A belated birthday for LBJ

With another Democrat in the White House trying to remake the healthcare system, it was only fitting that the Texas State Society threw a party for President Johnson on Saturday, in honor of his 101st birthday.
The event, organized by the Texas State Society and the National Park Service, was originally scheduled for Aug. 26, the day before LBJ's actual birthday, but was rescheduled out of respect for the death of Sen. Edward Kennedy.
Former first daughter Lynda Robb led the Johnson-ites to the LBJ Memorial Grove, just off the George Washington Parkway, for the late morning event. Attendees listened to the recollections of Jim Jones, a former ambassador to Mexico, member of Congress and Johnson chief of staff.
Also among the approximately 60 attendees: former Sen. Chuck Robb, D-Va.; Yebbie Watkins and Dave Grimaldi, both top aides to House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn; and AT&T lobbyist Lyndon Boozer, whose mother was LBJ's personal assistant.
