Lots of Americans get to wait forever--they can't get the care at all.

That's baloney, Peter. Anyone in America can walk into a public hospital emergency room and receive care within a matter of hours.

Peter, I agree 100 % with your opinion. I do have medical insurance, but still believe that a change is in order.

Peter, that is a lie. I am one of the uninsured that you say have to wait forever or receive no care at all. I had brain surgery, when it didn't go well I was in ICU for a month. A few months later was rushed to an emergency room because of stroke symptoms, and was not turned away. I have had treatments, tests and seen doctors. There are also drug companies that give their medications to people that need them, FREE. They never refused me, or denied me health care. So don't spread the bull that somehow there are people in American turned away, or do not have access. Its deceptive, and apparently you have no idea what you are talking about!!!! I am suppose to be one of the people that this system is suppose to help, and there is no way I want to see this system implemented.

hopping mad no one is gonna refuse someone who is in need of dire care thats totaly unethical. the problem i have is that this article proclaims that only high priced private care can produce medical breakthroughs. sorry to burst you bubble but insulin was discoverd a little lab at the univeristy toronto by a small team of doctors. that just gose to show that you dont need to have a billion dollar budget to make progress.

Guys it does happend here now! My Mom broke her foot and we went to a public hospital, she doesn't have Insurance. They would not help her unless we made for the surgery up front. I was so mad. She had to wait for 3weeks for her surgery at UMC University Medical Center ran by the State. It does suck when the State runs things and when you are denied for help because of no Insurance. She should have got the help she needed, not put on a waiting list.

I am 65 y/o type 2 diabetic. I have been in the Canadian health care system most of my life. I have had some health problems related to my diabetes but have never been on a waiting list. I get great care from my doctor who has cared for me for 20 years.
