THE DAILY OUTRAGE: Another bridge to nowhere

By: Daily Outrage
Examiner Editorial Feature
November 5, 2009

Who: Gov. Joe Manchin III, D-W.Va.

What: Provided $80,000 in federal stimulus funds from his discretionary fund to build a walkway bridge entering Hamlin, W.Va.

Why it's an outrage: The bridge would be constructed next to an already existing bridge that has a sidewalk. Town residents are furious because they were kept in the dark about the decision to request the funding and the decision to grant it.

Where to vent: Call the governor's office at 304-558-2000.

This is so insane these bloggers are as lame as Lincoln County politicians, this is one of the most needed projects I can think of in Lincoln County, just visit the Town of Hamlin during morning and evening school hours and find students walking a the only main road which is State Route 3 with no side walks, the river on one side and a mountain on the other. School Board President Carol Smith did not object to this in October 2007 when the first grant was submitted, in fact there was a motion by board member Chris Ramey to support the project and went on to rave about the need and what a great project.
Chris Ramey is the newly sworn in County Commissioner as of Friday Morning. Facts Gentlemen and I hope the Governor has the true facts if anyone is stupid enough to call and the person printing his phone number really should look at facts before going there. The Grant Committee I am certain rated the projects on the merit, facts, and need.
