Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards on Friday criticized House Speaker Paul Ryan’s call for higher birth rates in the U.S.
Richards tweeted that “if more members of Congress could get pregnant, maybe they wouldn’t tell the rest of us when and why to get pregnant.”

Ryan said during his press conference Thursday that he did his part, “but we need to have higher birth rates in this country.”
Ryan has three children.
The Republican-controlled House has passed legislation to defund the women's health and abortion provider for one year as part of legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare. However, the legislation failed in the Senate.
Congress has 105 female lawmakers: 84 in the 435-member House and 21 in the 100-member Senate.
