A U.S. Post Office worker pleaded guilty Monday to embezzling more than $43,000 from the postal service.

Virgil E. Ball, 59, of Waldorf, worked as a clerk at the processing center in Capitol Heights. He admitted to taking about $34,180 in cash and $9,000 in checks that was to be delivered by armored car to the bank.

Ball pleaded guilty to a count of embezzlement at the U.S. District Court in Greenbelt, and faces up to 10 years in prison, federal prosecutors said.
