Everyone's a comic at RTCA dinner

"I want to thank you for this opprotunity to tell all the jokes that weren't funny enough for me to use when we did this five weeks ago," President Barack Obama began his remarks Friday night at the Radion & Television Correspondents' Association Dinner. But we have to disagree – the president killed it. And not quite sure why, but everyone seemed to be comedians that evening.
Republican National Committe Chairman Michael Steele joked to us at CBS's reception that thanks to the GOP's latest sex scandal, Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., was a "little too busy" to be in attendance. But, Steele pointed out, he was there with Rush Limbaugh. "We're a packaged deal," Steele said, cracking up. And it was hard for us not to note his blinged out tuxedo studs and cuff links. "It's the new RNC, baby," Steele informed us. Awesome.
White House economic advisor Larry Summers sure wasn't asleep when we asked him about being the butt of a joke during the Onion News Network's broadcast. "All I try to do is stay away from you people," he said. "But hey, as long you spell my name right," he added, referring to the old adage there's no such thing as bad publicity.
Rep. Aaron Schock, R-Ill., had us laughing while talking at the MSNBC after-party about how great it would be for him to move into "The Real World" house. "You mean the Senate?" he snapped back, almost shocked he said it out loud, but causing hysterics all around. Schock kept the jokes going as he told us how he had to get all his friends to take down their pictures from Facebook, after the one of him laying in a bathing-suit got out to TMZ.
"That was from like two years ago...I have like a twelve-pack now," he joked after some prodding from us.
And although she wasn't meaning to be comedic, former Miss California Carrie Prejean had us smiling when she said she's both "trying to slow things down a bit" and "is looking to appear more on Fox News."
