A Prince George's County police officer died following a car crash in Clinton Thursday afternoon, authorities announced.
Officer Kevin Bowden, 28, crashed into another vehicle on Branch Avenue at the intersection of Surratts Road, according to police spokesman Cpl. Larry Johnson. The crash sent Bowden's cruiser into a nearby pole. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A six-year-veteran, Bowden had a 10-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter.
The female driver of an SUV was also injured in the crash. She was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Johnson.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
It's the second time in recent months a Prince George's officer has died in a crash. On Aug. 20, Prince George's Officer Adrian Morris, 23, died after his cruiser ran off Interstate 95 while he and his partner were pursuing theft suspects
"Our County government, every community and every citizen of Prince George's County grieves again this evening," said Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker.
