A few touch-ups can be a political face-lift

The Nixon-Kennedy debates taught Washington a valuable lesson: Smarts aren't everything in politics.

With eyes closed, Richard Nixon stole the 1960 presidential debates. However, with lights and cameras on, viewers saw the photogenic John F. Kennedy as the clear winner and saw poor Dick looking stubbly and sick in the shadows.

And now with the unforgiving lenses of hi-def cable news, flip cams and TMZ, politicos have taken note. How else could a lawmaker look alert on C-SPAN after a four-hour filibuster without a little injectable filler?

Yeas & Nays reached out to celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Ayman Hakki of Luxxery Cosmetic Medical Boutique in Waldorf to see whether he'd weigh in on which politicians have been nipped, tucked and sucked. Although this Dr. Hollywood -- who has worked on Miss Americas, Redskins and Wizards and blogs about cosmetic surgery at www.luxxery.com -- has never laid a scalpel on these politicos, he can spot a neck lift or Botox on any congressional mug.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton -- Botox of the forehead

Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev. -- nothing, highlighting his hair somehow ...

Rep. Mary Bono Mack, R-Calif. -- rhinoplasty

Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn. -- Radiesse injectable filler (or other filler) in the midface region

Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. -- full face-lift (very well done) and Botox in the forehead

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas -- neck lift or lower face-lift

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine -- neck lift and lower lid blephoroplasty (lower-lid eye bag removal)

Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska -- neck lift and Botox of the frown lines

Gov. Charlie Crist, R-Florida -- very subtle neck lift

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. -- neck and face-lift

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius -- Botox of the frown lines and forehead

Rep. Jane Harman, D-Calif. -- face-lift and midface filler, either fat or an injectable filler of some sort

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, R-Calif. -- midface lift, which is a lift from the middle face toward the ear (different from a face-lift in that it does not involve the upper face or the neck.)

Vice President Joe Biden -- Botox of the forehead and hair transplants

If the health care bill passes do you think they'll cover another face lift for Pelosi?
