Va governor candidates campaign in Richmond area

RICHMOND, VA. — Republican candidate for governor Bob McDonnell and Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling have launched a 25-locality, five-day statewide tour as they head toward Election Day leading Democrats in the polls by double digits.

McDonnell and Bolling — who is seeking re-election — warned supporters against being overconfident as they spoke Thursday at a diner in suburban Richmond.

They were joined by Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele.

Democrat Creigh (CREE) Deeds, with his son and daughter, stopped at a Richmond coffee house, a cable-television customer phone center and Virginia Commonwealth University.

He waved off the polls, saying President Barack Obama's appearance Tuesday in Norfolk is boosting his campaign for governor.
