President Trump defended his son, Donald Trump Jr., on Monday morning and said most politicians would've attended a meeting if they were promised damaging information on a political opponent.
"Most politicians would have gone to a meeting like the one Don jr attended in order to get info on an opponent. That's politics!" President Trump tweeted Monday morning.

Trump Jr., former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and Jared Kushner attended a meeting at Trump Tower in June 2016 with a Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, after they were told Veselnitskaya had damaging information on Hillary Clinton.
Also in attendance were a Russian-American lobbyist and a translator.
Trump Jr. was approached by a British publicist, Rob Goldstone, close to the Trump family about the meeting and was told the "Russian government lawyer" had information to offer the campaign.
Goldstone also told Trump Jr. the information was part of the Russian government's attempts to help Trump's candidacy.
News that the meeting took place has cast a shadow over the White House, as Republicans and Democrats criticized Trump Jr. for agreeing to meet with Veselnitskaya, who has ties to the Kremlin, with hopes of receiving negative information on Clinton.
