White House dismisses Fox News as ‘ideological outlet,’ renewing feud

President Obama’s Sunday media blitz of five networks deliberately left out Fox News, with the administration calling it an “ideological outlet.”

But by passing over “Fox News Sunday” with host Chris Wallace, Obama skipped over an audience of up to 3 million viewers who tune in regularly to watch the show and its reruns.

Some political strategists are calling the move a mistake.

“Cutting this network out actually sends a larger message of just how sensitive and petty the West Wing has become,” said Republican strategist Ron Bonjean, who was a top aide to former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill.

The White House indeed took aim at Fox, with a spokesman saying, “We figured Fox would rather show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ than broadcast an honest discussion about health insurance reform,” referring to the network’s decision to run the popular dance show on its broadcast stations instead of airing an Obama news conference in July.

The news conference ran on the Fox News cable network.

In an interview with Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, Wallace called the administration “the biggest bunch of crybabies I’ve ever dealt with in my 30 years in Washington.”

On Sunday, Wallace interviewed Bertha Lewis, chief executive officer of the embattled Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, which is on the verge of losing federal funding after undercover filmmakers found staffers aiding people posing as pimps and prostitutes.

Obama refused to appear on the show throughout the 2008 election. Wallace had an “Obama Watch” that counted up 768 days from when Obama agreed to appear and his first and only sit-down with Wallace in April.

They crybaby tries to dish it out; he certainly cannot take it.

Maybe Mr. Obama realizes Americans
are on to him as being a fraud and a phoney, a person never to be either believed or trusted.

How hypocritcal and blind to isolate FoxNews and not say anything of years of the MSM anti-Conservative and anti-Christian media. Outlets like the the ACORN story ignoring MSNBC and now even ABC are pathetic.

Unfortunately Fox News has really taken a turn downwards in the past 6 months. I can understand the Presidents decision.

Why would President Obama waste time appearing on Fox News? Fox has already brainwashed its viewers into regarding Obama as the AntiChrist. Reasonably sane people avoid Fox like the plague.

MSNBC is a blatanly obvious joke of a "news" organization- its pure editorializing in favor of Obama. Joe Scarborogh is the only one with integrity over there.

FOX refuses to be an advertising agency for Obama and his policies.

Obama is turning out to be a clueless Jimmy Carter type of president. Re election outlook looks hazy.

I GUESS OBAMA NEVER SAW THE GODFATHER MOVIE. REMEMBER THE LINE 'KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE AND YOUR ENEMIES CLOSER'. HANNITY AND BECK ARE HARD DRIVING CONSERVATIVES, BUT OREILLY AND THE OTHERS HAVE BEEN MORE THAN FAIR WITH OBAMA. OF COURSE COMPARED TO MSNBC AND CNN, BEING FAIR AND BALANCED WOULD BE CONSIDERED ANTI-OBAMA. THE CONCEITED IDEOLOGUES AT THE WHITE HOUSE LIKE TO THINK THAT THEY ARE SUPERIOR TO FOX VIEWERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THEY AREN'T, AND WILL FIND THAT OUT AS MORE PEACEFUL PROTESTS ARE SCHEDULED.

Obama prefers the squeezably soft
Charmin the other outlets employ when
he visits their studios. Fox opts
for sandpaper.

I think everything should be aired on FOX News, but I also don't think that not airing it equates to the WH being crybabies. Honestly, why bother with FOX News? They are just going to twist Obama's words around and come up with some BS to brainwash their viewers with. I cannot stand that channel and I'm a conservative! It's scary thinking O'Reilly is the voice of reason over there. He's not a smart man.

Reply to Katherine: One does not have to twist the words of Obama to show he is a phony...just broadcast what he says.

For the uninitiated, Bill O'Reilly is neither a reporter nor a journalist; he's a commentator and as such is not confined to the facts (ditto Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck). Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday is a respected news reporter and is a reasoned, fair and able interviewer. Only those who actually don't watch Fox News have any idea what the difference is.

Mr. Obama needs to understand that all of his liberal networks are tanking because the public realizes that he and the networks are untruthful and not to be believed. None of my friends will watch NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC,or CNN. Fox is the only network that is believable. No wonder their ratings are going through the roof. We can hardly wait for the next elections. All the politicians will finally realize that the 60 plus crowd is serious about getting this president and the Horrible Congree out of office. W will vote in mass.

Fox news is a hindrance to national progress. Their broadcasting license should be pulled.

Was glad Obama didn't go on Fox, wasn't interested in watching a malignant narcissist at work.

The President is peeing into the wind. More people, including more Democrats, get their news from Fox News that from any other source.

"Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday is a respected news reporter and is a reasoned, fair and able interviewer." Last time I watch Fox Sunday whatever Wallace was grilling some woman about something either he or Palin made up. It went something like him saying "but why would would the VA give this assisted suicide death book to someone in a wheelchair or who has the blues" 3-4 times. It was completely bogus. I remember thinking they almost had me fooled that they left their extreme right wing tin foil hat conspiracies at the cable division when they went on network TV.

I was in a position where I had to watch several hours of "Fox News" and it tickled me to no end how infuriated host after host was at Obama's decision to call a spade a spade and turn the tables on them. They were positively beside themselves and trying every schoolyard taunt in the book trying to 'shame' the President who they supposedly hate into not cutting off their access to him... it bordered on begging and made it sound like Fox needed Obama FAR more than Obama needed Fox. I hope the President sticks to his guns and other politicians realize that they don't need to legitimize a conservative propaganda wing by appearing on it. Perhaps that will allow the LEFT wing propaganda machine of MSNBC go back to being a legitimate news organization as well, instead of having to be the "Anti-Fox".

Finally, Obama is looking like he has finally grown a pair... about time! Let the extreme right go off and be crazy by themselves so the rest of us can actually get something accomplished in the country!

"Some political strategists are calling the move a mistake." *REALLY*? Ron Bonjean thinks the Democratic President is making a mistake not appearing on the network of choice for Republicans? BRILLIANT reporting Ferrechio. Whats next? An in-depth report on how water is wet? Why not just say some REPUBLICAN political strategists think its a mistake... or would that be too much like REAL reporting?
