House Speaker Paul Ryan and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., had an emotion reunion Thursday when the majority whip returned to the U.S. Capitol for the first time since he was shot three months ago.

Ryan was brought to tears when he saw Scalise, and two embraced before reflecting on the majority whip's first few days in the hospital, when Ryan went to visit him.

Scalise was shot in the hip in June when a gunman open fired on a group of Republican lawmakers practicing for the annual congressional baseball game. The Louisiana Republican underwent multiple surgeries and intensive rehab, and had been in the hospital since the shooting.

Scalise returned to Congress on Thursday for the first time since the shooting to deliver a floor speech before his colleagues, and received a standing ovation from his fellow lawmakers when he entered the House chamber.
