As Brown’s book is release, Masons tell real story

As Dan Brown’s book “The Lost Symbol” is being picked up this week by thousands across the country, a lesser publicized book is hoping to prove the inaccuracies of what is to be expected in the “The DaVinci Code” author’s book on the Masonic secrets in Washington.

Author James Wasserman was in Washington Tuesday to discuss his book “The Secrets of Masonic Washington,” a guidebook of sorts full of pictures of the  “signs, symbols, and ceremonies” that our nation was founded upon. Joined by Mason Akram Elias, the two men traced the history of our country through the traditions set in place by the father of our country and Mason, George Washington.

Some of the fun factoids mentioned at the National Press Club discussion included:

* If you draw a line from the Capitol, to the White House, to the Lincoln Memorial, to the Jefferson Memorial you get the Masonic symbol of Compasses and Square emblem.

* The Washington Monument, built by Mason Robert Mills, is 555 feet high and 55 feet wide, 5 being the essential number of building, or masonry.

* The obelisk is an Egyptian symbol of a beam of white light, brought together by the seven colors of the spectrum.  Washington is credited for bringing together the 13 colonies into one union.

But at the heart of the discussion was to clarify that the Masons are not a conspiracy of devil worshipers or some sort of religious cult, so don’t believe everything you read in Brown’s latest tome. As one Mason who already is deep into the book told us after, it’s an entertaining mix of fact and fiction.

Freemasonry IS a religion, and it is NOT Christian. The symbols ARE satanic and the organization is evil and conspiratorial. Disbelieve if you like, as for me, I disbelieve in Freemasonry.
