance and benefits. Others are AAA and NFIB. Their "advocacy" is just a way to make members think they are important.

More than twenty years ago, my wife recognized that AARP was "THE ENEMY". We chopped her card up and returned it in the next AARP post paid envelope we were sent. Shortly after that I began a active campaign encourage all of my every one in the family follow our example.
It always makes me feel better when I return a postage paid envelope that has been packed with cardboard to maximize the weight.
I suspect that AARP is linked to the SEIU, Acorn and the DNC..
Don't just cut up your card, return it to the AARP at their expense.

AARP is rather stupid to support a bill that, in essense, will pretty much rid itself of members because Soylent Green is on the horizon, people, make no mistake.

What idiots! I guess that they will lower the membership age to 30 so that they can have members more in tune with the "do your duty to society, old people, and DIE" because the care you need is way too expensive.

jgh: You may wish to look at some of the big payers for a stop gap such as Aetna, UHC, or Cigna.

Jul 30, 2009

It is good to read that others drop the postage paid envelopes with offer declined in the mail . It does not appear that AARP does anything for seniors other than a discount program that is available from a host of other organizations . The campaign by AARP against the Bush attempt at social security reform only served to make it more likely that SS will collapse .

Suzanne Nostrand

Jul 30, 2009

Go to the AARP website and read what their members say. I should say mostly ex-members. But, AARP doesn't care. It is just an arm of ACORN/Dems. Has been for a long time.

Stephen

Jul 30, 2009

I let my membership lapse a few years ago when the prescription drug plan was passed and AARP's position was "not good enough."

Yes, I'm a senior. I guess you could say that we are a special interest group. But I'm also a parent and grandparent and the AARP's advocacy is sowing the seeds of an inter-generational battle.

As much as I would like additional benefits I also want my children and grandchildren to be able to afford homes, college, etc. and it is, therefore, important, that we be mindful of the taxes that the younger generations will have to pay for our benefits.

I don't believe that AARP's staff could be oblivious of where their policies would take us but I knew that I did not want to be any part of it.

Of course I loved those AARP discounts but some companies, like Marriott Hotels, used to offer an AARP discount but now offer a "Marriott Senior" discount.

AARP is one of the most virulently anti-gun organizations there is, despite the fact that their membership has the second highest gun ownership rate of any demographic in the US.

Don't believe me - google it for yourself.

As far as I can tell, they don't do a thing for seniors that they can't make a buck off of, and those dollars are used for their own agenda, not to help seniors.

A pox on them.

Jul 30, 2009

Over the last year, most of the AARP periodicals that I received had one or two very glowing articles about Obama and his plans for older Americans. Most everything in the article was simply a cut and paste job from Obama's campaign web site. It was apparent at that time that AARP was not going to do anything more than cheerlead for Obama and for other liberal candidates. I cancelled my membership because of it. Since I'm only 53, they are missing out on years and years of membership dues from me. I'm not about to send a dime to an organization that supports electing someone who hates the military (my profession for 22 years), entrepreneurship (my current profession), and hates old people (as I'm soon to be one).

I would just like someone to explain to me where the savings from counseling are going to come from if it will not come from euthanasia by withholding treatment. I call it "Hatch to Hatchet" health care.

Ruple Ranger

Jul 30, 2009

I did all I could do -- quit the organization, insisted on a refund of unpaid dues and told them it was because AARP leadership was working contrary to my interest as a senior. I urge others to do the same.

AARP has joined the supporters of Obamacare, clearly in direct opposition of its membership base. Guess that is what happens when you get federal money kickbacks to side with the enemy.

I have informed my parents, family, friends, etc to stay away from AARP for the past few years now. Good to know there are more people like me out there voicing their dissent at this crooked organization.

Jul 30, 2009

AARP lost me when they refused to even allow discussion to modify the impending Social Security disaster during the Bush administration and I let my membership expire at that point. They are, for all intents and purposes, nothing but a mouthpiece for the democrat party.
Sad.

Jul 30, 2009

I dismissed AARP from my life five years ago as the realization came into view that it was going more and more to the extreme left with its support of a radical social agenda, ACORN and the idiot liberal Democrats. I don't give a rats ass about the AARP. They do nothing now but push pricey insurance products and lots of other oerpriced crap and useless discount coupons. With their support of Obamacare AARP surely stands to lose many more members. It no longer supports the best interest of seniors.

LouGots

Jul 30, 2009

AARP has been consistently anti-gun. Older Americans tend to be pro-gun, it's our culture. Why is this? Obviously, The AARP sees itself as part of a vast, left-wing united front. Never joined, never will.

The AMA is hemorraghing membership, doctors dropping out due to their opposition to Obama-Care. We are already researching alternatives to our AARP policy and WILL cancel with them very soon. AARP is now run by a group of 40-something Ultra Liberals who apparently don't believe they will ever grow old. Like Congress they do not listen to their paying membership.

Page 425-429 of the healthcare reform policy cover "end of life counsel". At one time the AARP enhanced ones "golden years". Now the AARP acts like the baby boomers are an inconvenience! They cannot wait for the 60 year olds to die! They are hypocrites through and through.

Jul 30, 2009

AARP has been in my life since I had let my insurance lapse without signing on to another insurance in 2006. In other words, there was a gap in coverage. I could not get insurance FROM ANYONE, because I was overweight(5'6", 220lb.). I have not missed a day of school since 6th grade, including high school, college and 25 years of teaching! However, they profiled my ancestry, finding diabetes and heart problems and deemed me "not a good risk", evidently. AARP Insurance (which they say is NOT insurance, just an organization that bargains for the best price) would cover me for $186 a month. So far, so good. I DO NOT have to be a member of AARP, though, and that will stop TODAY! (BTW, I've lost 21 lb. so far :))

Jul 30, 2009

Have finally canceled my membership in AARP and will encourage others to do the same.

John Henry

Jul 30, 2009

AARP does not exist to serve its members, it exists to sell insurance. It has no other function than to make its owners (not its members) spectacularly wealthy.

I suspect that it sees an opportunity under the Obamacare scam to get on the gravey train for even more money.

BTW: All those AARP mailers you get? Stuff all the papers, unsigned and unfilled, back in the postage paid mailer and drop it in the mailbox. Each time you do, it costs them about $1. If enough people would do this perhaps they would stop.

Does anyone else think it's interesting that AARP has records for EVERY American who hits 50 years of age? Who gives them that info?
I've been getting their solicitations for years, and have never joined. They're NOT on the up-and-up!

I would certainly trust AARP more than the insurance company profiteers and the conservatives who oppose Obama, real health care reform, and the public option. Americans want what Obama is pushing.

Jul 30, 2009

We need to register our formal opposition as a group to AARP's anti-senior blanket endorsement of Obama's health care plan.

Please check out the AARP website group, "Opposing Government Health Care" on the health and medicare group. We are getting a growing group of seniors who are opposed to Obamacare and to AARP's anti-senior position on health care reform.

Just comment and voice your concern so we can get a critical mass opposing AARP's anti-senior positions.

THIS IS MY COMMENT - I HAVE HEARD AARP COMMERICALS AND WONDERED WHERE THEY STOOD AND WHY THEY SEEMED TO HAVE SO MUCH AUTHORITY. NOW I KNOW WHERE THEY STAND AND SINCE I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN INVOLED WITH THEM I NEVER NEVER WILL. HOW DISGRACEFUL TO FEEL THAT YOU CAN PLAY GOD AND DECIDE WHO DIES. WELL - MAYBE THEY WILL GET THE CHANCE TO BE ON THE RECEIVING END OF SOME OF THIS - IF IT PASSES.

Jul 30, 2009

Just remember that keeping your "benefits" doesn't mean "treatment" won't be reduced/rationed under Obamacare. If they reduce the Medicare reimbursement to doctors do you really think doctors will be wanting to take on any new Medicare patients? Try moving in retirement and see how easy it will be to find a doctor. Is AARP telling you this?

Obamacare

Jul 30, 2009

With 1/6 of our counrty not insured (because they cannot afford health insurance) that would mean that the resources now allocated to the 5/6 that is would have to be spread to the whole, in other words, a 20% increase in load (do the math, folks.)

There is no way we can cover the additinal 20% load without increasing the resourses. There is no magic cost savings or anything that will do it. SO, the country has to make a choice - either let the uninsured 20% perish or suffer or do something. What we do says a lot for us as a nation.

"There will be hell to pay for AARP with its members when this ugly reality becomes crystal clear, as it most certainly will."

I figured this out yesterday before the AARP/Obama townhall meeting. That was when I cancelled my membership. I urge other seniors to cancel as well. Maybe the death counselors can distribute such cancellation forms. Kill two old birds with one stone, so to speak.

I canceled my AARP membership Tuesday after receiving a AARP letter with petitions to sign to send to my senators
and congressman saying I supported Obama's health care program. When I canceled the operator told me AARP had not endorsed Obama's health care but they wanted health care reform. What a lie! The next day my sister tried to cancel her AARP membership and was on hold 1-1/2 hours before she was disconnected. All of us Seniors need to band together and tell AARP to drop dead. They need us but we sure as heck don't need them!!!

Even though I'm not a current member I called AARP to complain about their championing of Obamacare. Good for all of you who have cancelled. A friend passed his AARP mag to us prior to our turning 65. I did some checking and didn't find their Medigap insurance all that great or cheap, so we did not join.
In my opinion....without Tort Reform (set limit for lawyer fees and Losers pay court cost), and barring a few million illegal aliens & 'anchor babies' from being covered, any national health care is just Socialism, plain and simple. The liability insurance premiums to defend against law suits is a huge part of cost for doctors, hospitals, drug companies, and anyone else in the medical field.
I will die without any care ever again, rather than give my grandchildren over to Socialism.
AARP has been exposed.

The overwhelming sentiment reading through these comments is 'AARP has been exposed', is not supporting the membership, and membership cancellations
Important to note: insist on a refund, write your congressional representative. Oppose the hellth care plan, ask where czar we headed? 2 important issues - hellth care intrusion is a step to socialism, czars are basically accountable to no one in congress.

I just cancelled my subscription to AARP after 2 years receiving the Socialist Agenda supporting articles in the articles and flyers. It is presumptuous that AARP speaks for the membership when endorsing the Healthcare Legislation. Even more presumptuous, the congress is attempting to intervene in the physician-patient relationship. Ridiculous!

If my memory serves me correctly, a huge percentage of seniors voted for this anti-American president. It's all about "change." Well, you got it.

I am happy to see the many people that have cancelled, or not joined, the AARP bandwagon that is singing their own song. They sure as hell are not singing for us, the senior citizens that they supposedly are working for and caring about. If enough of us cancel our membership, maybe they will go down with the president and his pals. Thanks for nothing, AARP.

I did the same thing Tempest in a Teapot did. I joined the NRA instead of AARP. AARP lost their soul "to the company store" a long time ago. They only represent their own self interest.

The AARP Ad campaign, with articles on & endorsements by famous personalities is misleading. After a hard sell by an AARP phone solicitor was firmly refused (on tape)-my 80 year old widowed mom started receiving statements for "services"& office visits .She called to straighten them out (again on tape) & had assurances it would be taken care of immediatly.Months passed with no further problem, then she was inundated with letters threatening referral to a collection agency for physician office visits & related "services" in the State of Missisippi.Impossible ,No way ,never happened. Her last call to complain (on tape ) yielded the smoking gun ,the supervisor stated that my mom's signature was on the application.Calling the AARP's bluff ,my mom requested a copy which threw a spanner wrench into the gears it seemed ,judging by the representative's stammering promise to"mail it out to you today".THAT ,as they say ,WAS THAT!

I've been a member of AARP since 2007.My card is good to 2012.I just cut it up and mailed it back to them in one of thier prepaid envelopes with my thoughts.Every time I get an offer I will make them pay the postage to let them know how I feel about this..I would like to see everyone who reads this do the same. They not our advocates..It's all about the money.

I wasn't happy with AARP back in 2005 when George Bush attempted to start a "save" of Social Security by offering younger workers a choice in where their money was invested. AARP helped kill that idea. It's better late than never; I'm cancelling my membership. It's apparent the cost is WAY TOO HIGH!

Any bill to "improve health care" for everyone should mandate that all government officials from the President on down need to belong as regular members and eschew any supplemental health insurance. What's sauce for the goose needs to be sauce for the gander.

My husband demanded we quit even getting mail from AARP five years ago and I didn't understand why until read their magazine. Full of left wing agenda supporting abortion and other things that I do not support! I am now a life member of the the NRA and proud of it. I hope everyone has heard of what is on pg 425 of the Obamacare pkg.
It's how seniors will be denied health care and counseled to die if sick. Really worse than that! Join the NRA! There will be a reckoning someday!

I went online and did some research. On AARP's web page there is a link to "Divided We Fail." This is explained as a joint effort formed between AARP and SEIU (Service Employees International Union). SEIU and ACORN are affiliate organizations as stated on their web pages. Wade Rathke, a former member of the SDS in the 60's, founded ACORN and two local chapters of the SEIU. Go online and research all this. There are several good articles by the San Francisco Examiner...type in ACORN and SEIU in your search engine...see what you get. Everyone needs to get out of AARP now!

obama plan--reduce expenses by denying health care to anyone possible- especially seniors. when seniors die prematurely from lack of care - all their assets come into play through inheritance. thus taxes will eat up most of those "illiquid" assets and the government will have more money to play with, in addition to reducing the social security load. wake up all you who tought voting this chicago gangster into office was such a great idea.

I will cancel my membership, too, but need to know what you all might suggest about the long-term health care policy i hold w MetLife thru AARP? MetLife says I have to speak with AARP, and its been a few years since I enrolled...so getting new coverage will cost more...???

It is a crying shame that illegal Mexicans who drive across the border, welfare couch potatoes, drug addicts/dealers with crack babies will be receiving better health care than my dear sweet grandmother. She was born in this country, has paid taxes and worked as teacher. What a slap in the face!!! He's going to slip this one by us just like the stimulus package if we don't do something NOW!!!

Thank you for your editorial explaining the tactics of AARP. I am 67 years old and have medicare coverage. I have also been a healthcare consultant for 40 years and owned a PPO so I know how plans work and how providers react to fees allowalbe and retrictions in patterns of treatment.

Currently I retired in a small town in central Texas where the local providers will accept medicare allowables for their sevices. If those services are cut further most of those individual seeking care with few other assets will have to move to doctors that are less experienced and qualified. I will be able to continue my care with my current doctors and pay the difference, however I am one of the fortunate few.

For the life of me I cannot understand why the seniors do not understand this, but your article is a good start.

Thanks,
Dick

The wife and I dropped our membership years ago when I discovered the background of the execs. Most of them are ex bureaucrats with one govt. pension in hand and are working on their next pension. I have since found out that we get senior discounts without having to show any membership card. So I see no nedd to line the pockets of these bureaucrats and their families.

I never joined AARP in the first place because they consistently side with loading our kids and, and now grandkids, with ever more debt. How selfish of us to want for "me me me" on the backs of our kids and grandkids! They show none of the wisdom I expect of us older folks, none of the caring for our progeny I would have expected of an organization of us "wiser" ones.

Everyone please resign, for the good of our kids and grandkids. Show America that we older ones want to hand the next generations less debt.

They try to buy us off with AARP discounts, but at what price?

My wife and I are appalled with AARP's stance on social issues. The very people they are supposed to represent they are turning their backs on.It also looks like they would like to do away with the first admendment. Any true American would not be a AARP member(ACORN)We want reform not socialism! We need to organize and stop this libral onslaught. Americans take to the streets and stop sitting on your hands. We cannot let the 20% rule.Remember mid-terms are just around the corner. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

This article is a joke! It's a series of false email talking points that simply are not true! So what if people, like the CEO donated to a campaign? In his case before he went to work there! Unlike the insurance companies opposing this they don't make donations in the millions of dollars. Playing the scare seniors card heh! Outstanding! Brilliant! What a tool!

I canceled my AARP membership tonight on the basis that I can no longer support an organization that is so anti-senior citizen. But, AARP is only a drop in the bucket relative to our future and our kids future. They will be seniors sooner than they know it.
My only hope for this country is that other senior citizens will fight back and vote out every Senator and Representative that choose to vote yes on bills that he or she could not read and not understand. Craming massive legislation down our throats with only hours to digest is devious, decietful, not American and fundamentally against the reason why we send people to congress and the presidency to represent us. Find out how your representatives have been voting lately. If they could not and did not read the bills and voted yes, and, if they voted yes for this healthcare BS, vote them out next time you have the chance. They do not represent you.

Just cancelled my membership after watching the supposed "Listening Session" video and then going to AARP website to the Divided We Fail sub-site. Health care positions aside, any senior who cares about the financial future of their grandkids should burn their AARP cards. AARP's leadership has almost never failed to support entitlements that would sacrifice the financial outlook of their grandkids for their own personal gain. AARP wants to put a bunch of stuff on a national credit card so their constituents can live it up today -- and stick their kids and their grandkids with the bill.

I read it--and I won't ever join AARP. I even wrote AARP and asked for clarification on certain issues. Their response was inadequate, telling me they knew best and any of the issues I had read about were simply not issues.

Apparently they don't even care that members are leaving. They certainly didn't try to take any opinions into account. They endorsed the very next version of the bill that still contains huge issues.

C Barry Rand and the AARP are selling out seniors in order to make millions peddling a medicare supplement called medigap, mr rand a big obama donor should be investigated along with the rest of the aarp leadership, this is nothing but pure corruption by an organization that claims to represent seniors. it's time to speak up and put the aarp out of the insurance business
